AWARDS 2023

An entire decade has passed since the inaugural Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) Stars of the Future Awards and the ceremony has only gone from strength to strength since then. With over 1,900 members, the CPA supplies around 85% of hired plant to the construction and its allied industries.

Plant Planet is honoured to be attending this year’s awards ceremony. And, in a testament to the ceremony’s popularity, nominations for this year’s instalment almost surpassed 100 - its highest ever. Nominations are made through the employer or training provider of the trainee or apprentice, and a victory brings not only a prize, but invaluable national recognition.

The CPA Stars of the Future Awards aim to put a spotlight on some of the industry’s brightest prospects. Focusing on apprentices and trainees, some of the previous prizes have included high-quality tool kits, iPads, and all-expenses trips to manufacturing plants overseas. To mark this year’s awards, the CPA has announced two new categories - Young Plant Operative of the Year and Apprentice Mentor of the Year.

Plant Planet will also be sponsoring the College of the Year Award. Darren Shelton, Business Manager of Plant Planet, commented on the ceremony, saying: ’’We’re thrilled to take part in this year’s ceremony as well as sponsoring the College of the Year Award. To be a part of the awards is an honour.’’

The mission of the CPA Stars of the Future Awards is to both reward and acknowledge the industry’s hardworking, dedicated apprentices and trainees whose passion, skills, and talents will serve as both the bedrock and the spearhead of the construction industry in the not-too-distant future.

The Young Plant Operative and Apprentice Mentor of the Year Awards will join the long list of honours available at the ceremony. The more established awards include Plant Mechanic of the Year (Level 2), Plant Technician of the Year (Level 3), Plant Operative of the Year, Plant Installer of the Year, Lifting Technician of the Year, Hire Controller of the Year, College of the Year, Best Personal Statement and the Judges’ Special Award.

The eagerly anticipated awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 6th July 2023 at the Heart of England Conference and Events Centre in Fillongley, near Coventry. Excitement for the ceremony is building, and Plant Planet is delighted to be a part of it.
