Its resid hydrocracking unit converts 78 per cent of lower grade feedstock into distillates which will then be refined into high margin diesel and kerosene. It will take 90 million safe man-hours to build. The BMP project will create more than 1,500 new jobs during construction, and 150 permanent high-skill jobs. It’s estimated that every job at BAPCO creates 12 more jobs in Bahrain. The programme will require a total of 24,000 contractor staff on site. Automechanika Jeddah 2019 Concluded with Success and Positive Feedbacks

he 3rd edition of Automechanika Jeddah concluded on a successful note, with an enthusiastic response from Saudi trade buyers and international exhibitors alike.

Eli Youssian, Giant Industrial Corporation’s Vice President, commented on the success of the show: “We enjoyed many inspiring conversations, and were impressed by the number of visitors and the great interest in our products, especially our premium ceramic disc brake pads. We consider our participation to be a success and the number of visitors exceeded all expectations.” Automechanika Jeddah 2019 concluded amid a positive backdrop where new research indicates Saudi’s automotive aftermarket is well on the road to a full recovery. According to global research company Aranca, Saudi’s car parc stood at 7.7 million in 2018, with 350,000 new passenger cars and 115,000 new commercial vehicles sold for the year. Around 10.5 million vehicles will ply Saudi roads by 2023, including 6.85 million passenger vehicles and 3.65 million commercial vehicles. The upshot will be felt keenly by industry professionals in Saudi’s spare parts and related auto services market, which is expected to be worth US$10.15 billion in 2023 says Aranca, compared to US$7.6 billion in 2018. Tires contributed the most to the KSA’s spare parts market revenue in 2018, with a 30 percent
share (US$2.28 billion). That’s followed by lubricants (US$1.44 billion), batteries (US$380 million), and other electronics, accessories, and components (US$3.49 billion). Mahmut Gazi Bilikozen, Automechanika Jeddah’s Show Director, said: “Automechanika Jeddah 2019 has once again demonstrated its position as the most influential trade fair brand specifically catering to the needs of auto aftermarket in Saudi’s Western region. Middle East’s Auto Aftermarket Underlined by Strong International Presence at Automechanika Dubai 2019 Global players express optimism in region’s US$15 billion auto parts and accessories market
T
he Middle East’s potential as a key growth region for the automotive aftermarket will be underlined by a healthy international presence at the industry’s largest regional trade fair in Dubai, with global players eager to tap into a market that was valued at US$15 billion in 2018. Automechanika Dubai 2019 is set to welcome more than 1,800 exhibitors from 61 countries when doors open for the 17th time in June at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, with participating companies expressing optimism about future business growth. Connected cars, ride hailing services, and an increasing consumer base are key trends driving the market according to global research company Aranca, while in the Gulf region, the Dubai Expo 2020, and the decision to allow woman to drive in Saudi are other key discussion points keeping industry players hopeful.

According to Aranca, in 2018, the Middle East’s car parc (vehicles in use) crossed 21 million, with new passenger cars sales reaching 1.03 million units and commercial vehicle sales comprising 270,000 units for the year. Approximately 27 million vehicles are expected to be in operation in the Middle East by 2023, comprising 18 million passenger cars and nine million commercial vehicles. The auto aftermarket is therefore also expected to observe a steady rise, and will reach a value of about US$18.5 billion by 2023 compared to its US$15 billion value in 2018, says Aranca. The market potential underlines the confidence voiced by exhibitors at Automechanika Dubai 2019, and they’ll put their best foot forward when the annual three-day event opens from 10-12 June 2019. Among these is Cyprus headquartered ALCO Filters, which will build on its millions of dollars

