As National President, under the theme "Connect to Evolve," I am honored to witness a shared journey towards a more inclusive and evolved society.
From the impactful CD Project - V Support Sha Tin We Care to the inspiring BA ProjectProject Insight - Creative Odyssey and the inclusive Dragon Boat races, JCI Shatin have exemplified the true essence of unity in diversity. By embracing individuals from all walks of life, we have not only enriched our community but also set a powerful precedent for collaboration and understanding.
In sync with the Olympic year, where the world unites through the language of sports, JCI for excellence and camaraderie on the global stage, we too, through our collective efforts, embody the same ethos of teamwork and perseverance.
Let us continue to champion the principles of inclusivity and sportsmanship, weaving a tapestry of harmony and empowerment across our nation. Together, we can break down barriers, elevate one another, and pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future for all.

This year, JCI Sha Tin is brimming with fresh ideas, infusing the activities with innovation and a sense of renewal.
One notable transformation is the shift from the traditional Sha Tin Classroom to the dynamic 'Project How'. Members now employ Design Thinking to craft engaging games for their peers, honing their attention to execution details. Participants also embrace Critical Thinking, allowing them to critically assess situations and make informed decisions. It's a true case of learning through gaming.
Another heartwarming initiative is the collaboration with the deaf community during this year's connections with a broader segment of society. By championing inclusivity, JCI Sha Tin hopes to raise awareness among its members about the unique challenges faced by the hearing-impaired. Despite our varying physical conditions, we all share a common bond as members of this society, and we all can achieve “We As One”.

As the Presidential Advisor of JCI Sha Tin, I am proud to see our members working hard to embody the spirit of our slogan, "We as One".
By hosting two flagship projects – "V-Support Sha Tin We Care" elderly home visit and "Creative Odyssey" cultural and creative workshops and Mainland exchange program, members got the opportunity to contribute to the development of Sha Tin community by caring local elderly people and engaging young individuals respectively. They serve as living examples on how we can serve our community and foster the spirit of unity.
I hope that through these projects, our members will build strong teamwork skills and expand their personal networks so that they will serve our community as one family in the future.

It was a pleasant time sitting down with Vanessa Mimi Wong, internationally, to learn more about her journey and the dedication required to reach the highest level.
Vanessa's passion for skating began at a young age when her mom enrolled her in figure skating lessons at 4 years old. "I was inspired by my mom's aspiration for me, but I also just found skating really fun personally," the sport, Vanessa continued progressing through the ranks with the encouragement of her coaches.
Vanessa eventually transitioned to inline speed skating in her teenage years. "I was inspired to challenge myself and really enjoy the sense of speed," she explains. "Inline speed skating requires more endurance while still needing power, which suited me as I got older."
Her dedication paid off as she advanced to compete at elite levels like in Taiwan since around age 16 to access better facilities and training environments. "The atmosphere and coaches in Taiwan really allowed me to take my skating to the next level to be competitive internationally."
Even the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns became an opportunity, as Vanessa used the time to train in Europe and unlock new improvements in her skating. She was ready to reduce her rigorous training schedule after participating in top competitions like the Asian Games and World Championships in 2023.
However, Vanessa's passion and positive perspective would keep her from slowing down. "I just enjoy the process of competing and the sense of achievement it gives me. Plus, my progress these past 2 years showed me age isn't a barrier to improving if you stick with it. I love training every day, always having goals, and that feeling of accomplishment."
speed skating and hopefully see more facilities and training for the sport to develop here."
When I ask about her mindset for dealing with the immense work required, Vanessa doesn't hedge. "The journey has had so many falls and setbacks that nobody one sees. The more people doubt you can get back up, the more you should keep trying. Don't get discouraged so quickly. Do it a few more times and you'll discover what you're capable
you'll want to keep reaching higher. I'll never stop until I get there, so you can't give up either."
