It’s been a busy season for Arabian Auto Agency (AAA) as the official IVECO distributor in Saudi Arabia recently delivered over 70 IVECO trucks to multiple transportation clients in Riyadh.

Steady Routes ordered 40 new IVECO trucks as the transport company is expanding its transportation fleet due to increased logistics demand for logistics in Saudi Arabia this year. The new Iveco trucks will enhance the Steady Routes’ fleet reliability, reduce its carbon footprint and serve the growing needs of their customers. The models in the order include the Iveco 440 Trakkers.

Saudi-based Expertise Contracting Co. recently signed an agreement to order 34 XCMG Terrain Cranes from Diesel Machinery Company Ltd. The contract includes all-terrain and rough terrain cranes which will be used for the growing Saudi construction and energy markets.

The sizable order makes it XCMG’s largest ever from a customer in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Hafash Group, based in Riyadh, ordered 24 new IVECO 4×2 tractor head trucks while Al-Kharj (Al-Dossari Transportation Co.) ordered 10 new IVECO 4×2 tractor head trucks..

METSO OUTOTEC WINS ORDER FOR LARGE IRON ORE PELLET PLANT IN OMAN Metso Outotec has signed an agreement for the delivery of engineering and key equipment for an iron ore Grate Kiln pellet plant to Vulcan Pelletizing LLC. The plant is located in the industrial port of Sohar, the Sultanate of Oman. The value of the order is approximately EUR 33 million, and it has been booked in Metals’ Q2/2022 orders received. The pellet plant will supply pellets to Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel LLC, Oman.

Metso Outotec’s scope of delivery consists of the supply of core pelletizing plant equipment, including the traveling grate, rotary kiln, and annular cooler. The design is based on the Grate Kiln plants that Metso Outotec is currently supplying for a customer in India. The plant, which is planned to produce six million tons of high-quality iron ore pellets per year, is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2023.

“This is the third order for a 6 mtpa Grate-Kiln pelletizing plant within the last 16 months. Metso Outotec is proud to be the Vulcan group’s selected partner in iron ore pelletizing, and we look forward to propelling the Vulcan group to be a global

THE RED SEA DEVELOPMENT COMPANY APPOINTS MAMMOET During a signing ceremony in Umluj, Saudi Arabia, The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC) and Mammoet have signed a contract for the Sheybarah Island Resort, a key part of the Red Sea Project in Saudi Arabia. Under the scope of the contract, Mammoet is commissioned to deliver 73 prefabricated villas from Grankraft’s yard to the site and install them onto their foundations: on the beach and over water.

Sheybarah hotel is a 73-key hyper luxury resort on Sheybarah island; located in the south east of the archipelago on the Red Sea. The island is home to a highly diverse environment with mangroves, white sand dune beaches and some of the most beautiful and pristine coral reefs in the world hosting many species of fish and other marine animals.

The resort, designed by Dubai-based architectural firm Killa Design, comprises uniquely shaped overwater and beach villas, arrival, front of house and F&B buildings and other facilities.

The approach to the façade design was to minimize visual impact of the architecture on the environment by employing a highly reflective polished stainless steel cladding that reflects the natural surroundings: the ocean, the sky, sand dunes and the reef below..

DP WORLD AND THE SAUDI PORTS AUTHORITY ANNOUNCE NEW PARTNERSHIP

GCC USES TEREX CRANES IN DUBAI CREEK General Construction Company (GCC) is working on a stunning development in Dubai, a project in which they chose 14 Terex Cranes to assist them with. The Terex Luffing Jib Tower Cranes, as models CTL140-10 and CTL260-18, were selected for this massive undertaking.

The tower cranes are installed mainly free standing with tower heights up to 110m or with in-shaft installation and feature at least a 50m jib.

DP World and the Saudi Ports Authority announced the signing of a 30-year agreement with an investment value of more than $133.33 million to build a state-of-the-art, port-centric Logistics Park at the Jeddah Islamic Port.

Jewel of the Creek is a 1 million sqm mixed use development in the Port Saeed area of Deira occupying a strategic location at the north shore of Dubai Creek. The project incorporates a mix of residential, commercial, hospitality and recreational use and will transform this location to a vibrant urban centre and the prominent landmark in the heart of Dubai..

The agreement aims to establish a logistics park which spans over 415,000 square metres, with an in-land container depot capacity of approximately 250,000 TEU and warehousing storage space of 100,000 square metres. Future expansions could increase the storage space to 200,000 square metres..

LUCID TO BUILD NEW EV PRODUCTION PLANT IN SAUDI ARABIA Lucid Group announced the signing of agreements with the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Industrial Development Fund, and the Economic City at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), as it lays the groundwork for a full production factory in Saudi Arabia. The agreements are expected to accelerate Saudi Arabia’s strategic goal to transform and diversify its economy through the development of sustainable energy and transportation.

Lucid reviewed multiple opportunities before selecting KAEC in Saudi Arabia as the optimal location and opportunity for its first international manufacturing facility. The new manufacturing hub will be fully owned by Lucid and enable the company to meet growing international demand for luxury electric vehicles.

Lucid estimates that the location of Lucid’s first international manufacturing plant in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia may result in up to $3.4 billion of value to Lucid over 15 years, and the facility will enable Lucid to address growing demand for Lucid’s products.

Lucid plans to establish operations at KAEC for re-assembly of Lucid Air vehicle “kits” that are pre-manufactured at the company’s U.S. AMP-1 Manufacturing Facility in Casa Grande, Arizona, and, over time, for production of complete vehicles. At its peak, the company expects to manufacture up to 150,000 vehicles per year at the KAEC facility.

Construction of the plant is expected to start in the first half of 2022. Vehicles in the initial phase will be slated for the market in Saudi Arabia, but Lucid plans to export finished

vehicles to other global markets, including exclusive models designed to appeal to Lucid’s discerning customers in the region and beyond. Lucid’s AMP-1 in Arizona will continue to serve as the company’s central manufacturing hub, with the Lucid Production System and other manufacturing technologies refined in the United States before deployment at other factory sites. The company expects that its production capacity in Arizona and Saudi Arabia will exceed 500,000 vehicles per year in aggregate when each facility reaches its target capacity.

Lucid anticipates that Saudi Arabia’s efforts to foster an automotive ecosystem through its Saudi Vision 2030 should yield cost savings for Lucid as well as environmental benefits, with reduced transportation of product to the customer. The project should also enable opportunities for Saudi Arabia to diversify and transition from fossil fuels to sustainable energy and transportation..

TROJAN GENERAL CONTRACTING ORDERS 5 VOLVO TRUCKS WITH ATLAS TIPPER BODIES Leading construction group, Trojan General Contracting recently ordered 5 units of Volvo FMX 6×4 chassis trucks mounted with ATLAS 18 CBM Tipper Bodies. Al Futtaim, the UAE’s official dealer for Volvo Trucks, supplied the Volvo FM 370 Trucks while Al Shirawi Equipment Co. supplied the ATLAS 18 CBM Tipper Bodies.

The fleet is also equipped with tip ending solutions from Hyva tipping gears that are made of high carbon steel.

Trojan General Contracting is planning to use the new trucks for major infrastructure development projects across the UAE including the Etihad Rail project..

SIX RAIMONDI FLATTOPS AT WORK FOR NEW MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT IN IRAQ Official Raimondi Cranes agent, Akem Group, deployed four Raimondi MRT159s and two MRT144s for the construction of a massive mix-used development in one of Iraq’s main cities. As part of the city’s redevelopment plan, the new complex represents Erbil’s modernization with its offering of 11 contemporary residential buildings, alongside retail and hospitality.

The MRT159s, operating onsite with a maximum lifting capacity of 8t, have all been installed with jib lengths of 65meters and tower heights ranging between 45m and 124m.