of revenue generated every year in the Middle East with its vast range of 3,500 filters. LoizosLouca, ALCO Filters’ Managing Director, said a lot of that growth is thanks to its exposure to the regional auto aftermarket via Automechanika Dubai: “ALCO Filters has grown by 480 percent since we started exhibiting at Automechanika Dubai which coincided with our focus on the Middle East and African (MEA) region since 2010,” said Louca. “Automechanika Dubai has changed over the last five years, becoming more and more prominent regionally and internationally. Our plans to expand in the MEA region are in line with the expansion of the show and its the visitor profile. “At the show this year, we’ll launch our private label ALCO Lubricants. These are top quality, German-made Lubricants for the complete range of passenger vehicle, light and heavy commercial vehicle applications.” Italian exhibitor UFI Filters, a global leader in filtration technology and thermal management, is another returning exhibitor to Automechanika Dubai in 2019, and will this year highlight its Original Equipment (OE) pedigree for both light and heavy-duty vehicle applications.
“We are still new comers to the Middle East market and our growth is still far from the potential we can capture, but our business plan is very aggressive as well as solid,” said Luca Betti, Group Aftermarket Business Unit Director at UFI Filters. “We foresee year 2020 as the most important in terms of growth, nevertheless a double digit increase is ongoing for 2019. As a leading supplier of complete solutions for fluid filtration and thermal management, UFI Filters will present at Automechanika Dubai 2019 its latest innovations, such as its revolutionary OE technology in engine air filtration, UFI MULTITUBE, and its new generation of cabin air filtration.” Elsewhere, American-headquartered Armolan is another Automechanika Dubai 2019 exhibitor that has high hopes in the region. The manufacturer will this year showcase its wide range of sun protection films along with the launch of its new patented paint protection films. TetyanaBianchino, Managing Director of Armolan Middle East, said: “We’re seeing potential growth in Saudi Arabia as they are now issuing driving licenses to women. And of course here in the UAE with the upcoming Dubai Expo 2020 that is expected to create a ripple effect on the whole GCC region.

MAN TGE Van Makes Big Impression in Switzerland with Smart All-Wheel Drive The event technicians from smARTec in Aarau, Switzerland, are boosting their levels of efficiency and safety thanks to the MAN TGE 4x4. “The four-wheel drive was the main reason that we bought an MAN TGE. We have mud to contend with in the summer and snow in the winter. The things we need are payload and traction. That isn’t possible with conventional, full-time all-wheel drive,” says Urs Schmid, summarising the factors that led his firm to buy two MAN TGEs with all-wheel drive. Schmid is an owner and board member of smARTec, based in the Swiss town of Aarau in the canton of Aargau. Before he and his colleagues became aware of MAN’s all-wheel drive system, 4x4s played a lesser role at the Swiss event production company. In their 63-unit fleet (19 cars, 12 vans, 7 trucks, 13 trailers and 12 semitrailers), only a few cars have all-wheel drive and only the newer trucks are equipped with on-demand MAN HydroDrive. And when it came to the vans, winter in the mountains often made it necessary for them to be fitted with anti-skid chains. A time-consuming process. 2018 and began to be used in January 2019. “The new MAN TGEs have immediately paid off for us,” Schmid is pleased to note. “Just the jobs in January and February on the frozen lake at St. Moritz would have meant additional effort and expense for us if we didn’t have four-wheel drive.” Due to heavy snowfall this year, only all-wheel drive vehicles were allowed access to the frozen lake at St. Moritz. Without the two MAN TGE 4x4s, other vehicles would have had to be organised to drive the lighting and sound equipment onto the lake. During the winter, St. Moritz hosts the Snow Polo World Cup, as well as the White Turf horse races on several weekends. smARTec’s event technicians were also busy at work at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2019, where they were able to achieve some impressive results, including from the ondemand differential lock on the rear axle. The event production team were fully satisfied with the MAN TGE 4x4’s performance, especially when driving off on steep terrain and uncleared

Naturally, that’s another financial advantage,” Schmid concludes. The supreme elegance of the MAN TGE 4x4’s all-wheel drive system leaves a compelling impression. In dry weather conditions, the van efficiently moves across the asphalt using only front wheel drive. This means the MAN TGE drives especially fuel-efficiently and without distortion. As Urs Schmid can confirm: “We didn’t notice any excess consumption when compared with the 4x2 vans in our fleet.” The special part of MAN’s all-wheel drive design? If traction is lost, the control unit responds automatically, engaging the rear-wheel drive in 0.084 seconds. This all occurs in less than the blink of an eye - part of the reason it is known as the smart all-wheel drive system. This rapid response is technically possible thanks to the modern clutch, which automatically distributes the driving torque between the front and rear axles. It is an electronically controlled multiple-disc clutch, with fins that run in an oil bath and are brought together axially as required.
The driving torque can be distributed between the front axle and the rear axle in a continuous process, all the way from 100% to 0% and vice-versa. Another clever feature comes courtesy of the driver assistance systems (ESP, ABS and ASR) that are fully integrated into the TGE’s all-wheel drive. This makes it the only all-wheel drive system on the van market to cater to every parameter of the vehicle’s sensor system. The clutch control unit receives information from all the vehicle sensors via the CAN bus, and can be freely combined with all the driver assistance systems. The result? A highly safe vehicle without a large increase in weight. Plus, the cargo space height and ground clearance are not restricted as a result of choosing four-wheel drive. This underscores the smart all-wheel drive system’s suitability for everyday use, which MAN offers at a highly attractive price. The two MAN vans in the hands of the Swiss technicians are equipped with 8-speed automatic gearboxes and a 177 hp engine rating. They also include driver assistance features, such as rear-view cameras, parking sensors and LED headlights. “We have high standards for our vehicles and we want to provide a great, safe vehicle to our staff,” Schmid stresses.

