an introduction.

THE IDEAL INTERN IS COMMITTED, CREATIVE, ORGANIZED, AMBITIOUS, INDEPENDENT, AND ABLE TO CRACK A SMILE.

Hi there. Hi there. Hi there. Hi there. Hi there.

Welcome to PSI’s 2024 Intern Program! We’re so glad you made it here and hope you’re looking forward to this summer as much as we are. Being an intern is no small business and through this Welcome Kit we’ve compiled some helpful (and fun) information on how to be a successful PSI intern. Having all started out as interns ourselves, we know what it’s like to be in your shoes and know how transformative an opportunity this is. Whether this is your first internship or your fifth, we hope you gain valuable experience and make some memories along the way. As always, feel free to reach out if you ever have questions, we’re here to help you! - The Marketing Team

[TUESDAY 4:15 PM] ACUNA, ANDY WE ARE INCREDIBLY EXCITED TO WELCOME SUCH A LARGE AND DIVERSE GROUP TO OUR 2024 SUMMER INTERN PROGRAM! WE HOPE YOU FIND YOURSELF HIGHLY ENGAGED, SUPPORTED, CHALLENGED, AND FULFILLED THROUGHOUT YOUR TIME WITH US. THIS PROGRAM IS AS MUCH ABOUT YOUR GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT AS IT IS ABOUT PSI. GOOD LUCK - WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE THE INCREDIBLE THINGS WE WILL ACHIEVE TOGETHER!

PLANNED SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL (PSI) IS A GOVERNMENT CONTRACTING

COMPANY

What’s that?

SINCE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CAN’T DO EVERYTHING BY ITSELF, IT HIRES OUTSIDE HELP OR “CONTRACTORS” TO AID THEM.

A GOVERNMENT CONTRACTOR IS A COMPANY THAT PRODUCES GOODS AND SERVICES FOR PUBLIC GOVERNMENT AGENCIES. THESE GOODS AND SERVICES CAN RANGE IN SCALE AND COMMITMENT. ANYTHING FROM CUTTING THE GRASS ON AN ARMY BASE TO FINDING BETTER SOLUTIONS FOR VETERAN DATA MANAGEMENT.

PSI IN A NUTSHELL

(and the questions you’re too afraid to ask)

But what do we actually do?

PSI WORKS ACROSS 3 DIFFERENT SECTORS (HEALTH, FEDCIV, & NSS) TO SECURE CONTRACTS FOR A WIDE RANGE OF CAPABILITIES.

OUR AREAS OF WORK INCLUDE:

What makes us different?

AS AN ENTERPRISE WITH MULTIPLE SUBSIDIARIES, PROTÉGÉ COMPANIES, AND JOINT VENTURE PARTNERS, PSI HAS EXPERIENCE IN MANY FIELDS, BUT OUR BIGGES STRENGTH HAS ALWAYS BEEN OUR PEOPLE! (THAT INCLUDES YOU)

THE CONTRACTS WE WIN BECOME OPPORTUNITIES FOR EMPLOYMENT, NEW PARTNERSHIPS, AND, OF COURSE, REVENUE.

PSI HAS 35 YEARS OF SERVICE & EMPLOYS ROUGHLY 1300 ACROSS OUR ENTIRE ENTERPRISE.

1. BE OPEN-MINDED ABOUT THE WORK YOU DO

Although most of the work you’ll be doing has likely been decided already, even the smallest tasks can give you valuable insight into the inner workings of a company. Take time to understand how your work fits into the larger scope of things and focus on giving each assignment your all!

2. RECORD. EVERYTHING.

From the meetings you have to the assignments you turn in, make sure to keep track of everything you do. This will come in handy for those weekly meetings with your managers, but also when it comes time to update your resume. Keep a list of all your tasks (big and small)!

3. CULTIVATE MENTORS AND EARN THEIR TRUST

While this can feel a little embarrassing, we were all new hires once! Your managers will be able to tell if you’re giving something your all and will appreicate you all the more for the simple things, like completing tasks on time and having a positive attitude no matter what.

4. ABC: ALWAYS BE COMMUNICATING

It’s easy to get caught in the weeds when you’re juggling a few different tasks. Make sure to touch base with your manager at least once a day. If something feels overwhelming, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Better to ask now than wait for someone to realize you need help.

5. GET TO KNOW YOUR FELLOW INTERNS (THEY’RE REALLY COOL)

Beyond your immediate managers and mentors, you also have a great community of peers! Working remotely can feel isolating at times, so reach out and get to know your fellow interns. You never know what you might have in common.
