A feasibility study for the construction of Saudi Arabiaâ€™s first rail network to link its Eastern and Western flanks will be completed within 12 months. China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) is conducting the study in line with an agreement signed recently with the Saudi Public Transport Authority (PTA). Saudi officials have estimated investment in the project at nearly $7 billion as it involves the construction of 950km of new line between Riyadh and Jeddah and another 115 km track between Dammam and Jubail in East Saudi Arabia. The landbridge, the first rail link between the Red Sea and the Gulf, also involves upgrading of the existing link between Riyadh and Dammam.

The Arabian Gulf University (AGU) has invited leading construction companies to submit their bids for building the King Abdullah Medical City. The project, paid for through a $1 billion grant from the late Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, will be built on a one million square metre plot of land donated by His Majesty King Hamad in Durrat Al Bahrain. The project would be completed in two phases, with the first phase scheduled for completion by the end of next year and will include a hospital with 300 beds and a planned expansion to reach 500 beds.

Saudi government has started work on a comprehensive rainwater drainage project in Jeddah covering 30 critical and sensitive locations in the city. The project, which is estimated to cost SR3 billion ($799 million), is being implemented in different phases. Work has already started on the Phase One of the Jeddah Rainwater Drainage project. With the project fully completed, Jeddah would be in a better position next year with regard to rainwater drainage. The municipality would be able to deal quickly and efficiently with rainwater in the coming years.

The state utility has signed an amendment to the power purchase agreement with the consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power which includes adding 250MW of photovoltaic solar panels, at a cost of 2.4 US cents per kilowatt hour. With this addition, the total capacity of the fourth phase of the solar park will rise from 700MW to 950MW, the total investment for the project has increased to AED16 billion ($4.36 billion). The capacity expansion of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park’s further consolidates the UAE’s leadership in the field of sustainable development and provides another impetus to clean energy strategy.

The project consists of a 25km-long water bridge with four vehicle lanes and a 75km rail connecting a passenger railway and one lane for cars and would be used by passenger trains and freight trains besides vehicles. The new King Hamad Causeway will link north Bahrain to Saudi Arabia, and is aimed at strengthening relations between the GCC member states, according to Bahrain News Agency. Bahrain’s KFCA invites bids for transitional phase of $4bn King Hamad Causeway. Qualified transaction advisory services consultancies asked to submit bids for 25-km long strategic highway. The winning firm will act as the transaction advisor in the form of a consultancy consortium and will be responsible for providing consultancy services for the planned causeway. The last date for submission of bids is 21 February, 2019.

The Al Shomookh Mining Industries Complex is an integrated mining complex for which SEZAD has allocated 250,000 square metres of land with an investment cost of OMR95 million. It is very powerful, and even a 4- m-long giant log of 2 meters in diameter is a child’s play for them. In most cases, the logs we handle are just approximately 8 meters in length and 0.5 meter in diameter. For such logs, they can lift a large bundle of them at a time, namely 4-5 common logs. If a bit thinner, they can easily handle a bundle of 7-8 logs by a single operation. Antraquip AQ-5 Rock Grinder in India

n the heart of one of the world’s largest cities you can feel and hear the energy on the busy streets, when suddenly between the traffic jam of vehicles and the masses of people on the sidewalk, there is a Hitachi Tata 700 excavator. On the end of this massive 70 metric ton machine is an AQ-5 Antraquip rock grinder which is one of world’s most powerful drum cutters on the market (Antraquip’s 2nd largest model). The challenge for this project was the excavation of dozens of narrow shafts that are spaced every couple of hundred meters, allowing the mini tunnel boring machine to excavate the face of the tunnels connecting the shafts to install sewer lines. All of this was performed in the busy streets of Mumbai India without any traffic interruption. The shaft dimensions had a 5m diameter with 10m depth excavating through rock ranging from 60-100MPa. The solution: The AQ-5 cutter mounted on the Hitachi 700 (equipped with long reach boom/stick) was used to grind the rock out and have the material removed with a clamshell bucket. This method proved highly effective and a much safer approach compared to other methods, essentially eliminating the need for workers to be in the shaft. The 200kW (270hp) Antraquip grinder was able to excavate the shafts efficiently in rock of up to 100MPa (14,500psi), which most drum cutters are not able to handle. The spur gear design of Antraquip cutters, as well as the robust PTO and drums, makes Antraquip the ideal partner for hard rock applications. The Trade Fair is Virtually Booked Out • Over 700 exhibitors from 25 countries • Construction machinery market in India is booming • Contest for fair visitors The flourishing construction machinery market in India is attracting a large number of exhibitors from all parts of the world to this year’s bauma CONEXPO INDIA, which will be held from December 11 to 14 at the HUDA Ground in Gurgaon/Delhi. Demand for booths at the fair has never been so high. Positive growth forecasts for the Indian construction machinery industry will turn the trade fair into a very important presentation platform for the industry.