latest NEWS // DAIMLER With the fully electric eActros truck, MercedesBenz Trucks demonstrates that it is already possible today to complete heavy distribution tasks locally emission-free and quietly in the Murg valley in Southern Germany. The official handover of the eActros to regionally based logistics company Logistik Schmitt took place today on occasion of Daimler Trucks’ annual press conference held at the Unimog-Museum in Gaggenau. As part of the eWayBW project, commercial transport will be electric on the B462 federal road around Rastatt with the test operation of catenary trucks as of 2020. Whilst preparations for the construction of the necessary infrastructure are still ongoing, the eActros is mobile with its battery-electric drive, fully flexible and in need of only minimal infrastructure; nothing more than a charging station. From spring of this year, Logistik Schmitt will be operating the eActros in place of a conventional diesel truck as part of a field test transporting transmission housings. The eActros will be tested on an around 7 kilometres stretch in a demanding three-shift system between Logistik Schmitt’s warehouse in Ötigheim and Rastatt’s Mercedes-Benz Gaggenau plant. The daily tour of the 25-tonne truck totals around 168 kilometres. This represents the kick-off to a series of eActros field tests taking place over several years in the Murg valley and the surrounding region. As a next step, comparative tests with the catenary project will be carried out with an advanced version of the eActros as a semitrailer tractor variant with higher tonnage and range. Stefan Buchner, Head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks: “Our eActros has been out on public roads since June 2018 and has already covered more than 30,000 kilometres with its battery-electric drive. Together with customers, we have been compiling experiences of the eActros in regular everyday operations since September. Its range of 200 kilometres has proved to be absolutely realistic. The eActros completes its transportation tasks regardless of the route or other factors. The expenses
involved in installing one charging station at each customer’s premises is comparatively low. There is every indication that we are on the right track with our eActros concept. Our aim as of 2021 is to have locally emission-free and quiet heavy-duty series production trucks operating in cities – operating economically on a par with diesel trucks.” “We are delighted that Logistik Schmitt will now use the eActros and are excited about further interesting findings gained from practical operations”, Buchner continues.
First phase: practical test on the commuter route from Ötigheim to Rastatt Rainer Schmitt, Executive Partner of Logistik Schmitt: “In view of new challenges in the logistics business, we consistently have a look at the latest innovations – if we recognise potential in them. The approach which Mercedes-Benz Trucks has taken with the eActros has impressed us across the board. In testing the eActros, we are happy to contribute towards making the transport business of the future more ecological and sustainable. The commuter route from Ötigheim to Rastatt is ideally suited for this undertaking. We can thus put the eActros through its paces in difficult three-shift operations – under continuous stress. The eActros drives along precisely the same route as a conventional dieselpowered Actros which it is intended to replace. This provides an excellent opportunity for comparison.” In the first phase of the eActros test operation, Logistik Schmitt is integrating a vehicle with a swap body into the company fleet. The eActros transports up to twelve tonnes and drives twelve tours a day. The batteries in the