The two tallest flattops, standing at 112.4m and 124m, have been anchored to the building, while the remaining cranes are freestanding.

The two MRT144s-8t, currently standing at 36m and 55.3m with jib length of 43m and 51m respectively, are at work for the construction of Empire Square, area located in the center of the new residential development. The six flattops, lifting

all types of construction materials, will remain onsite for 18 additional months.

The lighting towers will be used for the NEOM Project located near the Tabuk region.

BAUER CONSTRUCTS PILES FOR A MEGA PROJECT IN SAUDI ARABIA The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC), appointed marine contracting specialist Archirodon to design and

build the iconic bridge to the Shurayrah Island, as well as two smaller bridges in Saudi Arabia. Archirodon tasked

Saudi BAUER Foundation Contractors Ltd., a subsidiary

of BAUER Spezialtiefbau GmbH, with the construction of piles for several bridge structures.

In the first phase of the project, Bauer constructed three test piles for a load test, and in the second phase a total of 37 onshore piles with a diameter of 1,300mm for Bank Nizwa recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oasis Trading and Equipment Company to extend financing to the company’s customers and help them in buying Caterpillar machines in Oman.

The agreement was signed by Khaled Al Kayed, CEO of Bank Nizwa and Bashar Ahmed Aref Al Barghouthi, General Manager of Oasis Trading and Equipment.

As per the agreement, Bank Nizwa will be providing structured Islamic financing facilities to customers of Oasis Trading and Equipment Company to enable them to buy ‘CAT’ machines at subsidised rates. As a company with over 60 years of experience in the Middle East, Oasis Trading and Equipment Company deals in various CAT machinery, heavy equipment, and power systems, which are used for a wide variety of applications, including earthmoving, building and construction, mining, road making, demolition, waste and scrap handling, electric power generation, and marine propulsion.

deliveries by barge was optimal, so we were able to keep to the schedule.”

A BAUER BG 28 drilling rig was placed and safely

secured on the Barge to carry out the drilling work. The work began in September 2021 and was successfully completed in February 2022..

ZAHID TRACTOR TO SUPPLY 69 GENERATOR SETS TO SAUDI ARABIA’S RED SEA PROJECT Caterpillar Inc. announced that Cat dealer Zahid Tractor was selected by the main contractor to supply power solutions that deliver 32 MW of prime power for The Red Sea Project, a nearly 28,000 square-kilometer regenerative tourism destination under development along Saudi Arabia’s west coast.

The project leverages Caterpillar’s expertise in supplying and maintaining field-proven power solutions that have enabled operation on various hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), biodiesel, and blended fuel products for more than a decade.

Zahid Tractor is supplying 69 generator sets that deliver 32MW of prime power. The generator sets can run on both conventional diesel and B100 biodiesel to supply energy during the construction phase of The Red Sea Project. Once complete, the luxury tourist destination will include a total of 16 hotels, an international airport and other commercial operations scheduled for completion in 2023.

Zahid Tractor has already delivered, installed and commissioned most of the generator sets in weatherresistant, sound-attenuated enclosures that are currently being used to support construction activities and workforce

accommodations. Zahid Tractor is also addressing uptime needs through Customer Value Agreements (CVAs), which include customer technician training, regular maintenance at scheduled intervals, and around-the-clock, on-demand technical support.

Additionally, most of the units are equipped with Cat Connect Remote Access Monitoring (RAM), Caterpillar’s advanced data visualization, reporting and alert offering..

Plant & Equipment travels to Dobříš in the Czech Republic to attend Doosan Bobcat’s first Demo Days for MEA dealers and customers in almost three years.

he global pandemic caused myriad challenges for companies operating across the entire spectrum of industry, not least the plant and equipment sector.

Strict local lockdowns coupled with wide-ranging international travel restrictions meant that projects of all sizes had to be put on hold and, in many cases, the acquisition of new equipment was placed on the backburner.

But manufacturers’ bottom lines were not the only thing to take a hit during this period. The pandemic also put paid to physical meetings, and while the widespread adoption of video conferencing software enabled businesses to maintain relationships remotely, many missed the ability to meet clients and suppliers in person.

Gaby Rhayem, Regional Director – Middle East and Africa at Doosan Bobcat EMEA, certainly falls into this category. Before the pandemic, his team regularly organised events at the manufacturer’s Dobříš Campus in the Czech Republic, enabling dealers and customers from across the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region to try out the latest Bobcat machines first-hand.

“These are the first MEA Demo Days that Bobcat has hosted in almost three years,” Rhayem tells Plant & Equipment with a smile, shielding his eyes from Dobříš’s midday sun. “The last time we were able to invite people here was in October 2019, before the pandemic. The last time we met at all was at our MEA Dealer Meeting, which took place in February 2020 at our facility in Pontchâteau, France. Since then, we haven’t been able to meet at all. That’s why we’re calling this our ‘reunion’.

“Of course, we’ve been able to maintain contact with our dealers and customers via phone and video calls, but we haven’t been able to catch up with them in person,” he continues. “That’s why we’re so excited to bring everybody here to Dobříš. All our MEA dealers are in attendance: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Iraq, Yemen, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Gabon, Angola, Mozambique, Sudan and South Africa – we’ve invited more than 80 people in total.”

Aside from the advantages of meeting with contacts face-toface, Rhayem explains there are also a number of practical benefits offered by Demo Days. “There’s nothing better than giving dealers and customers the opportunity to see the machines and try them out in person,” he says. “Look over there. You can see someone using a Bobcat tree transplanter attachment. We could show that person videos, we could share brochures and supporting information, but it wouldn’t compare to actually trialling the technology first-hand.

“Over there, someone else is cutting the ground with one of our wheel saws,” Rhayem continues. “That guy now knows exactly what the unit can do, and he’ll be thinking of the various applications for which it can be used. That’s the beauty of Demo Days: they enable attendees to jump straight into the latest Bobcat machines, start the engines and assess their capabilities. There’s nothing better than getting a feel for a particular model. Customers benefit by being able to test drive the equipment, whereas dealers can return to their regions and speak more authoritatively about our offering.”

Of course, flying the best part of a hundred people from the MEA to the Czech Republic is a costly exercise, even for a multibillion-dollar company such as Bobcat. So, does Rhayem expect a suitable return on investment? Do Demo Days really translate into new orders?

“They absolutely do,” he replies. “And we mustn’t forget, it’s very kind of our dealers and customers to come here. Taking two or three days out of their busy schedules is not easy. But they are keen to attend because they understand the benefits – especially when there are so many new models in our line-up.

In the current climate, machines are often sold before they

arrive at the dealership. Suppliers aren’t able to carry the same volume of stock as they did before the pandemic, so the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at Demo Days represents a distinct advantage.”

In addition to time-honoured favourites, Bobcat’s Demo Days featured a broad range of new and yet-to-be-launched models and technologies for attendees to try. However, as is the case for the vast majority of equipment manufacturers, many of these innovations have been developed with Western markets in mind, and so are unlikely to be rolled out within MEA markets for some time. Nevertheless, Rhayem is adamant that showcasing cutting-edge advancements to dealers and customers in his region is still a worthwhile exercise.

“For sure, some countries are ahead of others when it comes to the latest innovations,” he says. “For example, Bobcat has been selling one-tonne electrical excavators in the United States and Europe for almost a year now. We haven’t sold this product in MEA markets, though, because the technology is more expensive than internal combustion units and there’s no regulatory incentive to use electrical models. Our regional customers are free to invest in these products, of course, but they’d need to pay extra and, right now, it doesn’t always make commercial sense to do so.

