Aljada is located next to Sharjah University City, in-between the Al Dhaid Road and the University City Road. It will be delivered in a series of phases, with work starting on site early next year and completions expected from 2019 through to 2025. Aljada community is planned to consist of a number of residential districts, connected with 2.2 km-long landscaped parks and tree-lined boulevards. The development will offer investors a variety of housing units, including villas, semi-detached villas, townhouses, apartments and loft apartments. Phase 1 of Aljada consists of 14 apartment buildings, totaling 1,300 units, as well as more than 100 townhouses and semi-detached villas, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of next year.

French desalinisation specialist Sidem is the EPC contractor for the 1,500 MW project, which will also include a 50 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) seawater reverse osmosis plant. The contract’s scope of works includes the construction of an underground deep-sea tunnel, an inter-stage pump, and a side-stream filter plant EWA, on behalf of Government of Bahrain, is planning to undertake the Second Phase as a part of Al Dur Independent Water and Power Plant project in Al Dur. The project involves the construction of 1,354MW combined cycle power plant and 218,200m3 per day a desalination plant.

OMIFCO is looking at expanding the capacity of its plant in Sur by adding a third production stream with an estimated investment of around US$1bn. Earlier this year OMIFCO initiated a feasibility study for the expansion project. The study is likely to be completed before the end of this year. But much would depend on availability of natural gas, which is a key raw material for producing ammonia-based fertiliser.Setting up an additional stream or train would effectively mean an additional capacity to produce around 1.3mn tonnes of urea per annum.

Kuwait officials have said that work has begun on a 111-km railway project that will connect the country to the rest of the GCC states. Phase One of the project will see a new line being built to Nuwaiseb on the Saudi border, and a 153-km long line linking Kuwait City with Boubyan Port. Kuwait aims to complete the project on the specified dates, as per the GCC’s general secretariat plan, the report said, explaining that Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Qatar will operate the new Gulf States Railway in 2021, while Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman will take over in 2023.

Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority and French logistics firm Bollore signed an agreement to build an automobile terminal in East Port Said in the new Suez Canal Economic Zone. The Automobile Terminal will include a 600-metre sea pier, with a 240,000 square metre trade facility. The project is the first of its kind in the Middle East. In addition, it will help generate 650 direct and indirect jobs.

HUNTERTOWN, Ind. — Asphalt Drum Mixers, Inc. offers the EX120 asphalt plant as a solution for producers who need a portable counterflow plant that can process high percentages of RAP. Featuring single-drum counterflow technology, the compact 120-tph EX Series plant meets all federal and state emission regulations. “The EX120 combines the innovative counterflow technology of our EX Series with the compactness and portability of our SPL Series,” said Mike Devine, Asphalt Drum Mixers president. “The result is a dependable asphalt plant that goes wherever you need it to go while producing material at a low cost per ton and delivering a high ROI.” The EX120 boasts the longest aggregate drying and mixing times in the industry, resulting in a low cost per ton. The unit consistently produces quality asphalt to help protect plant owners against out-of-spec damages. In addition, the plant is capable of processing as much as 50 percent RAP. Counterflow technology with separate drying and mixing zones allows the EX120 to achieve maximum heat transfer and fuel efficiency. The system virtually eliminates unsafe carbon emissions that are a common problem with other drum mix plants. ADM further reduces emissions by designing the counterflow system to reintroduce gases back to the drum’s combustion zone. Similar to ADM’s SPL Series asphalt plants, engineers designed the EX Series for smaller output and optimal transport. The entire EX120 plant sits on one chassis for easy movement from site to site. This makes it ideal for remote and demanding locations worldwide. In addition, the portable plant’s compact size and easy maneuverability greatly simplify the process of obtaining an operating permit when compared to stationary plants. This is because the EPA considers portable plants to be temporary and stationary plants to be permanent. Plant capabilities are highly sophisticated, yet controls are simple to operate. One plant operator and one loader operator can control the EX120. ADM constructs each plant with durability and low maintenance in mind, so on-site staff are able to easily troubleshoot. In addition, the manufacturer builds the EX120 primarily with readily available parts for easy and cost-effective repair. Customers choose from a full range of components to customize the plant for their operation. ADM offers cold feed bins, hot oil asphalt cement tanks (both horizontal and vertical), direct-fired horizontal cement tanks, portable and stationary baghouses, mineral filler systems, RAP systems, self-erect and stationary silos, weigh and drag conveyors, weigh batchers and fuel oil tanks. In addition to the EX Series, ADM also offers its RoadBuilder, SPL and MileMaker Series. Each ADM plant can be custom designed to meet individual site and production requirements.