eActros are charged also whilst the vehicle is being loaded or unloaded so that the total 200-kilometre range of the eActros can be optimally used. Initially the vehicle will be charged using a mobile charging station. Second phase: parallel testing with the catenary truck As of the second phase of the eActros project in the Murg valley, the 25-tonne truck from the first phase will be replaced by an advanced version of the electric truck in form of a semitrailer tractor unit. Using the eActros semitrailer, Logistik Schmitt will deliver axle components along the 14 kilometres from the warehouse in Ötigheim to the Mercedes-Benz Gaggenau plant – mainly via the B462. This route is, for the most part, the same as that for the catenary project. The specifications of the eActros semitrailer truck will be comparable to those of the overhead catenary trucks, among other things in terms of the higher tonnage and range. This parallel testing of the eActros and the catenary trucks will take place for approximately one year and will deliver the most important data and findings necessary for comparing both concepts, e.g. in what way the vehicles are suitable for this operation. Third phase: direct comparison with the overhead catenary truck During the third phase of the project, which is expected to take place within the second 40 PlantAndEquipment.com | April 2019
phase, the eActros semitrailer truck will travel the exact catenary truck route for approximately one to two weeks so that a direct comparison can be made. This will serve to validate the second phase. During this direct comparison, the eActros will transport rolls of paper the 18 kilometres from the paper mills in Gernsbach-Obertsrot to the Fahrner logistics site in Kuppenheim – just like the trucks involved in the overhead-lines project. Conventional diesel Actros as a starting point for the concept comparison A conventional diesel Actros equipped to the Euro VI emissions standard and fitted with measuring equipment will serve as a neutral starting point for the comparison of the concepts and will drive along the overheadlines route. It will then be possible to compare the energy consumption of the electric trucks – battery-electric and catenary – with the consumption of the diesel truck. Currently no plans for catenary trucks at Daimler As a global manufacturer, Daimler is working on future-oriented solutions that have great potential for worldwide implementation. Due to the high infrastructure costs involved, the company does not see potential in overhead lines at present – also in view of the rapid development of battery and fuel cell technology.
latest NEWS // DAIMLER About eWayBW eWayBW is a pilot project for the research of hybrid trucks electrically driven with the help of overhead power lines. On the test route on the B462 between Kuppenheim and GernsbachObertsrot three sections will be electrified with overhead power lines. The specially equipped trucks can draw electric current from the overhead power lines. At the same time, a battery is charged which provides energy for further travel once the truck no longer has contact with the overhead power lines. The operation of such hybrid catenary trucks will be examined during a three-year pilot phase. The project is accompanied by scientific research. Planning, approval and construction of the pilot route will cost 17.6 million euros (source: www. ewaybw.de). About the operational eActros “innovation fleet” The so-called eActros “innovation fleet” started in September 2018. A total of 20 customers are using the eActros as a near-series-production 18 or 25 tonne truck. The customers drive the eActros in routine operations, testing its suitability for daily use. All test customers operate in short-radius distribution and use the eActros for tasks, which would otherwise be carried out by conventional diesel vehicles.
The customers cover a broad spectrum of different sectors and categories and use a range of body types. The test series can be broken down into two phases, each with ten customers and spanning a total of around two years. The development and testing of the heavy-duty electric truck in short-radius distribution operations is sponsored as part of the “Concept ELV²” project to varying degrees by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMUB) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). The eActros: architecture based entirely on electric drive The eActros is based on the frame of the Mercedes-Benz Actros. Beyond that, the eActros uses an architecture based entirely on electric drive with a large proportion of specific parts. The drive comes from two electric motors near the wheel hubs on the rear axle. Their output is 126 kW each, and the maximum torque is 485 Nm each. Downstream of the transmission that equates to 11,000 Nm each. The driving output is therefore on a level with a diesel truck. The maximal permitted axle load is the usual 11.5 tonnes. The energy is stored in lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 240 kWh. Depending on the available charging capacity, a full charge takes between two and eleven hours (at 150 or 20 kW respectively).

latest NEWS // DAIMLER Daimler commercial vehicles with an extensive electric portfolio Daimler has had experience of working with electric trucks since 2010 and its first fully electric series production truck has been on the market and used by customers since 2017: the light-duty Fuso eCanter truck. At the end of 2018, Daimler Trucks handed over the first medium-duty truck, a Freightliner eM2 to a customer and thus began practical tests in the USA for heavy and medium-duty electric trucks. The eCascadia for heavy-duty distribution is also to be tested. In the bus sector, delivery of the first Mercedes-Benz eCitaro took place at the end of the last year and the buses are in test operation with real customers. The Thomas Built Buses brand is launching the eC2 (also known as Jouley) in a small series. The first vehicles will be handed over to customers in 2019. With regard to
vans, the Mercedes-Benz Vans eVito recently became available and has already been delivered to its first customers. In the second half of 2019 the eSprinter will follow. The vehicles from Daimler Trucks, Daimler Buses and Mercedes-Benz Vans will thus cover the entire range of urban traffic with electric vehicles.

