The Dimensions of Water

Personalisation, compactness and automation. The Numarine 30XP yachts and the new Majesty 100 Terrace feature two types of HP Watermakers desalinator, embodying the concept of water efficiency on board

Water on board is no longer just a resource, it’s an experience. Ensuring its availability, quality and intuitive management is now a crucial element in any advanced yacht design. HP Watermakers continues to stand out in this field, designing and building totally automatic desalinators that adapt to the layout and style of any yacht, making water autonomy not only a certainty but also a tangible comfort. This approach is embodied by the recent installation of HP Watermakers products on board the Numarine 30XP models, 30.90-metre explorer yachts designed to provide owners with an off-grid experience of the sea, and the Majesty 100 Terrace by Gulf Craft. Two designs, two construction philosophies, two system choices but only one technical response - HP Watermakers.

The Zucco family have been at the helm of HP Watermakers for thirty years. Opposite page, bottom: Gianni with his father Luciano, mother Valeria and sister Valentina. HP desalinators are chosen on the basis of a number of system requirements. The latest installations include the SCA Double 660 (opposite page, top) on the Numarine 30XP (bottom right) and the SCD Double 260 (right) on the new Majesty 100 Terrace (bottom left)

“The criterion guiding the choice between the SCA Double 660 and SCD Double 260 models is essentially one of where the unit is located with respect to the waterline”, says Gianni Zucco, co-founder of the company. “In the case of the 30XP the unit is located above the waterline, and the choice was a configuration with separate pumps. On the contrary, on the Majesty 100 the desalinator is below the waterline, making it possible to instal a monobloc unit with pumps included in the body of the machine”. The model chosen for the Numarine 30XP fleet (two are already in operation and two are under construction) is the SCA Double 660, two independent desalinators that work in parallel, mounted in the same framework and generating a combined production of 660 litres/hour. It’s a compact, robust system designed to optimise consumption and enable flexible management during peaks in water demand. All the Numarine 30XP are equipped with Sea0Spot, the HP unit that makes it possible to treat and desalinate dock water, transfor-

ming it into soft water, and with Part-NET, an interface system compatible with the most common bridge plotters for integrated and immediate control. For the Majesty 100 Terrace, though, Gulf Craft has chosen the SCD Double 260 RP Tronic, an automatic system with two desalinators integrated in the same box, capable of producing between 2x260 and 2x320 litres/hour. This choice is a perfect response to the requirements of a yacht that emphasises liveability and functionality. “In this case the desalinators’ compact footprint – just 1,100 mm – has been determined to optimise its usability in the engine room without compromising on performance and automation”, says Zucco. “But we were involved in the entire hydraulic system, from sterilisation to softening”. Two case histories that reflect HP’s philosophy – not simply to supply products but also personalised solutions designed to respond to the needs of owners and shipyards, supporting development right from the initial stages. hpwatermaker.it