“However, consider some of the latest regional megaprojects,” Rhayem continues. “NEOM in Saudi Arabia, for example, requires all machinery working on site to be electrical. So,

that will be rolled out to benefit end users over the months and years to come. In addition to previewing the MT100 Mini Track Loader, Bobcat chose the Dobříš Demo Days to debut concepts such as its brand-new object avoidance technology and the T7X compact track loader.

Bobcat MT100 Mini Track Loader | Preview Designed to replace the need for wheelbarrows, shovels and other hand tools, Bobcat plans to launch this compact track loader later this year. MEA Demo Days attendees, however, were given the opportunity to undertake some hands-on testing ahead of time. Despite being narrow enough to pass through gates, doorways and other tight spaces, the MT100 still packs a punch with a rated operating capacity of more than 450kg. This piece of kit is specifically designed to boost productivity on both urban and small-scale jobsites.

Bobcat Object Avoidance with Radar Sensors | Concept These state-of-the-art sensors have been developed in collaboration with the manufacturer’s partners at Ainstein, a US-based radar specialist that received a strategic equity investment from Bobcat back in 2021. Based on similar technology to that employed by parking sensors already used on cars and agricultural machinery, this system is able to either passively warn operators of obstacles or actively stop the machines to which it is fitted.

when the time comes, dealers that can supply electrical miniexcavators, compact track loaders, skid-steer loaders and so on, are going to have the edge over their competitors.

“This is what we’re discussing with our partners at GTE Saudi Arabia, Bobcat’s authorised dealer in the Kingdom,” he adds.

“They’re really interested in ordering electrical track loaders for these sorts of projects. It’s just a matter of identifying how many machines are needed, the delivery timelines and how we can make this happen. Because, ultimately, if GTE can acquire the machines and align on pricing with their customers, they will order them.”

So, all in all, the advantages offered by in-person gatherings appear to far outweigh the costs of hosting them. When asked how it feels to be reunited with the manufacturer’s MEA family, Rhayem replies: “Do you remember the headline of your last article (see Issue 252 of Plant & Equipment). It was ‘Go Big or Go Home’. Here, we say ‘Come back to our home’.

We are at the home of Bobcat, after all.”

Commenting on the technology, Vijay Nerva, Bobcat’s Innovation and Acceleration Head for EMEA, said: “It is no surprise that operators often hit objects with their machines.

This happens due to poor visibility, high density of moving objects surrounding the machine, or a simple lack of attention.

We have developed a solution that assists operators in performing work without worrying about their surroundings, resulting in higher productivity and more awareness.”

Bobcat T7X Compact Track Loader | Concept Billed as the ‘world’s first all-electric compact track loader’, the Bobcat T7X is an eye-catching concept that is being developed in line with the manufacturer’s emissions and noise-reduction goals. Its 62-kWh lithium-ion battery pack can deliver up to four hours of continuous use, thanks in part to a load-sensing power management system that automatically reduces the output to suit the task being performed.

With such a diverse range of technologies on display, one could be forgiven for wondering whether Bobcat’s R&D experts are working towards a specific vision or, instead, operating as spontaneous problem-solvers. Plant & Equipment caught up with Joel Honeyman, Vice President of Global Innovation at Bobcat, to find out more.

“Even so, we do have a direction of travel,” he continues. “We have developed a 10-year view of what we call ‘The inevitable future’. We’re interested in ascertaining how our customers will work a decade from now, subject to future advancements in technology. This is our guide; we take a lot of input from this roadmap in terms of the solutions we choose to develop.”

“We have to take a pragmatic approach to innovation in the sense that we develop individual solutions that might be deployed on specific platforms,” Honeyman explains.

“However, by combining these innovations, we can create a

“We have been Bobcat’s official dealer in Iraq for around six years now and, believe me, our business has grown rapidly,” he tells Plant & Equipment. “It’s good because there are a lot of opportunities in Iraq at the moment. The main problem we face is getting hold of enough machines, but we receive strong support from Bobcat’s management team in this regard.

“I can say that we are dominating the market in Iraq right now,” Maulwed continues. “In fact, Bobcat and Vara Company enjoy a more than 90-percent market share within the country’s

compact machinery segment. And I’m talking about all types of smaller machinery, from mini-excavators, backhoe loaders and telehandlers to skid-steer and compact track loaders.”

Mohamed Shams Elramly, General Manager of General Trading & Equipment (GTE) Saudi Arabia, is a man with decades of experience working alongside Bobcat. “I’m GM of the oldest Bobcat dealer in the world,” he says, explaining that GTE’s relationship with the manufacturer dates back to 1976. “Bobcat has a strong reputation in Saudi Arabia and there are numerous applications driving demand. We provide machines that are used for construction, telecommunications and electricity infrastructure, and even cleaning projects right across the Kingdom.

“Business hasn’t quite returned to pre-pandemic levels just yet, but we’re doing okay,” Elramly adds. “As is the case for all manufacturers, our biggest issue relates to a shortage of machines. The supply chain represents a challenge across our region at present. But, for us, if we had more machines, they would be sold – no problem.”

Enter Andrew Higgins, Vice President of Doosan Financial Solutions Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA), whose job it is to ensure Bobcat’s dealers and customers have the financial backing they need to acquire stock and machinery.

“We’re a small team of five people, and we look after the financing requirements of around 180 Bobcat dealers across the EMEA region,” he says. “Every one of our dealers carries stock, so, instead of expecting them to acquire stock and pay us a month or two later, we arrange stock finance facilities. These enable our network to take delivery of Bobcat machines and postpone payment for a period of up to six months, depending on when the stock gets sold. Another part of our job is to fund that same equipment into the end user market thorough our zero- or low-interest rate programmes. We expect dealers to carry stock and we do all we can to help them sell it.

As a long-standing GTE customer, Eng. Ali H Al-Ayuni, General Supervisor of Equipment at Al-Ayuni Investment and Contracting Co, offered his perspective on the advantages that the manufacturer’s models offer to end users. “Bobcat is number one within Saudi’s compact machinery segment,” he says. “In fact, when it comes to smaller machinery, the company is number one in the world. Bobcat’s products are of the highest quality, which is why we like to use them.”

Maulwed and Elramly are clearly adept at connecting end users with Bobcat machinery, but adequate financial mechanisms are also necessary in order to keep the wheels of business in motion.

In total, approximately 80 of Bobcat’s dealers and customers from across the MEA region attended the 2022 Demo Days.

“I’ve been with Bobcat for ten years, five of those in my current role and our finance revenues have doubled during that period,” Higgins continues. “Last year, we registered $1.6 billion in finance revenues. In 2017, when I took this job, we registered around $750 million.

“Clearly, demand for Bobcat products has increased significantly during that time and the demand for financing continues to grow, particularly in these times of political instability and economic uncertainty,” he adds. “Our programmes are being well received right now and we expect to finance even more stock into the dealer network once the market’s supply chain issues ease.”

Given the perspectives offered by Maulwed and Elramly, Higgins’ prediction seems likely to prove accurate. For instance, with a 90-percent-plus share of Iraq’s compact equipment market, one might assume that Vara Company’s potential for expansion is limited but, encouragingly for Bobcat, the dealer’s CEO says this is not the case.

“The market in Iraq has more potential,” Maulwed emphasises. “This year, many of our customers are unsure whether or not projects are going to be available. However, it’s a very low-risk and low-cost option for them to deal with us. As such, it’s a matter of educating end users and contractors through activities such as workshops and demonstrations. “At the same time, given Vara Company’s high market share in the compact equipment segment, it’s also very important for us to defend our position,” Maulwed adds. “We don’t want to show any weaknesses to our competitors, so there’s no room for complacency.”

In terms of newly introduced models and technologies that are likely to prove popular in the Kingdom, GTE’s Elramly echoes Rhayem’s point about electric-powered machinery. “We can see there will be demand for electrical track machines in Saudi Arabia,” he explains. “This will be an important segment for us, especially when it comes to important developments like NEOM and the Red Sea Project.”

