AUSTIN: 201 E. Ben White Boulevard, Bldg B Austin, TX 78704
Dear Friends of Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas:
Ninety years ago, our first health center opened in Dallas. At that time, politicians banned birth control and women were desperate for access to contraception education and services. Community volunteers bravely stepped in to provide access to contraception through health centers in communities throughout Texas.
Today, our services expand beyond birth control and offer women, men and LGBTQIA+ and non-binary patients in Austin, Dallas, Denton, El Paso, Fort Worth, Lubbock, Plano, Waco and surrounding communities a range of essential sexual and reproductive healthcare services The majority of our patients are uninsured women of color, earning less than $30,000 annually. We are proud to be a trusted resource for care.
Texas has the most uninsured residents in the United States. Under Texas’ extreme abortion bans, it is a dangerous state in which to be pregnant and yet the majority of pregnancies in Texas are unintended. Texas Legislative policies currently block federal and state funding for patients at our health centers and in 2025, we expect new challenges by state and federal politicians hostile to Planned Parenthood’s healthcare services.
Your generous philanthropic support is the lifeline that enabled our health centers to provide more than 131,000 patient visits last year. Today, just as we have since our first health centers opened their doors, we are focused on our mission and what we CAN do—not what we CAN’T do---to best serve Texans counting on Planned Parenthood. Your support makes this possible and creates hope for humanity.
In 2024, PPGT health centers provided 19% more clinician appointments, 21% more STI testing and treatments, 28% more telehealth appointments, and 86% more gender affirming care appointments than in 2023. These increases reflect the on-going need for affordable sexual healthcare in Texas. This is possible because of your support.
in 2024, we opened a beautiful new state-of-the-art health center in El Paso and launched menopause services, rapid STI testing results available during a patient’s appointment, and the option of pain management for IUD insertions and removals in every one of our health centers. This year, we expanded to provide essential healthcare in the Houston area with the expectation that we'll serve more than 100,000 patients in 2026.
With your support, we are here today and for the next generation of Texans counting on Planned Parenthood. Thank you for standing with our patients and the communities we serve.

Texans Need Planned Parenthood
Texas is in a public health crisis as highlighted by Texas’ maternal mortality and unintended pregnancy rates. In Texas, Black women die at more than twice the rate of white women following pregnancy1 and 54% of pregnancies in Texas are unintended2, more than the national average of 45%.3 Unintended pregnancies increase the likelihood of negative health outcomes including delayed prenatal care, premature birth, and other health complications.4 Many Texans face barriers to healthcare access that further deepen health disparities. These disparities disproportionately impact uninsured, low-income, and undocumented Texans, communities of color, and LGBTQIA+ Texans.
Planned Parenthood healthcare services support sexual and reproductive health and include screenings for hypertension, anemia, diabetes, intimate partner violence (IPV), and postpartum contraception.
Patients receive patient-centered contraceptive counseling that is comprehensive, high-quality and covers the full range of birth control methods available. Our patients feel seen, heard and respected in their decision-making.

Sex Education in Texas: Challenges and Progress
TACT Program Celebrates 40 years
In 2024, TACT celebrated it’s 40th anniversary with a special family and friends performance at the Dallas Children's Theater. Over 120 friends, family, supporters, and alumni joined us to commemorate more than four decades of peer-to-peer education through theater. This milestone event honored TACT’s long-standing impact through performance to educate and engage the Dallas community on critical health topics important to teens, and empowering young people through creative expression and advocacy.
“ It's really important for teens to learn how to be advocates in their community and with programs like this it helps teens do just that."
-Planned Parenthood TAB Member
Teens who talk about sex with their parent(s) or another trusted adult are more likely to postpone having sex and make healthier decisions about sexual behavior. Get the conversation started through Talk First! or ¡Hable Primero! workshops.
Educators Parents
Planned Parenthood's community health educators are trained to implement effective sex education interventions tailored to each group of adolescents or adults. Lessons and curriculums are selected to meet the needs of youth and adults in after-school programs, schools, community partnerships, detention programs, shelters, foster homes and other community settings.

Community Health Education
Texas has the ninth highest rate1 of teen births and the second highest rate of repeat teen births2 in the United States.
Planned Parenthood’s three-part approach to community health education engages parents, educators, and peers to reduce the rates of unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections in Texas. Our signature education programs provide the skills and support individuals need to make well-informed decisions about relationships and sexual health.
Community health education programs are donor- and grant-funded, and available at no cost as a community resource for young people and adults.

Advocacy for Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare
Planned Parenthood Public Affairs staff engage Texans through events, trainings, and volunteer opportunities to develop and strengthen their advocacy skills for sexual and reproductive healthcare, sex education, and restoring access to abortion in Texas.
Through Pride, MLK, Jr Day and Juneteenth events, regional book clubs, collaboration with supportive organizations, workshops on advocating for sexual and reproductive healthcare, and more, almost 22,000 Texans connected with Planned Parenthood through nearly 350 community events in 2024. Supporters contributed more than 2,000 volunteer hours hosting community events and assembling period and emergency contraception kits for local shelters and college campuses.
"I can say with confidence that I have left this program a stronger, more knowledgeable community leader. I had the opportunity to directly talk to and engage with my community, expand my knowledge on reproductive health, learn about the inner-workings of a nonprofit, and organize an event. These are all things I will use in my continued pursuit of organizing toward a better world."

STORIES OF IMPACT
I chose Planned Parenthood at different stages in my life - I was low-income at one point and received discounted services. I am now a middle-income earner and have sought their services twice in the last two years, even though I can go to a primary care physician.
I've been going to Planned Parenthood since I was a teenager. They are still the hands down most caring and compassionate company and staff across the board and I'd prefer to see them above anyone for care.
Listened to all my questions and helped me make the best informed decision for my personal situation! Fantastic experience, I feel so much more confident about proceeding with my transition now.
I have friends who are also considering medical transition, and this is definitely the place I’d recommend.
It was so refreshing to have a medical professional who truly took the time to listen to me and answer all of my questions about my health. I haven't felt this cared for by a provider in such a long time. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!
I always enjoy seeing the care providers at Planned Parenthood. They are so kind and inclusive, and I never feel any judgment from them. I always recommend them to others who need care.
I struggle with a lot of anxiety regarding healthcare visits. It took me a couple of months to be able to make an appointment and not cancel it. The staff at this Planned Parenthood location put me at ease and made me feel comfortable enough to open up and disclose everything relevant, schedule follow-up visits and create a care plan.
