Getting bored with your morning walking routine? Spice it up and join us as we walk around the lazy river at Lions Junction. Stay cool during your workout while increasing resistance and decreasing the impact on your joints. River Walking is not instructed and is built for each participant to work at his/her own pace. SPECIAL NEEDS SWIM LESSONS

We are now offering a special needs youth swimming lesson class for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, between the ages of 6 and 14. This swimming lesson course is tailored to meet the needs of each child, so that he or she can progress at a comfortable pace. And although some children may advance more quickly or slowly, our instructors ensure that everyone receives the instruction they need. Registration opens April 1st and can be completed at Sammons Indoor Pool.

SAMMONS AQUACIZE

Aquacize helps build strength and endurance while toning muscles in a low-impact environment. Leg workouts in the water emphasize your lower body as the water gives you submerged muscles up to 14 times the resistance of air! The harder you work, the more resistance you encounter. Add in a specialized upper body workout and it’s a total fitness package! You must be 18 or older to participate in instructed classes unless approved by the Pool Manager.

The all new Lifeguard Instructor course is designed to teach currently certified lifeguards the information and skills needed to succeed as an instructor.

After passing this course, instructors will be able to teach the following topics: American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Shallow Water Lifeguarding, Aquatic Attraction Lifeguarding, Waterfront Skills, Waterpark Skills, First Aid, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, Administering Emergency Oxygen and Bloodborne Pathogens. It is not designed to teach children to become swimmers or how to survive in the water on their own.

Reservations can be made through the Parks & Recreation Administration Office by calling 254.298.5690.

All rentals must be for a 2 hour minimum; time is whatever the renter chooses.

Cancellations must be made prior to 48 hours of the rental date for refunds to be given.

A $100 deposit is required and will be returned if the facility is left in good condition. If the building is not left clean, or if there is any kind of damage, the amount returned will be decided by the facilities manager.

PERSONAL RECORD COMPETITION

In honor of July Parks and Recreation month, the Temple community is invited to participate in The Summit Recreation Centers third annual Personal Record Competition, where you can show off your strength and get to know your fellow community!

This year we will time cap each excise to see how many reps you can bust out in the given time frame.