All things considered, Bobcat’s MEA Demo Day ‘reunion’ looks set to pay dividends for the manufacturer – and not only in terms of its order book. ith the GCC’s road-related pipeline standing at

more than $76 billion as of Q1 2021, according

to ResearchAndMarkets.com, the development of

transport infrastructure represents big business across Gulf.

However, as was the case for many industries, this sector was adversely affected by strict national lockdowns and global

travel restrictions introduced to combat Covid-19. It’s therefore unsurprising that demand for motor graders took a hit during the pandemic.

Fortunately, things appear to be looking up for grader

manufacturers and dealers active in the region. Analysis

from GlobalData, published in Q1 2022, showed that urban construction projects are driving growth across the region

thanks to ongoing modernisation efforts within major cities such as Dubai, Riyadh and Cairo.

But are such projects translating into an uptick in orders of motor graders? According to Al-Bahar, Caterpillar’s exclusive dealer in the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain, there is growing demand for these units in terms of both sales and rentals.

“As long as there is development happening in the region, demand for the right machines will continue to exist,” explains Samer Ismail, Product Manager – Earthmoving and Excavation at Al-Bahar. “Growth demands new projects and new projects require the latest machines and reliable support.

“We are not only selling new machines, but we are also seeing customers come to us for their used and rental requirements,” Ismail continues. “This allows us to give end users exactly what they need based on the projects and budgets in question.

The increase in Al-Bahar’s market share is proof that Cat motor graders are being well received across the GCC.”

Machinery manufacturer Powerplus also seems to be witnessing a post-pandemic rise in orders for its graders. “We have seen a slowdown in demand for motor graders during the last 12 months due to the Covid-19 situation,” CEO Marcus Ong tells Plant & Equipment. “However, as the market has started to open up, there has been a significant increase in inquiries and orders for motor graders, not only in the Middle East region but globally.”

For Du Dagong, Vice General Manager at Shantui, the situation could certainly be rosier in the Middle East. “Due to the

Covid-19 pandemic and its subsequent negative impact, the sales performance for motor graders in the last 12 months has definitely been lower than in pre-pandemic years,” he explains. “Of course, this is a common challenge faced by all manufacturers; not only Shantui.

“As with other construction equipment segments, demand for motor graders depends on local investment in infrastructure construction,” Du continues. “To a certain degree, economic development in the Middle East has been negatively affected by a downward trend in oil prices since 2015. This situation lasted for several years until 2020. During this dark period, regional motor grader demand remained at a low level.”

While the pandemic certainly hampered motor grader sales, Bruce Zhang, Middle East Region Sales Manager for SDLG, remains optimistic about the segment’s longer-term prospects.

“The Gulf market has recovered well thanks to the high oil price over the past 12 months,” he says. “It is a good period for my colleagues and me in this region. We expect demand to reach even higher levels as Middle East governments begin to restart construction projects that were put on hold during the pandemic.”

All in all, it appears that better times lie ahead for motor grader manufacturers and dealers active in the Middle East, but which segments are currently driving demand for these units?

Eng. Mahmoud Ayoub, Sales Manager at Masaha Global, SANY’s authorised dealer in Kuwait, points to the usual suspects. “Sales performance for motor graders has been very good during the last year,” he tells Plant & Equipment. “Current levels of demand are high, with significant requirements coming from the road infrastructure and oil and gas sectors.”

Al-Bahar’s Ismail agrees, pointing out that – although niche – motor graders offer a number of functions that are difficult to achieve using alternative equipment. “Several industries make use of motor graders, but in the Middle East, they are mostly used for a handful of applications,” he explains. “Roadworks, such as street, highway and parking lot construction, wouldn’t exist without motor graders. Operators use these machines to flatten and smooth surfaces before the asphalt can be laid. The units can also be deployed to maintain unpaved roads.

according to Ayoub. “It’s been a good year so far, and we expect demand to improve further in H2 2022 and during 2023,” he explains.

Zhang is equally optimistic about SDLG’s prospects, revealing that he is anticipating a twofold increase in regional motor grader sales during the second half of the year, compared to H1. Shantui’s Du concurs, noting: “As governmental budgets accumulate, we predict the next round of infrastructure investments are imminent – especially in markets such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Yemen, Iraq and Syria.”

“Motor graders are also required for more general construction projects in the Gulf,” Ismail continues. “Again, workers can use these machines to level surfaces before laying the foundations and infrastructure needed for homes, commercial buildings and other structures.”

Demand may be increasing in the Middle East at present, but what lies ahead for those supplying motor graders to the region? Masaha Global, which is in the process of extending its operations beyond Kuwait (see Issue 251 of Plant & Equipment), is benefitting from an expanding order book,

“Our prediction for the Middle East’s motor grader market during H2 2022 is that Powerplus will witness increased demand as projects postponed during the pandemic start to resume,” Ong says. “Government budgets that were ringfenced for medical supplies will also begin to be reallocated to infrastructure projects as the Covid-19 situation continues to stabilise.”

As Al-Bahar’s Ismail concludes: “We are glad to see our market share for motor graders increasing, thanks to high demand in related sectors. Moreover, graders are among our top three highest-selling earthmoving machines across the region. So, our projections for 2022 look perfect and we are hopeful for an even more profitable year ahead.”.

Next-level innovation Although the fundamental design and applications of motor graders have remained largely unchanged over the years, manufacturers the world over are continuously striving to enhance productivity, efficiency and operator comfort through advanced technology.

“Caterpillar always starts with the best in efficiency, effectiveness and power, and then makes its models even better with upgrades that enhance their most popular features,” explains Al-Bahar’s Ismail. “From the latest generation of advanced control joysticks to satellite-linked telematics, Caterpillar is constantly working to make the connection between operator and equipment more intuitive, responsive and flexible.”

“In addition to road construction, civil engineering and mining activities are driving demand for our motor graders,” says Ong. “Our most popular models are the Powerplus PP12GIX and PP14G-IX, which come equipped with 12-ft and 14-ft moldboards, respectively. Users who require more powerful machines tend to opt for the PP14G-IX Advance model, as it boasts a 220-hp engine and ZF transmission.”

“One innovation worthy of note is pilot joystick controls, which are located at either side of the operator’s seat,” Ong continues. “This technology is designed to replace the 10-lever control format, making operations more user-friendly.

However, many still prefer the conventional lever system because, unlike with other heavy equipment, motor graders tend to be driven by specially skilled operators who have

grown used to the conventional layout over many years. So, introducing more electronic functionality has its pros and cons; it really depends on user preference.”

While all manufacturers must offer a range of options to cater to varying customer requirements, Zhang notes that SDLG is continuing to invest in new innovations to ensure long-term success. “The G9220F is our most popular model in the Middle East, and the G9290 – our largest unit – is ideal for mining activities,” he says, adding that SDLG has improved its motor graders’ rear-axle functionality to enhance their performance while operating on slopes.

Shantui’s Du points out that, technology aside, any machinery deployed in the Middle East must be capable of handling even the most challenging of operating environments.

“The main concern of regional motor grader customers is quality; the machines must be able to endure high-pressure worksites, so durability, stability and efficiency are vital,” he notes. “At the same time, aftersales service, spare parts availability and ease of maintenance are equally important.”

TABE Hammers, Galen and MB Crusher tell James Morgan how they are capitalising on the vast untapped potential within Africa’s equipment attachments market.

rom road construction to mining, and pretty much every segment in between, attachments represent an attractive option for operators and contractors looking to achieve the best possible value from their existing fleet of machinery. It’s therefore no wonder that so many manufacturers are keen to grab a slice of this multibillion-dollar industry – especially in African markets.