XCMG XCA5000 Crane Overcame Obstacles to Wind Turbine Hoisting Operations
With the slowly rising wire rope, a 62-ton wind turbine is hoisting steadily to the height of 85 meters above the ground, and fitting into its exact place within an elevated bay, marking XCMG XCA5000’s successful completion of its lifting operations at a Chongqing wind farm in southwestern China. With a total investment of USD 170 million and being equipped with 55 direct-driven permanent magnet generating units of 2 megawatt each, Huaneng Wind Farm has a total installed capacity of 110 MW, the largest one of its kind in the whole metropolitan region of Chongqing. According to the project leader, XCA5000 cranes undertook all the hoisting operations on narrow operating sites and steep slopes across the wind farm, especially the installation of the last wind turbine, which is, indeed, a huge challenge. Braving the strong wind and with the assistance of resident service staff of XCMG, the crane’s operators performed a sequence of expertly and orderly operations: super lift, outrigger setting-up and main machine assembly. 38 PlantAndEquipment.com | November 2018
NEW S On a slip of some 600 s.q.m. newly-carved clearing on the hilltop of over 3,000 meters above sea level, XCMG XCA5000 crane is hoisting easily the 68-ton tower barrel of 22 meter width at the bottom into the air against the wind, nudging the barrel deftly over to meet the preinstalled bolts on the base, and then, dropping the slugs linger slowly and steadily to land it firmly and accurately onto the base. The hoisting of more than 100 meter-long, huge wind blades is the key part of this operation. The 16m/s wind speed at the time (the maximum critical value for the operating conditions), the Golden Wind 2.0 tower mast of 85 meters in height and the wind blades of 62 tons in weight posed a stern test to the crane. The XCMG XCA5000 crane’s operator gave a vivid description of the operation later: On September 10, it was raining heavily and the wind was coming in gusts when the XCA5000 crane rushed to the construction site on the top of the hill. The 10 kilometer-long bumpy road, more than 20 corners of near 90 degrees and 30 stretches of slope of not less than 30 gradients are really a huge challenge to a large mobile crane. This treacherous circumstance imposed very demanding requirements on the braking performance of the chassis, the reliability of maneuvering system and the safety of moving along slopes. The crane trudged along on its uphill journey as originally scheduled. Under the guidance of XCMG’s resident service engineer, he continued to drive on, getting the hands-on experience of its brand-new feature for the first time: the two-motor drive system where superstructure-mounted engines provide robust power to the chassis, and admiring secretly at its user friendliness to its driver, its technological sophistication and its ease with which it overcame each obstacle that would otherwise seem to be insurmountable. Being a state-of-the-art hoisting equipment with the largest tonnage in the world, XCA5000 crane has been widely used for installation of 3-3.6 mw wind turbines at the height of less than 110 meters above the ground, and also can satisfy demanding requirements in largescale chemical engineering and major infrastructure projects. When asked about the equipment, the Project Construction Supervisor commented with confidence:
We are assured at the excellent performance of XCMG cranes. It is a perfect lifting operation, “ and we are very satisfied with it. I am sure that in the future, rows of wind turbines will decorate the magnificent skyline. What a beautiful tourist landscape it will be! And I must say, XCMG’ devices play a great role in making it a reality.

Large Paver Makes its Debut AFT 700-3 Showcases Productivity
LANGENTHAL, Switzerland – Ammann completed the first delivery of the new large tracked paver AFT 700-3 to road construction company Imboden. The demonstration at the InfraSuisse convention left the paving crew with no doubts about the technological advantages and the smart PaveManager 2.0 machine control system.

“The size category delivers exactly what we are looking for in a paver,” said Felix Böni, foreman of the Imboden paving team. “It has the production output we need combined with a long service life thanks to tried-and-tested components and new features such as the TruckAssist docking system.” A large parking area for a pharmaceutical company in the Swiss canton of Valais was the scene of the paver’s first jobsite. The machine needed two days to lay the highquality seeping layer that can also accommodate heavy rainfall. The entire parking area is intentionally designed without any additional drainage. The asphalt was supplied by an Ammann asphalt-mixing plant operated by Imboden. The team needed less than a day for the base layer and one day for the top layer. The large 5,400 m2 parking area was paved at a width of 4-5 m and a layer thickness of 8.5 cm. Paving widths of up to 10 m are theoretically possible with the AFT 700-3. Productivity was impressive. The AFT 700-3 successfully demonstrated its output capacity of up to 800 metric tonnes per hour. The high-performance AFT 700-3 tracked paver is available with a combined ramming/ vibrating screed, a high-compaction screed or a rigid screed with a maximum paving width of 10 m. Learning to use the PaveManager 2.0 machine control system was very easy for the crew. The modern system monitors the entire paving process and provides accurate feedback. Also intuitive is the optional TruckAssist, a system that simplifies communication between the machine operator and the truck driver and enables smooth docking and filling. The Safe Impact System – a hydraulically dampened start-up system that helps with mat smoothness – is standard. It enables the use of any popular truck model for filling. Ammann’s service scope also includes training documentation for truck drivers. Fast and seamless integration in the construction company’s work process exemplifies Ammann’s leadership in the field of customer service. “Ammann’s support and service are uncontested,” said construction manager Mario Truffer. An expert from Ammann and a service engineer helped get things started. “Ammann’s comprehensive customer service is a further plus point for us,” Böni said.

وقعــت هيئــة قنــاة الســويس المصريــة وشــركة «بولــور» اللوجيســتية الفرنســية اتفاقيــة لبنــاء محطــة للســيارات فــي شــرق بورســعيد فــي المنطقــة االقتصاديــة الجديــدة لقنــاة الســويس. وسيشــمل المشــروع رصيف بحري بطول 600متر ،مع منشــأة تجارية بمســاحة 240ألف متر مربع .المشــروع هو األول من نوعه في الشــرق األوســط .باإلضافة إلى ذلك ،سيســاعد على توفير 650وظيفة مباشـرة وغير مباشـرة.
