A
ttention all cycling and sea lovers! Somebody has been doing some serious thinking with you in mind. We’re
talking about the Manta5, a water bike that uses hydrofoil technology to allow you to glide across the water under a combination of motor and pedal power. In fact, its 400W motor delivers the quiet ride and cost efficiencies of a quality land-based e-bike. On top of that, however, it uses a high performance, biodegradable synthetic gear oil, a cleantech feature that will allow you explore even protected lakes and rivers off limits to petrol-powered watercraft. Compact enough to stow in small spaces, the Manta’s clever design means in-car and roof-rack transport are a breeze with a two-minute assembly time before you hoist it on your shoulder and walk it to the water. It stands 1380mm tall, 2000mm in width and is 2200 mm long, and weights a mere 22 kg, motor and battery included. Its construction Aircraft Grade 6061-T6 aluminium construction impresses too and the detachable rear foil and front tiller pivot system are both carbon composite. A 36-volt battery comprising 60 lithium ion cells delivers an 80-minute run time. The display is easy to read and features Riding Modes and a Battery Charge Indicator. Suitable for saltwater and freshwater alike, the Manta is great fun at sea, in lakes and on rivers. With pedal assist, it can make up to 20 km/h thanks to that 400 W e-bike motor.