Researchers at Fact.MR anticipate the global market for equipment attachments will achieve a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.4 percent from 2020 to 2030, reaching a combined value in excess of $6.7 billion by the end of this period. The upwards trajectory of development across Africa is likely to be even steeper, with the continent’s construction market predicted to register a 7.5 percent CAGR during the period 2022 to 2027, according to Mordor Intelligence.

Amaia Romero Rubio, Export Area Manager at TABE Hammers, is certainly aware of potential offered by African markets. “We have been collaborating with distributors in countries such as Namibia and Algeria for many years,” she tells Plant & Equipment. “More recently, we have started to supply hammers to additional markets, including Madagascar, Angola, Mauritania, Cape Verde and Morocco.”

Founded in 1968, Spain-headquartered TABE Hammers has more than half a century of experience in the construction, demolition, recycling, mining, forestry and agriculture sectors.

Although probably best known for its hydraulic breakers, the manufacturer produces an array of machinery accessories ranging from crusher and screening buckets to materials handling and demolition grapples. It’s therefore no surprise that the firm is keen to continue growing its presence in Africa.

“South Africa undoubtedly has enormous potential for this type of machinery,” says Rubio, adding that her team is now working to establish a footprint in markets such as Nigeria and Egypt, where the company has had no presence previously.

As a relative newcomer to Africa’s construction sector, Turkey-based Galen is best known for the manufacture of bucket attachments. Orkun Batuhan Yildiz, the company’s Sales and Marketing Manager, appears buoyed by his team’s early performance on the continent so far.

“Galen has begun to gain popularity in countries such as Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria,” he explains. “Generally, companies that want to obtain high-quality attachments at affordable prices – such as mining operators – prefer our products. We made our first export to the region earlier this year.”

Italy-headquartered MB Crusher, meanwhile, which has been manufacturing crusher buckets and equipment accessories for more than two decades, is active across a broad range of markets. The family-owned business boasts seven international subsidiaries, logistics centres across multiple continents, and a comprehensive network of authorised dealers to deliver service support around the world.

“Since the very beginning, MB Crusher has been providing solutions for construction and mining sites all over Africa,” a spokesperson from the manufacturer’s Press Department explains. “We like to calculate turnover differently – not only in terms of money. We measure turnover in terms of how quickly we conduct our operations, how fast we can deliver to our clients, and how rapidly we can get them to work and earning money. The yield of those who are creating new infrastructure in developing areas, those who are rebuilding after natural disasters, those who are pushing harder to recycle more and more – this is what enables us to thrive and marks us out as a successful and growing business.”

Covid-19 severely hampered the activities of attachment manufacturers operating in African markets, and the supply chain issues that continue to plague the continent’s post-pandemic recovery certainly haven’t helped matters. Even so, most within the industry understand that the region holds immense potential for companies that can weather the current storm.

“Since the beginning of the pandemic, it has not been the best time for sales in this area,” says TABE Hammers’ Rubio.

“Maritime transport has been a major problem, but this is something that is improving, and we have a good feeling about the coming months.

“We live in uncertain times but the African continent has many possibilities,” she continues. “We have witnessed an increase in demand for our attachments during recent months, and we foresee a positive second half to the year. We are sure that good times are coming.”

Of course, when it comes to equipment attachments, versatility is the name of the game. After all, these products enable operators and fleet managers to turn almost any machine into a Swiss Army knife.

“Our units can be attached to all kinds of heavy equipment,” MB Crusher explains. “This means crushing operations can be carried out directly at the construction site, helping contractors to become independent from third-party suppliers and thus avoid delays and inflated costs beyond their control. MB Crusher products provide on-site independence. Users can perform crushing and screening operations in the remotest parts of Africa without having to undertake expensive and time-consuming transportation activities. This enhances both consistency and efficiency.”

Yildiz says Galen is witnessing increased demand from mining, construction and infrastructure operations in Africa. “Our heavy-duty rock buckets and shovel buckets are popular among mining companies, whereas our shaft screener buckets and trapezoidal buckets are ideal for infrastructure projects,” he explains. “We are seeing requirements for vehicle armouring from the defence industry, and the forestry sector is also placing orders for log debarkers, woodchippers and grapples.

So, which are the most popular equipment attachments in African markets. Naturally, the answer depends on the country and applications in question, but TABE Hammers’ Rubio tells Plant & Equipment that certain accessories are in perennial demand across the continent.

“In general, the greatest demand we see in Africa is for heavy breakers, the vast majority of which are compatible with machines weighing at least 30 tonnes,” she explains. “Our most common models in Africa are the MT 20, MT 30 and MT 40. In addition, the MT 80 is an extra-large model specifically designed for the heaviest excavators operating in African markets – 60 to 100 tonnes. We also offer solutions for a range of other jobs through attachments such as crusher buckets, screeners, pulverisers, grapples, pedestal boom systems and

“Heavy-duty buckets, loader grapples and ground-engaging tools such as teeth adapters are Galen’s most popular attachments across African markets at present,” he adds.

MB Crusher notes that it’s difficult to identify which of its products are most sought-after with any degree of accuracy, due to the need to find the most appropriate solution based on their clients’ existing equipment. “We have attachments suitable for any carrier. It’s virtually impossible to pinpoint the most wanted products because we supply attachments in line with the types of equipment already present in our customers’ fleets, matching them with units that are best equipped to simplify the jobs ahead.

“Popularity is, however, increasing across the board as MB Crusher units satisfy a very important need for company owners: to avoid downtime. Every time a machine is not

working, either because it’s in need of maintenance or repairs or due to a lack of materials, the company is losing money. Our attachments are designed to help avoid these situations. Our models feature centralised greasing points to facilitate on-site maintenance, they are sturdily built to ensure performance in every working condition, and they offer a wide range of applications.”

With levels of demand for equipment attachments picking up across Africa, it’s no wonder that manufacturers appear optimistic about their short-term prospects. But do they expect this situation to continue during the longer term, and how do they intend to capitalise on this trend over the coming months and years?

“In October, TABE Hammers will exhibit at bauma 2022 in Munich,” says Rubio. “We plan to introduce an update to our iconic MT 375 model, which is compatible with five- to eight-tonne backhoe loaders and therefore common across all markets. The purpose of this update is to increase the power of the hammer while reducing consumption, thus achieving a more efficient product. We encourage all Plant & Equipment readers to come to our stand and see our hammers in situ.”

For Yildiz and his colleagues at Galen, it’s going to be a matter of catering to increased demand in a measured manner. “This year has been very busy for us,” he says. “We think that our share in the African market will continue to increase rapidly, especially from 2023 onwards. Our only wish is to grow slowly and in a controlled manner because we are committed to establishing long-term relationships with customers across African markets.”

The coal-to-liquids plant, which will operate under a public-private partnership model, will produce 12,000 barrels of diesel and gasoline a day, with a planned lifespan of 30 years. Chinese miner Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt is set to invest $300m at the recently purchased Arcadia hard-rock lithium mine in Zimbabwe. The Arcadia lithium project located near Harare, Zimbabwe, is one of the world’s biggest hard rock lithium resources. This investment will be used to develop the mine and build a processing plant at the project. The processing plant will be equipped to treat nearly 4.5 million tonnes (Mt) of ore. It will have a 400,000tpa production capacity of lithium concentrate. GEORGIA PORTS AUTHORITY ORDERS A FLEET OF 22 KONECRANES CONTAINER CRANES The Port of Savannah has the single largest and fastestgrowing container terminal in the USA. It is run by the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) and its operations are being expanded, with investments in new container handling capacity. Projects now underway will add 1.7 million TEUs of annual capacity in a few months.

