The area, whose primary current use is to receive cruise liners, will be redeveloped to include a major new mall, hotels, a floating yacht club, a private beach resort, and a beach area of 12,600 square metres. DP World is providing land for the project, which will be developed by Emaar Properties. The development will contain promenades, a piazza with retail and F&B units as well as hotels, parks, a 500m-long canal, art galleries, a theatre and a museum. Saudi Entertainment Ventures (Seven), a unit of the kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund PIF, is set to build a new amusement park on a 100-hectare site in Al Aziziyah area of the Eastern Province along with six cinemas and three new entertainment destinations. These new entertainment hubs will be in Dammam, Al Khobar and Al Ahsa area of the kingdom, and will feature sports areas, movie theatres, green spaces and water sports facilities similar to the projects now under way in Riyadh. The company is focusing on developing recreational and entertainment facilities in the Eastern Province, which has a growing population of about 4.9 million. Seven intends to convert the Eastern Province into an excellent entertainment destination in the Gulf based on its strategic geographic location and touristic significance within the kingdom. The Eastern Province’s stunning coasts, green oases and vast deserts make it an attractive area for investment and development. The entertainment destination in Dammam will cover an area of 330,000 sq m, while nearby Al Khobar’s facility will be built on a 360,000-sq-m site.

Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a contract for the construction of Al Khawaneej Corridor and Mushrif Park Improvement Project. The project, which will cost about $136 million, encompasses the construction of three main junctions at Al Khawaneej and Al Amardi Streets. The project aims to accommodate the current and projected growth in the traffic volumes over the next years. It provides a direct link between Al Awir and Al Khawaneej to ease the movement of local residents in both directions. It will enhance the link between Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan and Emirates Roads, and cut the delay to just 45 seconds in this sector. It will also improve the traffic flow on Al Khawaneej and Al Amardi Roads, and reduce the time in the area from 120 to 60 seconds. The new project coincides with the concluding stages of Tripoli Street Improvement Project over a 12-km stretch linking the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road. The project will alleviate tailbacks, improve access to Al Warqaa and Mirdif via Tripoli Street, and enhance the safety level of the entire corridor.

The UAE’s National Corporation for Tourism and Hotels (NCTH) has approved the construction of a residential and leisure project each in Abu Dhabi under budgeted investment. NCTH informed that the project, Capital Views, will be a modern, urban, and mixed-use development in the business and exhibition area of Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, and will feature 319 residential and 323 serviced apartments. The project is a joint venture between NCTH and Sino Gulf andm expected to be completed in the last quarter of 2021. Work on project began following the signed approval of HE Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, chairman of NCTH.

A British-based firm plans to develop one of the worlds largest algae farms in the Sharqiyah Governorate of the Sultanate, an initiative that will enable Omans entry into the booming multibillion dollar global algae farming industry. London-headquartered Feed Algae aims to invest RO 167.5 million ($440m approximately) in the establishment of a mega algae cultivation project capable of producing a world-scale 100,000 tonnes of algae per annum. Omans authorities, led by the Implementation Support & Follow-up Unit (ISFU) a task force operating under the auspices of the Diwan of Royal Court, have been assisting the investor in securing suitable land and other approvals for the landmark project. When fully rolled out, the Al Sharqiyah Algae Farm will rank among the largest in the world. The first harvest of algae is slated during 2022. During the course of this year, a consultant will be appointed to conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) while the investor finalises a feasibility study on the venture. A consortium led by Saudi-based Acwa Power has secured a major contract from the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) for the development of the largest utility scale solar PV independent power project in the sultanate. The list of pre-qualified companies is seen to be ready in the first quarter of 2018. The stateowned utility would then proceed with the tender for the solar independent power project (IPP), the investment in which is estimated at USD 500 million (EUR 421m).