AN Truck & Bus is celebrating an extremely successful year in its city bus and coach business in 2018. In the last business year, the company achieved its highest ever amount of order intake with a total of 8,310 units. Sales have also been notably high: At 7,204 vehicles, this is the second-highest number of sales in company history, and the highest since the financial crisis in 2008. It allows efficiency increases of up to 30 percent to be achieved in material transport to production plants. “Many of our customers have already implemented forklift truck-free production supply via tugger or logistics trains,” explains Ralf Knaut, Project Manager Special Solutions at Linde Material Handling. This is because trains consisting of tow tractors and trailers are
latest NEWS // LINDE often superior to forklifts, especially in purely horizontal goods transport. They are loaded and unloaded from the side and therefore require less space than a forklift truck which is at right angles to the carriageway when setting a pallet down. In addition, the tugger trains can transport a larger amount of material to the assembly lines per journey. Both of these factors result in a lower volume of disruptive traffic, a lower risk of accidents and lower costs alongside higher productivity. “However, existing factory layouts cannot always be adapted to the requirements of tugger train solutions without constraints,” Knaut points out. In many existing plants, the source or destination are located at dead ends and are therefore not accessible for tugger trains that can only drive forwards with their trailers. This is where the Trolley Supply Truck comes into play. It complements the Linde logistics train and thus ensures further optimization on short and medium distances. “This makes it another piece in the process standardization mosaic and leads to more efficient intralogistics overall,” adds Markus Schmermund, Vice President Product Management Automation & Intralogistics, Linde Material Handling.

As a result, test runs were undertaken in various plants and in Linde Material Handling’s own forklift assembly area. These confirmed the solution’s advantages: “In the first place, users remarked on the safety benefits compared to single vehicles, because the Trolley Supply Truck offers the operator excellent visibility to the front, rear and around the vehicle. Moreover, both the reduced traffic volume and lower accident risk were noticeable, as two pallets or trolleys can be transported simultaneously,” reports the Linde product manager. Altogether, this led to efficiency gains of up to 30 percent.
Four meters long, 1.28 meters wide and 2.36 meters high, the Trolley Supply Truck is extremely compact and requires a carriageway width of merely 1.88 meters, including a safety clearance of 30 centimeters. If the route includes curves, a 2.30-meter-wide carriageway is sufficient for the load transporter to turn at right angles. The electrically steered wheels at both the front and rear ensure great directional stability both on straight stretches and in bends. The U-shaped load support is designed for a wide variety of goods carriers. For example, two standard Euro pallets or one double Euro pallet as well as other goods carriers such as trolleys measuring between 800 and 1600 x 1200 millimeters can be transported. The idea for this new vehicle concept arose following numerous customer projects and the experience gained from them. “It became increasingly clear to us that we needed an additional option, something between forklift

الجفالي تطرح شاحنات أكتروس الجديدة كلي ًا بأيدي سعودية
بعد أقل من عام من تقديم شاحنات مرسيدس-بنز الجديدة (أكتروس) فى السعودية ،أعلنت الشركة الوطنية لصناعة السيارات املحدودة ( ،)NAIإحدى شركات مجموعة الجفالي عن طرح املوديالت الجديدة من شاحنات أكتروس فى السوق السعودي والتي يتم إنتاجها بأملانيا وبتجميع أيدي سعودية في مصنع مرسيدس-بنز للشاحنات بجدة. وتأتي املنتجات الجديدة لشاحنات أكتروس لتعزز املميزات التي تشتهر بها منتجات العالمة األملانية الشهيرة مرسيدس-بنز، واملخصصة للمهام الثقيلة بفضل مرونتها وقوتها في العمل سواء في القطاعات الخفيفة أو الثقيلة لتشكل الحل األمثل لجميع متطلبات األعمال وملتانتها وكفاءة مقوماتها حتى في أصعب الظروف ،والتي توفر للسائق السالمة والراحة التامة. وبمناسبة طرح شاحنات أكتروس ،عبر السيد هايكو شولز مدير عام مرسيدس-بنز للمركبات التجارية بسعادته لتزويد السوق السعودي بشاحنات مرسيدس-بنز أكتروس ،الشاحنة األكثر كفاءة وموثوقية في فئتها ،وأكد أن املصنع يضم جميع مراحل اإلنتاج للشاحنات ،وفق مقاييس عاملية اإلنتاجية والجودة ،ومن خالل أيدي سعودية ماهرة. وصرح شولز قائ ً ال " :نفتخر في مجموعة الجفالي بتوفير شاحنات أكتروس بشراكة مع مرسيدس-بنز ،والتي يمكن لعمالئنا الوثوق بها واالعتماد عليها في مختلف أعمالهم على كافة الطرقات مما يتيح لهم التركيز على أعمالهم الفعلية ويمنحهم راحة البال فيما يتعلق باملركبات والشاحنات لديهم". وتعتبر شاحنات األكتروس من مصانع مرسيــدس بنز األكثر نجاح ًا من حيث تقــديم الحل األمثل لتلبية حاجات الشركــات العاملة في مجــال النقل الــبري ،وأيضــ ًا مجال اإلنشاءات واملقاوالت. وتٌعد الشاحنة األكثر مبيع ًا في املنطقة ،حيث ِبيع منها أكثر من 760ألف شاحنة على مستوى العالم حتى اآلن .كما أن جميع أجزاء شاحنة أكتروس -بدء ًا من املحرك حتى املصابيح األمامية- مصممة وفق ًا ألعلى معايير السالمة األوروبية املتعلقة بالكفاءة واملوثوقية. ولعل ميزة السالمة األبرز هي مساعد الفرملة النشط 4املتوفر اختياري ًا ،حيث يعمل نظام فرملة الطوارئ هذا املرتكز على تقنية ال 69