The Port of Savannah, owned and operated by the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) in the USA, has ordered 7 Ship-toShore (STS) cranes and 15 Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes from Konecranes. The order is Konecranes’ second largest order ever and it was booked in Q1 2022. The RTG cranes will be delivered by August 2023, and the STS cranes will be delivered by mid-2025.

The 15 Konecranes RTGs on order are supplied with cable reel systems for electric operation. They are high-performance, 16-wheel RTGs with a stacking height of 1-over-6. They will be equipped with Konecranes’ Active Load Control system, which prevents container sway. Furthermore, they will have Konecranes’ TRUCONNECT remote monitoring system. When the new RTGs are in service, the GPA will operate a fleet of 225 Konecranes RTGs. This order is part of Ecolifting, Konecranes’ continuous work to decrease the carbon footprints of our customers. DHL AND VOLVO TRUCKS KICK-OFF NEW ZERO EMISSION COOPERATION Volvo Trucks and Deutsche Post DHL Group have signed a cooperation agreement to accelerate the shift to zero exhaust emission vehicles. DHL intends to intensify its transition to heavy electric trucks by deploying a total of 44 new electric Volvo trucks on routes in Europe.

After a shutdown period of more than two years, iron ore extraction started again in 2021 in the Donimalai iron mines in the Indian state of Karnataka in the south of the country.

Now, its fleet has grown by a reliable pair: two Liebherr R 9200 face shovel excavators for mining applications. The R 9200 comes with a 12.5m³ bucket in standard configuration, the class-leading bucket capacity in the 200t class. Both machines received 9m³ extra heavy-duty design buckets for the highly demanding application of the Donimalai site.

ACQUISITION

EPIROC TO ACQUIRE JTMEC

The intended order includes 40 electric trucks of the model Volvo FE and Volvo FL, to be used for package deliveries in urban transports. Electric trucks for longer routes are also part of the scope and DHL has decided to begin using Volvo trucks for regional hauling, starting with four Volvo FM Electric trucks in the UK. The first trucks have been ordered already, six by DHL Parcel UK and two by DHL Freight. This will result in annually savings of nearly 600 tons of CO2 and nearly 225,000 liters of diesel fuel for Deutsche Post DHL Group.

An important factor in DHL’s decision to ramp up the transition to zero emission vehicles is due to the positive experience it has with using an electric Volvo truck in London since November 2020 – making last mile deliveries into the West End shopping district. The vehicle was the very first fully electric commercial heavy truck used for urban logistics in the UK. Volvo Trucks is leading the market for heavy all-electric trucks in Europe, with a market share of 42% in 2021.

Already in 2019, Volvo Trucks started serial production of electric trucks, as one of the very first truck brands in the world to do so. The company has delivered electric trucks to a wide range of customers in Europe, North America and Australia..

SANDVIK TO SUPPLY UNDERGROUND BEV FLEET TO HINDUSTAN ZINC The equipment to be delivered includes a LH518B loader and three TH550B trucks as well as a DD422iE drill rig with Sandvik’s unique and patented “charge-while-drilling” technology. Sandvik will also provide batteries, charging systems and a full-range on-site battery and equipment service team. Sandvik and Hindustan Zinc have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for supply of a battery-electric underground equipment fleet to be used at Sindesar Khurd Mine to help it achieve its carbon neutrality ambitions. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the first quarter 2023 and it will be the first underground BEV fleet deployed in India.

The TH550B truck and LH518B loader are based on the Artisan technology, which Sandvik acquired in 2019, and enriched with the latest Sandvik mining technology, contributing to overall productivity improvements of up to 20%. HCE SEIZES TOP-RANKING SPOT IN MONTHLY EXCAVATOR SALES IN INDIA Hyundai Construction Equipment (HCE) announced that it seized the top-ranking spot in monthly sales of excavators for the first time in 14 years, following its market entry into India in 2008.

In April this year, HCE sold 382 excavators, comprising a 19 percent market share in India, outcompeting the main Japanese competitor (17.3%). ultiple factors have systematically led to a bump in online auctions for the heavy equipment industry globally. Beginning with the pandemic, the wheels turned, and we witnessed - restrictions on direct contact meaning lives and businesses moved online, that followed widespread, temporary shutdowns of original equipment manufacturers’ operations in order to keep employees safe; and simultaneously global supply chains became slower. All of these meant that whatever equipment was available in good condition was available on reputed global online auction sites.

Permian International is one of those handful, well-known auctioneers. And strike the iron while it was hot, they did.

In 2014, the founding partners of Permian International Auctions - Steve Taylor and Eric Dyess had been in the oilfield auction business for more than two decades. And they were good at their job as with their expertise they managed to sell 90 percent of the oilfield equipment brought to any auction during that time. Between 2014 and 2017, a series of mergers and buyouts opened new doors for Taylor and Dyess allowing them to continue their extensive careers in the oilfield auction and equipment marketing business but this time under their own leadership and with a new name, Permian International Auctions.

Permian International Auctions hosted its first sale in October 2018. A total of 1,079 lots of oilfield and construction equipment were sold bringing over $8 million in gross auction proceeds. This auction took place in Rock Spring, Wyoming, with over 600 bidders from 41 US States, and 11 countries worldwide thanks to internet bidding and marketing platforms such as PlantAndEquipment.com.

Inventory management With the large amount of equipment on sale at any given auction, Permian International Auctions doesn’t spend money on physically moving the heavy oilfield equipment, cranes, and other heavy construction machinery. “Given the nature of the equipment we sell, it is neither practical nor cost effective for us or for our sellers to move it to our facility,” says Dyess.

“When you visit our website or look at one of our auctions’ catalogs you will notice that the equipment is located over several yards. We have found that it is much easier to move it with a camera via a digital image to our auction room than for us or our sellers to incur the expense of trucking it to our yard,” adds Taylor. “Take, for example, items like complete drilling rigs - it just doesn’t make sense for the seller to move that when we can market it to the world and sell it at auction and then let the new owner handle the moving and trucking.

Ninety-nine percent of the equipment we sell is entrusted to us by various consignors,” continues Taylor.

As the company has grown, so has its need to update cataloging and inventory management processes. “We have been working closely over the last year and a half with Innova Technologies to customize and develop a better and less paper intense system for managing our inventory while also streamlining our processes of getting equipment uploaded to our website and listed for auction, which in turn allows us to do a better job of marketing our inventory,” says Dyess.

The sales process From a seller’s perspective the process is straightforward.

Permian International Auctions offer a ‘turnkey’ service from start to finish. Once the seller speaks with one of Permian International Auctions’ account managers and agrees to an auction date, a team member or a full team (depending on the need to start inventorying and cataloging equipment) is sent to the seller, so that Permian International Auctions can start working on a marketing campaign.

“We offer services that include cataloging and taking photos, taking videos of running equipment, light mechanical work, paint, other details and yard setup,” says Taylor. Once the auction is over, Permian International Auctions provides the seller with reports of what items were brought to the sale and what was sold. “We handle the collection process and will finish the payout to our consignors within 30 days of the auction. In most cases we pay within 15 days,” adds Dyess.

The buying processes From a buyer’s perspective, the process is just as easy. Buyers can choose to attend the auction in person or register to bid online through Permian International Auctions’ website, www.permianint.com. Here they can also view the online catalog along with pictures and videos of the upcoming auction items.

“We encourage our buyers to inspect the equipment prior to the auction since it is being sold on a ‘As is, where is’ basis,”

says Dyess. Once declared the winning bidder, the buyer will receive an invoice either in person or by email.

Acceptable forms of payment include cheque, wire transfer or for smaller purchase amounts credit cards. Once Permian International Auctions receives the payment, the new owner is free to plan for pick-up. “We do not get involved in the trucking or shipping process beyond offering local recommendations. We are experts in the auction business, not trucking,” adds Taylor.