Middle East and African automotive aftermarket valued at US$61 billion in 2018, with more growth anticipated – industry report Whitepaper ahead of Automechanika Dubai 2019 exhibition points to upward trend in emerging markets The Middle East and Africa’s auto aftermarket was worth a combined US$61 billion in 2018, while a projected rise in car sales, and more manufacturing bases will steer the wider region toward six percent annual growth over the next six years, a newly published report said. Saudi’s decision to allow women to drive in 2018 and increasing online spare parts sales coupled with growing demand for vehicle modifications are other factors that will accelerate growth in the Middle East’s aftermarket, which was valued at US$28.14 billion in 2018, according to a May 2019 whitepaper by global analysts TechSci Research. This is estimated to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 5.8 percent over the next six years, valuing US$39.6 billion in 2024, while in Africa, demand for aftermarket spare parts and services, valued at US$33.17 billion in 2018, is tipped to increase at a CAGR of 6.25 percent over the same period, valuing US$47.73 billion. TechSci’s Middle East and Africa Automotive Aftermarket report was prepared exclusively ahead of Automechanika Dubai 2019, the wider region’s largest international trade fair for the auto services industry, which takes 14 PlantAndEquipment.com | June 2019

The report details engine parts such as electric components, radiators, and exhausts comprising a 51 percent share of the Middle East’s aftermarket in 2018, followed by tyres (26 percent) and lubricants (11 percent). Axles and transmission components comprise four percent of the market, while air and oil filters, suspension systems, batteries, and brakes each make up two percent of the market. Those shares will remain much the same by 2024, though at a far higher value, fuelled by in new vehicle sales across the region. According to TechSci, 2.3 million Passenger Vehicles (PVs), and 430,000 Commercial Vehicles (CVs) were sold in the Middle East in 2018, with this figure estimated to reach 3.68 million (3.07 million PCs, 610,000 CVs) in 2024. Total vehicle parc (CVs and PVs on the roads) in the Middle East currently stands at 41.6 million, already presenting huge demand for aftermarket spare parts and services, all of which will be on show by more than 1,800 exhibitors from 60-plus countries at the 17th edition of Automechanika Dubai next month. “In the coming years, demand for both

With the biggest names in the business present this year, the exhibition is a great place for buyers, industry professionals, distributors and government representatives to get a feel of market trends, developments and the way ahead.” Country-wide, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are among the biggest Middle East markets for vehicle parc according to Techsci’s report, with Saudi contributing 7.49 million (5.11 million PVs, and 2.38 million CVs) to the region’s fleet, and the UAE 2.57 million (1.96 million PVs, 610,000 CVs). Meanwhile in Africa, vehicle parc currently stands at 43 million, including 32.7 million PVs and 10.3 million CVs. With more assembly plants, government initiatives to improve domestic manufacturing, and growing construction and infrastructure projects, vehicle sales volume in the world’s second largest continent is projected to reach 1.56 million units by 2024, growing at a CAGR of 4.68 percent during 2018-2024. The make-up of the African auto aftermarket in terms of component shares by value is very similar to the Middle East, however the two regions differ significantly in how passenger vehicles are serviced. TechSci’s report says 58 percent of PV services are carried out at authorised service centres in the Middle East, 36 percent at independent multi-brand service centres, and six percent at gas stations. In Africa, 50 percent of services are carried out in multi-brand centres, followed by authorised service centres (30 percent) and gas stations (20 percent). Car owners in both regions are fairly diligent in ensuring their vehicles are in top shape, with 80 percent of owners in the Middle East and 78 percent in Africa servicing their cars as per the service schedule. However, eight percent of
cars are serviced in African only once they’ve broken down, compared to one percent in the Middle East. Looking forward, key growth factors for the regional auto aftermarket include a growing demand for spare parts for vehicle modifications; increasing investments in new channels of customer engagement such as quick delivery modes and online spare parts sales. The second hand auto spare parts market in the Middle East has also developed into a fullfledged multi-million dollar industry, boasting more than 100 small and medium-sized enterprises spread across the region. The UAE is the major supplier of automotive spare parts within the Gulf region as well as for Iran, the CIS, Indian sub-continent and Africa. Organised by Messe Frankfurt Middle East, Automechanika Dubai covers the six product sections of Parts & Components; Electronics & Systems; Accessories & Customizing; Repair & Maintenance; Car Wash, Care & Reconditioning; and Tyres & Batteries. The 2019 edition will feature four new sub-sections of Agricultural Parts & Equipment; Body & Paint; Motorcycle Parts & Components; and Oils & Lubricants. A key returning highlight is the Innovation Zone, a dedicated area at the centre of the show floor featuring presentations and product showcases that are steering the course for the regional and global automotive aftermarket. Other features include the Truck Competence initiative, where more than 1,000 exhibitors will showcase their products dedicated to the entire value chain in the truck sector, from truck parts and accessories, to workshop equipment, body repairs and care. The Automechanika Academy (AA) also returns, featuring key presentations such as Dubai’s auto parts and accessories trade in 2018 by the Dubai Customs, along with the findings of a survey exploring innovations in the Middle East automotive industry by global research company Explori. Other AA highlights include a series of sessions by AMENA and Tiqani, as well as AfriConnections, which explores rising opportunities in the African aftermarket. Nissan Expands Reach In Saudi Arabia With Manahil International