ا ردار على تفعيل أقصى مستوى للفرملة عند الضرورة من أجل التوقف الكامل قبل االصطدام باألجسام املتحركة أو الثابتة في األمام ،وبالتالي يمكنه أن ينقذ األرواح .كما يحذّر النظام السائق من أي اصطدام وشيك باملارة ،ويف ّعلُ في الوقت نفسه من الفرملة جزئي ًا. و تأتي شاحنات «أكتروس» بخيارات مختلفة من محركات بست او ثماني اسطوانات لتلبية املتطلبات املختلفة ملهام العمل .وهذه املحركات بمكوناتها امليكانيكية القوية وااللكترونية الذكية تقدم أدا ًء استثنائي ًا سواء من ناحية التوفير في استهالك الوقود أو قوة التسارع واالعتمادية .وتضاهيها في ذلك أجهزة نقل الحركة االستثنائية األداء ذات التناسق الدقيق واملتزامن في تغيير السرعات ال.16 ومن أهم النقاط التى ركزت عليها مرسيدس فى بناء هذة الشاحنة هو نظام القيادة اآللي ،والذي يعمل بشكل مستقل عن حركة املرور، ويستمد معلوماته من كم كبير من املستشعرات حول الشاحنة ،إذ يعمل الرادار على مراقبة السيارات في األمام ،وتعمل الكاميرتني املثبتتني أسفل الزجاج األمامي على مسح الطريق وكشف العوائق ومراقبة املسار ،نظام املستشعرات يشمل 4كاميرات أخرى مثبتة بد ًال من املرايات االعتيادية والتي تغذي كمبيوتر السيارة باملعلومات الالزمة عن النقطة العمياء واملركبات في الخلف. واختتم شولز قوله " :نحن على ثقة بقدرة الجيل الجديد من شاحنات أكتروس على املساهمة بدعم الخطوات التي تتخذها اململكة من خالل الرؤية املستقبلية 2030لرسم مالمح مستقبل قطاع النقل القائم على االبتكار .وندرك تماما إمكانيات النمو القوية فى اململكة العربية السعودية ولدينا طموحات كبيرة ملواكبة هذا النمو في ظل مناخ االستثمار الجيد الذى توفره اململكة لتحقيق رؤية ".2030 يذكر أن مصنع تجميع الشاحنات في مجموعة الجفالي للسيارات، يعد أكبر مصنع لتجميع شاحنات مرسيدس -بنز في الشرق األوسط وقد تأسس في عام 1978م كمشروع مشترك بني شركة إبراهيم الجفالي وإخوانه للسيارات وشركة مرسيدس -بنز .ودشنه قائد مسيرة اململكة آنذاك ،امللك خالد بن عبد العزيز (رحمه اهلل) ليكون مواكب ًا لنهضة البناء التي تشهدها اململكة العربية السعودية ومساهم ًا في دعم حركتها االقتصادية.