TLC Having said that, Permian International Auctions offers a level of personal care and attention to customers that other auction companies do not provide. Auction companies usually are concerned about volumes and not the customer and their needs. “This business is about relationships,” says Dyess. “Steve takes much pride in promoting the fact that we take care of our customers from the ‘cradle to the grave’,” continues Dyess with a smile. In addition to this customer philosophy, Permian International Auctions wants to strive to stay in front of the changing dynamics facing the auction industry by seeking out new technologies and methods to stay relevant and keep their customers’ equipment in front of the world audience.

Supply chain woes With the tightening supply chain, the company has seen an increase across the board in overall bids in the oilfield equipment sector. The lack of new equipment and the scarcity of parts, along with oil prices at US$100/barrel, has driven supply chain costs up by 30-40 percent from where the market was just two years ago.

“For us, we never really experienced a downturn in business during the pandemic. If anything, we saw an increase in online bidders in some cases three times higher as compared to what we had previously seen. The pandemic helped to facilitate the transition to online bidding for a lot of buyers who would not have considered it prior. It has changed the auction industry,” adds Dyess.

Since the time they set up the company, primarily selling oilfield equipment, both Dyess and Taylor feel the most in demand equipment is anything that is late model, low hours, and field ready. “Many oilfield service companies resorted to cannibalizing their fleets and equipment to save money and keep operating. Now that there is an increase in oilfield activity and supply chain issues, everyone is looking for field ready equipment,” continues Taylor.

Services. Range Valuation Service is the premier appraisal and valuation firm within the oil and gas industry as well as heavy equipment and machinery industries. “Our alliance with Range gives us access to their services and expertise which reciprocates into them having access to our marketing and liquidation expertise for their clients,” says Dyess.

Online auctions as well as live/simulcast auctions have not only changed the way used equipment sales businesses operate, but it continues to change the entire auctioneering industry. Buyers are becoming more tech savvy and are preferring to bid online over in person live auctions. The company sees 70-80 percent of bidders being online bidders.

This is another reason for Permian International Auctions to work with Innova Technologies to design a unique platform for them that will allow them to compete and outperform their competition, while establishing a dominant presence on the global stage.

“We are fortunate in how successful Permian has been in four short years,” says Taylor. Short term goals for Permian are to expand their presence state side in the USA by increasing their salesforce and setting up people on the ground. Their long-term goals are the same but given that the industry is migrating to more online, sales expansion for them may mean fewer permanent physical locations and a broadening sales force in the USA and abroad.

Looking ahead, Taylor and Dyess see the auction industry continuing to migrate to more online and simulcast auctions.

Permian International Auctions have already reached the point where their online attendance exceeds their onsite attendance.

This is an advantage because in this way, the company is able to reach markets that previously they were not able to attract. However, this scenario also brings with it its own set of challenges. Fewer buyers will travel to inspect the equipment prior to auction which means Permian International needs to be more creative and thorough during their recorded inspections and descriptions when cataloging.

If the statistics are anything to go by, Permian International is doing everything right. Their last auction saw the company make total sales of $5,780,192 of which online sales were $3,553,936. The total number of bidders were 1,123 of which 113 were from outside the USA and total catalog views were 54,596. And the only way is up from here..

TADANO’S TM-ZX1200 TRUCK LOADER CRANES ADD RANGE The HRS and HS lines feature AML with Safety Eyes for a higher level of vision and control for the operator. The HRS specification adds a color LCD radio controller that displays the lifted load, which allows changing of the operation position even when visibility would otherwise be poor in the conventional operation position.

The new Tadano TM-ZX1200 series offers three truck loader crane lines for the international market: HRS, HS, and MH. All three achieve a maximum outrigger width of 5.5m, larger than the 3.9m of conventional 8t capacity cargo cranes and 5.2m of the 10t class. The maximum crane capacity is 22tm, largest in its class. ‫مصر‬ ‫املشروع‪ :‬مشروع دوز بالساحل الشمالي‬ ‫القيمة‪ 426،000،000 :‬دوالر أمريكي‬ ‫العميل‪ :‬شركة اكام الراجحي للتطوير العقاري‬ ‫املوقع اإللكتروني‪www.akamalrajhi.com :‬‬ ‫أطلقت الشركة السعودية المصرية المشتركة اكام الراجحي للتطوير مشروع دوز‬ ‫على الساحل الشمالي باستثمار حوالي ‪ 8‬مليارات جنيه مصري (‪ 426‬مليون‬ ‫دوالر)‪ .‬المشروع الذي تبلغ مساحته ‪ 125‬فدان والذي سوف يتم االنتهاء منه‬ ‫على أربع مراحل يشمل الشاليهات والفيالت المستقلة والتوين هاوس والوحدات‬ ‫المخدومة‪.‬‬ ‫سوف يبدأ البناء في نوفمبر ‪ 2022‬وينتهي في غضون أربع سنوات‪ .‬شركة‬ ‫كيه آند دي ديزاينز ومقرها القاهرة وشركة إس بي آركتيكت في الواليات‬ ‫المتحدة هم المستشارون الرئيسيون للمشروع‪ .‬اكام الراجحي للتطوير هو‬ ‫مشروع مشترك بين شركة اكام للتطوير العقاري المصرية ومجموعة الراجحي‬ ‫السعودية‪.‬‬

‫زيمبابوي‬ ‫املشروع‪ :‬مصنع أركاديا لتعدين ومعالجة الليثيوم‬ ‫القيمة‪ 300،000،000 :‬دوالر أمريكي‬ ‫العميل‪ :‬هوايو كوبالت‬ ‫املوقع اإللكتروني‪www.en.huayou.com :‬‬ ‫من المقرر أن تستثمر شركة التعدين الصينية زيجيانغ هوايو كوبالت (هوايو)‬ ‫مؤخر في‬ ‫ًا‬ ‫أيضا ‪ 300‬مليون دوالر في منجم أركاديا لليثيوم والذي تم شراؤه‬ ‫ً‬ ‫زيمبابوي‪ .‬يعد مشروع ليثيوم أركاديا الواقع بالقرب من هراري في زيمبابوي أحد‬ ‫أكبر مصادر الليثيوم الصلبة في العالم‪ .‬سوف يتم استخدام هذا االستثمار‬ ‫لتطوير المنجم وبناء مصنع معالجة في المشروع‪ .‬كما سوف يتم تجهيز مصنع‬ ‫المعالجة لمعالجة ما يقرب من ‪ 4.5‬مليون طن (طن متري) من الخام‪ .‬وستبلغ‬ ‫طاقتها اإلنتاجية ‪ 400.000‬طن في العام من مركزات الليثيوم‪ .‬تخطط الشركة‬ ‫الصينية لتسليم الدفعة األولى من سبودومين وبيتاليت المعادن الحاملة لليثيوم‬ ‫من مشروع أركاديا في عام ‪.2023‬‬

‫املشروع‪ :‬مجمع نوبو باملنطقة الشرقية‬ ‫القيمة‪ 63،500،000 :‬دوالر أمريكي‬ ‫العميل‪ :‬شركة رمال الخبر العقارية‬ ‫أعلن صندوق التنمية السياحية في المملكة العربية السعودية عن توقيع اتفاقية‬ ‫تمويل مع شركة رمال الخبر العقارية المملوكة من قبل شركة ريتال للتطوير‬ ‫العمراني وشركة األصايل العربية لتطوير أول مجمع نوبو في المنطقة الشرقية‪.‬‬ ‫سوف يضم المشروع الذي تبلغ تكلفته ‪ 63.5‬مليون دوالر (‪ 238‬مليون لاير‬ ‫سعودي) فندق ‪ 5‬نجوم يضم أكثر من ‪ 100‬غرفة وجناح و‪ 62‬وحدة سكنية‬ ‫ومطعم نوبو فاخر وحمامات سباحة ومركز صحي وصالة رياضية وأماكن‬ ‫لالجتماعات والمناسبات‪ .‬مع موقع متميز على الواجهة البحرية‪ ،‬سوف يساهم‬ ‫المشروع في التطوير المستمر لقطاع السياحة في المملكة‪ .‬يقدم المشروع‬ ‫فرصة مهمة سوف تجذب المزيد من المستثمرين إلى قطاع السياحة في‬ ‫المملكة مما يؤدي إلى خلق فرص عمل وتحسين نوعية الحياة بشكل عام‬ ‫وتحفيز المزيد من تطوير الوجهات السياحية‪.‬‬