issan has appointed Manahil International as a new specialized dealer in Saudi Arabia, further expanding its sales network across the Kingdom. Manahil International, a Mohamed Yousuf Naghi & Brothers Group Company, will focus on fleet sales to Government and business enterprises. It will also work closely with independent retailers to improve the service offered to their customers. The move will increase the availability of Nissan cars adding 177 independent retailers across the Kingdom, including in rural areas. Competitive financing, provided by Manhil, will also be available for Nissan customers at independent retailers for the first time. Petromin Nissan, which partnered with the Japanese manufacturer in 2016, will remain Nissan’s authorized dealer for direct retail sales in Saudi Arabia with showrooms in key locations across the country. Versatility Key To Ford’s First Regional Commercial Vehicles Converter Event

ore than 20 different iterations of converted Ford commercial vehicles (CVs) were on show at Dubai Autodrome recently, as Ranger, Transit, and Super Duty showcased the capability and versatility of the brand’s line-up. Featuring various displays from armoured vehicles on the F-Series platform, to modular racking systems, ambulances, and refrigerator vans on a Transit base, the event brought major vehicle modifiers and conversion companies together to display Ford’s commercial vehicle range, and highlight the benefits of adopting Ford CVs as the vehicle of choice. The day also introduced the Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM) programme to all convertors in attendance. Bringing together Middle East distributors and converters in one place on such a unique occasion stands to strengthen the relationship between the two, and to enhance their understanding of one another, particularly in the varied and versatile conversion opportunities that come with Ford commercial vehicles. The system comprises of two cameras directing to the rear of the truck and its images appear on two displays in the cab. The MirrorCam is mounted on the A-pillars and supports the driver with special distance lines for better estimating following traffic and in manoeuvring, cornering or changing lanes, for example. The fuel consumption of the new Actros has been further reduced compared with its predecessor. Essentially contributing to this reduction is the expanded cruise control and transmission control system, Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC). New, among other things, is that PPC can now also be used in intercity service. Fuel economy in the new Actros is also supported by aerodynamic improvements with the MirrorCam and new side deflectors. In addition, some models also include new fuel-saving rear axle ratios.
Sideguard Assist has been available since 2016 and is currently the only system of its kind fully integrated in the vehicle architecture. Sideguard Assist can minimise the probability of dangerous accidents on the co-driver side during cornering or when changing lanes to the right. The warning system has now been further improved: the MirrorCam and Sideguard Assist work hand in hand in the new Actros – all relevant information is consolidated at one place on the MirrorCam displays. Active Brake Assist 5: the new generation of the emergency braking assist system The more sophisticated system can now better react to people, thanks to the combination of radar and camera system. The proven abilities of the predecessor remain: regardless of whether a stationary or preceding vehicle or person is in question – Active Brake Assist 5 supports the driver in case a collision may threaten. If needed, with automatic maximum full-stop braking as well. Important to note: Active Brake Assist 5 is merely a driver assistance system; the driver continues to have full responsibility for driving the vehicle safely. This responsibility also means that the driver must always have full control of the vehicle in traffic, amongst other things.
Connectivity and intuitive operation thanks to the new Multimedia Cockpit The new Multimedia Cockpit provides the driver with completely new control options and improved operating comfort. Apple CarPlay or Android Auto – never a problem. The Multimedia Cockpit has two large displays. The primary display replaces the conventional instrument cluster. Rivian Announces $500 Million Investment From Ford; Partnership To Deliver All-New Ford Battery Electric Vehicle