Exhibitors are very satisfied with the number of registrations for this year’s construction machinery trade fair about three weeks before the fair’s opening: Compared to the last fair in 2016, 800 square meters of hall space have been added. Over 700 exhibitors from 25 countries will present their products. Only a few booths are still available. Visitors can expect to see the entire product range of construction equipment. “The trade fair will be completely booked this year for the first time. The huge number of exhibitors is directly related to the strong growth being generated by the Indian construction machinery market and the positive outlook for India’s construction industry. These growth forecasts are being fueled by capital expenditures being made by the Indian government in the expansion of the country’s infrastructure. India is to become the world’s third-largest market for the global construction industry by 2025. Analysts expect real annual growth to average 6.2 percent over the next nine years. ‫لقــد وقّعــت الهيئــة علــى تعديــل التفاقيــة شـراء الطاقــة مــع الكونســورتيوم الــذي تقــوده أكـوا بــاور الســعودية والــذي يتضمــن إضافــة ‪ 250‬ميجــاواط مــن األلـواح الشمســية‬ ‫الكهروضوئيــة بتكلفــة ‪ 2.4‬ســنتا أمريكيــا لــكل كيلــوواط ســاعي‪ .‬وبهــذه اإلضافــة‪ ،‬ســترتفع الطاقــة اإلجماليــة للمرحلــة الرابعــة مــن المجمــع الشمســي مــن ‪ 700‬ميجــاوات‬ ‫إلــى ‪ 950‬ميجــاوات‪ ،‬وقــد زاد إجمالــي االســتثمارات للمشــروع إلــى ‪ 16‬مليــار درهــم إما ارتــي (‪ 4.36‬مليــار دوالر)‪.‬‬

‫وقــدر المســؤولون الســعوديون االســتثمار فــي المشــروع بنحــو ‪ 7‬مليــارات دوالر حيــث يتضمــن بنــاء ‪ 950‬كلــم مــن الخــط الجديــد بيــن الريــاض وجــدة ومســار آخــر بطــول‬ ‫‪ 115‬كيلومت ـ ار بيــن الدمــام والجبيــل فــي شــرق المملكــة العربيــة الســعودية‪ .‬كمــا يتضمــن الجســر األرضــي‪ ،‬وهــو أول خــط ســكة حديــد بيــن البحــر األحمــر والخليــج‪،‬‬ ‫أيضــا تطويــر الخــط الحالــي بيــن الريــاض والدمــام‪.‬‬ ‫ويتضمــن ً‬

‫دعــت جامعــة الخليــج العربــي (‪ )AGU‬شــركات المقــاوالت ال ارئــدة لتقديــم عروضهــا لبنــاء مدينــة الملــك عبــداهلل الطبيــة‪ .‬وســيتم بنــاء المشــروع‪ ،‬الــذي ســدد مــن خــال‬ ‫منحــة قدرهــا مليــار دوالر مــن الملــك الســعودي ال ارحــل الملــك عبــد اهلل بــن عبــد العزيــز آل ســعود‪ ،‬علــى قطعــة أرض مســاحتها مليــون متــر مربــع تبــرع بهــا صاحــب‬ ‫الجالــة الملــك حمــد فــي درة البحريــن‪.‬‬

‫وســيتم االنتهــاء مــن المشــروع علــى مرحلتيــن‪ ،‬ومــن المقــرر االنتهــاء مــن المرحلــة األولــى بنهايــة العــام المقبــل‪ ،‬وسيشــمل المستشــفى ‪ 300‬سـرير وهنــاك مخطــط للتوســع‬ ‫للوصــول إلــى ‪ 500‬سـرير‪.‬‬

‫ومهمــا فــي المدينــة‪ .‬ويجــري تنفيــذ المشــروع‪ ،‬الــذي تقــدر‬ ‫حساســا‬ ‫موقعــا‬ ‫ً‬ ‫بــدأت الحكومــة الســعودية العمــل فــي مشــروع شــامل لتصريــف ميــاه األمطــار فــي جــدة يغطــي ‪ً 30‬‬ ‫ً‬ ‫تكلفتــه بثاثــة مليــارات لاير ســعودي (‪ 799‬مليــون دوالر)‪ ،‬علــى م ارحــل مختلفــة‪ .‬وقــد بــدأ العمــل بالفعــل فــي المرحلــة األولــى مــن مشــروع صــرف ميــاه األمطــار فــي جــدة‪.‬‬ ‫ومــع اكتمــال المشــروع بالكامــل‪ ،‬ســتكون جــدة فــي وضــع أفضــل فــي العــام المقبــل فيمــا يتعلــق بتصريــف ميــاه األمطــار‪ .‬ســوف تكــون البلديــة قــادرة علــى التعامــل بســرعة‬ ‫وكفــاءة مــع ميــاه األمطــار فــي الســنوات القادمــة‪.‬‬