‫تنزانيا‬ ‫املشروع‪ :‬مصنع أسمنت‬ ‫القيمة‪ 250،000،000 :‬دوالر أمريكي‬ ‫العميل‪ :‬شركة انتراكوم‬ ‫تخطط انتراكوم ومقرها بوروندي لبناء مصنع أسمنت متكامل بقيمة ‪250‬‬ ‫مليون دوالر في منطقة كيغوما‪ .‬يهدف المشروع إلى توريد األسمنت لمنطقة‬ ‫بحيرة تنجانيقا بما في ذلك بوروندي ورواندا وجمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية‪.‬‬ ‫حصلت شركة انتراكوم على أرض في المنطقة ومن المقرر أن يبدأ البناء‬ ‫قر ًيبا‪ .‬تبلغ الطاقة اإلنتاجية للمصنع من األسمنت ‪ 0.6‬مليون طن في السنة‬ ‫و‪ 1‬مليون طن من الكلنكر في السنة‪ .‬من المقرر بدء التشغيل في منتصف‬ ‫عام ‪.2024‬‬

‫اململكة العربية السعودية ‪ /‬مصر‬ ‫املشروع‪ :‬مشروع الربط الكهربائي‬ ‫القيمة‪ 1،800،000،000 :‬دوالر أمريكي‬ ‫العميل‪ :‬شركة الكهرباء السعودية (‪)SEC‬‬ ‫تضمنت العقود التي تم توقيعها في آن واحد بين الرياض والقاهرة عقوداً مع‬ ‫ثالث تحالفات من الشركات العالمية والمحلية لتنفيذ مشروع الربط الذي تبلغ‬ ‫طاقته ‪ 3‬آالف ميجاوات بجهد ‪ 500‬ك‪.‬ف‪.‬‬

‫مصر‬ ‫املشروع‪ :‬محطة برية لتوليد طاقة الرياح‬ ‫القيمة‪ 1،500،000،000 :‬دوالر أمريكي‬ ‫العميل‪ :‬أكوا باور‬ ‫املوقع اإللكتروني‪www.acwapower.com :‬‬ ‫سوف يقوم كونسورتيوم بقيادة أكوا باور السعودية بتطوير مشروع محطة رياح‬ ‫برية بقوة ‪ 1.1‬جيجاوات في خليج السويس في مصر ومنطقة جبل الزيت‪.‬‬ ‫سوف تشترك أكوا باور مع شركة حسن عالم القابضة للهندسة والبناء ومقرها‬ ‫مصر إلجراء دراسات للموقع وتأمين التمويل‪.‬‬

‫يتكون المشروع من إنشاء ثالث محطات فرعية عالية الجهد وهي محطة‬ ‫شرق المدينة المنورة ومحطة تبوك بالمملكة ومحطة بدر بشرق القاهرة وربطها‬ ‫كيلومتر وكابالت بحرية في‬ ‫ًا‬ ‫بخطوط نقل كهربي علوية بطول حوالي ‪1350‬‬ ‫خليج العقبة بطول ‪ 22‬كم‪.‬‬

‫بمجرد تشغيلها بالكامل بحلول نهاية عام ‪ ،2026‬سوف تعوض حديقة الرياح‬ ‫سنويا وتزود ‪ 1.08‬مليون أسرة بالطاقة‬ ‫‪ 2.4‬مليون طن من انبعاثات الكربون ً‬ ‫النظيفة‪.‬‬

‫حصلت شركة ‪ SNC Lavalin‬على عقد خدمات مراجعة التصميم الهندسي‬ ‫إوادارة المشروع لمدة أربع سنوات لمشروع الربط الكهربي بقدرة ‪ 3000‬ميجاوات‬ ‫بين مصر والمملكة العربية السعودية‪.‬‬

‫سوف تدعم مزرعة الرياح واسعة النطاق استراتيجية الحكومة المصرية لتنويع‬ ‫مصادر الطاقة واالستفادة من موارد الطاقة المتجددة في البالد في محاولة‬ ‫لزيادة حصة مصادر الطاقة المتجددة إلى ‪ ٪42‬بحلول عام ‪.2035‬‬

‫تخطط بوتسوانا لبناء مصنع بقيمة ‪ 2.5‬مليار دوالر لتحويل الفحم إلى وقود‬ ‫سائل حيث تتطلع الدولة الواقعة في الجنوب األفريقي الغنية بالماس إلى تقليل‬ ‫االعتماد على الوقود المستورد‪.‬‬ ‫حاليا جميع أنواع الوقود السائل ‪-‬ما يقرب من‬ ‫تستورد الدولة غير الساحلية ً‬ ‫غالبا إلى حدوث نقص‬ ‫يؤدي‬ ‫مما‬ ‫يقيا‬ ‫ر‬ ‫إف‬ ‫جنوب‬ ‫يوميا‪ -‬عبر‬ ‫ً‬ ‫‪ 21000‬برميل ً‬ ‫عندما تواجه جارتها الجنوبية تحديات لوجستية‪ .‬سوف ينتج مصنع تحويل‬ ‫الفحم إلى سوائل والذي سيعمل بموجب نموذج شراكة بين القطاعين العام‬ ‫يوميا مع عمر مخطط له يبلغ‬ ‫والخاص ‪ 12000‬برميل من الديزل والبنزين ً‬ ‫عاما‪ .‬تمت الموافقة على عملية توريد المشروع وسوف يتم توجيه اإلنتاج‬ ‫‪ً 30‬‬ ‫في المقام األول للسوق المحلي‪.‬‬

‫املشروع‪ :‬مشروع ناقل املياه الوطني‬ ‫القيمة‪ 1،000،000،00 :‬دوالر أمريكي‬ ‫العميل‪ :‬وزارة املياه والري‬ ‫املوقع اإللكتروني‪www.mwi.gov.jo :‬‬ ‫يعتبر مشروع العقبة ‪ -‬عمان لتحلية ونقل المياه مشروع استراتيجي وأولوية‬ ‫قصوى لتزويد سكان المملكة البالغ عددهم ‪ 11‬مليون نسمة بمياه الشرب‪ ،‬سوف‬ ‫سنويا‪ .‬يسمح‬ ‫يوفر المشروع حوالي ‪ 300‬مليون متر مكعب من المياه المحالة ً‬ ‫المشروع للو ازرة بتنفيذ خططها اإلستراتيجية لتحسين واقع المياه الجوفية بما في‬ ‫ذلك معالجة مشاكل الضخ المفرط من اآلبار الجوفية وسعتها التخزينية وتقليل‬ ‫الفاقد من المياه عن طريق رفع كفاءة الشبكات وتحسين إمدادات المياه‪.‬‬ ‫يشتمل مشروع الناقل الوطني على محطة سحب ستقام على الشاطئ الجنوبي‬ ‫كيلومترا‪.‬‬ ‫للعقبة ومحطة لتحلية المياه والضخ في العقبة وخط أنابيب بطول ‪450‬‬ ‫ً‬