ivian today announced an equity investment of $500 million from Ford Motor Company. In addition to the investment, the companies have agreed to work together to develop an all-new, next-generation battery electric vehicle for Ford’s growing EV portfolio using Rivian’s skateboard platform. “This strategic partnership marks another key milestone in our drive to accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility,” said RJ Scaringe, Rivian founder and CEO. “Ford has a long-standing commitment to sustainability, with Bill Ford being one of the industry’s earliest advocates, and we are excited to use our technology to get more electric vehicles on the road.” “We are excited to invest in and partner with Rivian,” said Bill Ford, Ford’s executive chairman. “I have gotten to know and respect RJ, and we share a common goal to create a sustainable future for our industry through innovation.” Rivian already has developed two cleansheet vehicles with adventurers at the core of every design and engineering decision. Mercedes-Benz Concept EQV: First
Fully Electric Trip in the Mediterranean City of Barcelona
S
hortly after the world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, the Concept EQV completed its first urban journey. In the port of Barcelona, the concept vehicle showed that the electric future for premium MPVs is just around the corner. At the Geneva Motor Show at the beginning of March, the world’s first fully electric premium MPV was presented to the public: with the Concept EQV, Mercedes-Benz showed what the locally emission-free future can look like in this segment. Now the Concept EQV has completed its first public drive and presented itself in the port of Barcelona in front of a fitting backdrop. The vehicle is aimed equally at families, sports enthusiasts or quality shuttle services. With its progressive exterior, the Concept EQV caused a stir with passers-by in the fashion and design city. In particular, the EQ-typical radiator grille with its continuous LED strip left a lasting impression. It’s Inner Values Are Equally Impressive In addition to its attractive design, the Concept EQV stands in particular for practical, everyday and locally emission-free electromobility. The technical highlights include a range of up to 400 kilometres and an integrated

rapid charging function. This means that sufficient energy for approx. 100 kilometres can be charged in about 15 minutes. What’s more, the vehicle offers the greatest possible level of comfort in its interior and maximum functionality, for example thanks to the diverse range of possible seating configurations. The Concept EQV is driven via the front axle by a compact electric powertrain with an output of 150 kW. And with a top speed of 160 km/h, it ensures superior driving pleasure out of town, too. Energy is supplied by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 100 kWh. This is installed in the underbody of the vehicle, providing the full space in the interior for passengers. Very soon, Mercedes-Benz Vans will be taking the next step: a series model is planned on the basis of the Concept EQV which will be presented to the public at this year’s IAA in Frankfurt am Main.

IVECO partners the FIA European Truck Race Championship 2019 and competes with the “Die Bullen von IVECO” IVECO announced its partnership with the FIA European Truck Racing Championship, which will see it becoming an engaged and active partner within the championship and the recently announced #onetruckfamily campaign, launched by FIA ETRC to address the driver shortage by raising the profile and public perception of this profession. The announcement was made on the eve of the 2019 FIA ETRC season which will kick off with the Petronas Urania Grand Prix Truck event in Misano in Italy on the 25-26 May. IVECO will be taking part again in the FIA European Truck Racing Championship as technical sponsor of the “Die Bullen von IVECO”, the partnership between the Hahn Racing and Schwabentruck Teams. The latter has represented the brand for the past ten years, while Team Hahn – the 2016 champion – will compete on board a Stralis race truck for the third year running. After last year’s first position in the final ETRC 2018 standings, “Die Bullen von IVECO” are ready to repeat their success in the 2019 edition of the championship. The brand is supporting the Team with the Stralis 440 E 56 XP-R 5.3-tonne race truck powered by an IVECO Cursor 13 engine that delivers an impressive 1180 hp. These vehicles

are specifically designed and equipped to reach 160 km/h, the maximum speed allowed by sporting regulations. German driver Steffi Halm will return for a second campaign as team leader of the Schwabentruck team. Team Hahn will be represented by Jochen Hahn, who dominated the 2018 edition behind the wheel of his IVECO Stralis truck with 12 race wins out of 32 races, finishing 121 points ahead of the second-placed driver. IVECO will also be represented by two more teams: Reinert Racing, which secured a second place in the ETRC 2018 standings, and Don’t Touch Racing, which will be taking part in the championship for the second year running. IVECO will take to the track on each of the eight championship circuits, and will be present in the paddocks with vehicle displays, fan shops and hospitality facilities.

FIVE THINGS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT BATTERIES
B
atteries are an important part of modern life and now Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) is starting to use them to power its machines - but how much do you actually know about them? Magnus Larsson, Development Engineer Batteries, Electromobility Systems, presents five facts about the lithium-ion batteries that are being used in construction equipment. 1. THEY LOOK NOTHING LIKE CONVENTIONAL BATTERIES To power something like a wheel loader or an excavator, you need a high level of system voltage and energy, which is more than a single battery cell (chocolate bar size) can provide. So, we generally take multiple cells and connect them together to create a battery pack. Looking at them, they are just big boxes - but there’s a lot going on inside. 2. BATTERIES COME IN ALL SHAPES AND FORMS You can buy a complete battery pack unit from a supplier (as Volvo CE does today), or you can assemble sub-modules and incorporate them into a custom-fit pack unit, or you can build everything in-house from scratch. Battery packs are sized and shaped differently for different machine types. 3. THEY’RE SURPRISINGLY BIG Large vehicles require large battery capacity - there’s no great surprise there. The lithiumion battery packs we use in construction equipment can weigh more than 400kg.

Especially for large machines, there might be a need to install more than one of these battery packs, so the overall battery weight could easily exceed one ton. However, when it comes to lithium-ion batteries, significant progress is being made with respect to energy density. Developers are working on lighter and more volume efficient batteries. This essentially means that we can get more energy for the same volume or get the same energy capacity cheaper. 4. THEY’RE BECOMING CHEAPER At the moment, lithium-ion batteries are still quite expensive, but the price is constantly dropping. If the price continues to decrease at this rate, the cost barriers to electromobility innovation within the construction equipment industry will significantly reduce. This price decrease is a result of two factors: more battery demand globally, and an increase in energy density, as mentioned earlier. 5. WE’RE AT THE TURNING POINT WHERE IT MAKES SENSE TO ELECTRIFY BIG MACHINES With current technology, compact machines - like Volvo CE’s recently announced range of electric compact wheel loaders and excavators - can put in a full day’s work on electric energy from batteries. We’re starting to enter this stage with bigger machines. Although regular recharging is still required, it’s now a matter of when, not if, electric batteries can meet the energy and power requirements of heavy construction machines.

io Tinto recently signed an agreement with Caterpillar to supply and support mining machines, automation and enterprise technology systems for the new Koodaideri iron ore mine in Western Australia. Under the agreement, Rio Tinto and Caterpillar will work together in creating an automated mine operation that makes best use of data analytics and integration to enhance safety, optimize production, boost mining machine utilization and lower costs. Rio Tinto Iron Ore chief executive Chris Salisbury said, “We’re pleased to be partnering with Caterpillar and WesTrac, the regional Cat® dealer, to help make Koodaideri the most technology-enabled and innovative mine in our Pilbara iron ore network. “Technology is rapidly changing our mining operations as we harness innovation to make our operations safer, smarter and more productive. P
art of the road, and in particular a series of tight bends leading to Grand’Rivière, a small, isolated fishing village located at the north of Martinique on the foothills of Mount Pelée, was in urgent need of reinforcement. To respond to the needs of its customer BTP Hydrosee based in Saint Pierre, who was in charge of the project, rental company Loca System recommended an articulating Genie® Z®-80/60 boom lift for the job. Because part of the job involved projecting concrete to strengthen its supporting walls, operators needed a single machine combining long horizontal outreach and below-level capabilities adapted to the site’s abrupt verticals to perform the task. They also required a sufficiently compact machine to enable traffic to circulate while work was in progress. And, uncertain weather conditions added to the challenges of a job scheduled for completion within a two-month timeframe. Skyjack Breaks into North Western China Guelph, Ontario – Linamar Corporation’s (TSX:LNR) Skyjack division made its first delivery into North Western China earlier this month. Shaanxi Shuntong Equipment Rental is one of North Western China’s largest supplier of road machinery and aerial work equipment. Their rental products have worked on high profile projects throughout the region and they are adding Skyjack’s simply reliable machines to their equipment lineup. “Skyjack’s reputation for reliable machines was brought forward to us from some of our partners and we’re excited to place our first order with them,” said Mr. Yang, owner at Shaanxi Shuntong Equipment Rental. “A lot of the projects our customers work on are in tight spaces where having equipment that’s easily maneuverable is critical to completing the job at hand.” The rental company added Skyjack’s SJIII 4632 DC scissor lift, which is driveable at full height and boasts a maximum working height of 38’ (11.58 m), 450 lbs (204 kg) capacity, and lifts and lowers in under 60 seconds. كونتيننتال تو ّقع كراعي اإلطارات الرسمي لبطولة كأس األمم األفريقية توتال 2019في مصر • يمت ّد عقد الرعاية بني ’كونتيننتال‘ و’االتحاد األفريقي لكرة القدم‘ ( )CAFملدة خمس سنوات حتى العام 2023 • تهدف الرعاية إلى تعزيز حضور عالمة ’كونتيننتال‘ في منطقة أفريقيا • تأتي هذه الخطوة من ’كونتيننتال‘ بعد تجربتها السابقة في رعايتها لبطولة كأس آسيا اإلمارات 2019 القاهرة ،مصر – أعلنت ’كونتيننتال‘ ( ،)Continentalالشركة األملانية الرائدة في مجال اإلطارات والتقنيات والصناعات املغذية للسيارات ،اليوم عن توقيعها شراكة استراتيجية مع االتحاد األفريقي لكرة القدم ( )CAFلرعاية بطولة كأس األمم االفريقية توتال 2019التي ستقام في مصر في الفترة من 21يونيو حتى 19يوليو .2019وتمت ّد مدة االتفاقية لفترة خمس سنوات شامل ًة حقوق الرعاية للدورتني التاليتني من البطولة بعد مصر والتي ستقام في الكاميرون وساحل العاج في العامني 2021و2023 على التوالي. وقال جون أندير غارسيا ،املدير اإلقليمي لشركة ’كونتيننتال‘ في أفريقيا والشرق األوسط" :تعتبر أفريقيا من األسوق الناشئة ّ تحتل الرئيسية لعالمة ,كونتيننتال‘ ،وال شك أيض ًا أن كرة القدم شعبي ًة كبيرة في القارة .وتع ّد بطولة كأس األمم اإلفريقية إحدى أكبر وأهم املسابقات الرياضية في القارة األفريقية ،ونهدف من خالل رعايتنا لهذه البطولة إلى تعزيز حضورنا في هذه السوق خالل السنوات القليلة القادمة .نحن فخورون بكوننا جزء من هذا املهرجان الكروي الكبير ،ونتط ّلع هذا العام إلى التواصل مع كافة شرائح املجتمع في مصر من خالل لغة كرة القدم العاملية." . وتشمل حزمة الحقوق أيض ًا الرعاية الحصرية لعالمة ’كونتيننتال‘ لجائزة أفضل حارس مرمى‘ للبطولة .وبطبيعة موقعه خلف الالعبني وكونه يمثّل خط الدفاع األخير للفريق ،فإن دور حارس املرمى في الحفاظ على سالمة املرمى ونظافة شباكه من األهداف يعكس قيم السالمة املهمة لشركة ’كونتيننتال‘. وتتم ّيز عالمة تصنيع اإلطارات األملانية بمساهماتها الكبيرة في عاما ،وينعكس ذلك تعزيز السالمة على الطرق ألكثر من ً 140 من خالل مبادرتها املتع ّلقة بالسالمة والتي تحمل عنوان ’الرؤية صفر‘ ( ،)Vison Zeroحيث تهدف إلى التخ ّلص ك ّلي ًا من مشكلة حوادث الطرق والوصول إلى مستوى صفر وفيات ،صفر إصابات وصفر حوادث على الطرقات. من جهته ،قال السيد أحمد أحمد ،رئيس االتحاد اإلفريقي لكرة القدم" :نحن سعداء بشراكتنا االستراتيجية مع ’كونتيننتال‘ نرحب برعايتهم الجديدة لبطولة كأس األمم اإلفريقية ويشرفنا أن ّ ّ لكرة القدم .تؤ ّكد ُ هذه الشراكة الجديدة مدى أهمية البطولة 61

مشاريع ضخمة قادمة
حصل اتحاد شركات بقيادة شركة أكوا باور السعودية على عقد رئيسي من شركة عمان لشراء الطاقة والمياه ( )OPWPلتطوير أكبر مشروع مستقل لمنشأة طاقة شمسية كهروضوئية في سلطنة عمان. يتوقع أن تكون قائمة الشركات المؤهلة مسبقًا جاهزة في الربع األول من عام ،2018ومن ثم ستواصل المنشأة المملوكة للدولة مناقصة مشروع الطاقة الشمسية المستقلة ( )IPPوالذي يقدر االستثمار فيه بـ 500 مليون دوالر أمريكي ( 421مليون يورو).

وافقت المؤسسة الوطنية للسياحة والفنادق في اإلمارات العربية المتحدة ( )NCTHعلى إنشاء مشروع سكني وترفيهي كالهما في أبوظبي في إطار استثمارات مدرجة في الميزانية. تطور عصرًيا ومتعدد االستخدامات في منطقة ًا أبلغت المؤسسة الوطنية للسياحة والفنادق أن مشروع كابيتال فيوز سيكون األعمال والمعارض في مركز أبوظبي الوطني للمعارض وسيضم 319شقة سكنية و 323شقة مخدومة. المشروع عبارة عن مشروع مشترك بين المؤسسة الوطنية للسياحة والفنادق وشركة سينو جلف ،من المتوقع االنتهاء منه في الربع األخير من عام ،2021بدأ العمل في المشروع بعد موافقة موقعة من سعادة الشيخ حمدان بن مبارك آل نهيان رئيس مجلس إدارة المؤسسة الوطنية للسياحة والفنادق.

تعتزم الشركة التي مقرها بريطانيا تطوير واحدة من أكبر مزارع الطحالب في العالم في محافظة الشرقية بالسلطنة ،وهي مبادرة ستمكن عمان من دخول صناعة الطحالب العالمية المزدهرة والتي تبلغ قيمتها مليارات الدوالرات ،تهدف شركة Feed Algae التي يقع مقرها في لندن إلى استثمار 167.5مليون لاير عماني (حوالي 440مليون دوالر أمريكي) في إنشاء مشروع ضخم سنويا. الستزراع الطحالب قادر على إنتاج 100،000طن من الطحالب ً تقوم السلطات العمانية بقيادة وحدة دعم التنفيذ والمتابعة ( - )ISFUوهي فرقة عمل تعمل تحت رعاية ديوان البالط السلطاني بمساعدة المستثمر في تأمين األراضي المناسبة والموافقات األخرى لهذا المشروع التاريخي ،عند طرحه بالكامل ستحتلمزرعة الطحالب الشرقية مكانة بين أكبر المزارع في العالم ،من المقرر أن يكون الحصاد األول للطحالب خالل عام 2022 وخالل هذا العام سيتم تعيين خبير استشاري إلجراء تقييم األثر البيئي ( )EIAبينما ينهي المستثمر دراسة الجدوى االقتصادية للمشروع ،ومن المقرر أن يتم توقيع عقد االنتفاع مع و ازرة اإلسكان والذي يضمن استئجار األرض للمشروع قبل نهاية هذا العام. 69
