Dear Friends of

During these times of uncertainty, Texans count on Planned Parenthood for essential sexual healthcare and education while advocating on their behalf.

Your generous philanthropic support is the lifeline that enabled our health centers to provide more than 119,000 patient appointments last year. Your donations make our patient care accessible and create hope for humanity.

Texas has the highest number of uninsured residents in the United States. Under Texas’ extreme abortion bans, it can be risky to be pregnant, yet the majority of pregnancies in Texas are unintended. This past year, Houston was cited as one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S. to be Black and pregnant due to unacceptably high maternal mortality rates—the highest in the U.S.

As an essential part of Texas’ medical safety net, Planned Parenthood tackles public health inequities and strengthens the health of Texas communities in key ways, including:

•All patients are welcome, regardless of income level, insurance or documentation status or who they love.

•Most patients can schedule an appointment within 1-3 days, enabling timely access to care and education.

•Through telemedicine and the PP Direct app, patients can access a range of healthcare 7 days a week, including urinary tract infections (UTIs) treatment and birth control to avoid potential emergency room visits and prevent unintended pregnancies.

•In-house pharmacies and labs provide patients sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment in one appointment, reducing barriers for patients with limited time off work and/or childcare.

•Patient-centered contraceptive counseling empowers each patient to select the birth control method of their choice with the option of pain management for IUDs.

•Our compassionate care model of healthcare delivery honors each patient’s autonomy and prioritizes their comfort through resources offered to every patient.

• LGBTQIA+ patients can access trusted care, including gender-affirming hormone therapy for adults, STI testing and treatment, education, and more.

With your support, we are proud to be a trusted resource for healthcare and education in Arlington, Austin, Bedford, Cedar Hill, Dallas, Denton, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, Lubbock, Plano, and Waco, as well as surrounding communities.Thank you for standing with our patients and enhancing the health of the communities we serve.

Trusted, Expert Healthcare

Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas is a public health provider that receives little-to-no public funding due to the current state and federal political climate and ideologically driven policies that exclude Planned Parenthood from most government-funded programs. Patients with and without health insurance choose Planned Parenthood for convenient, expert sexual and reproductive healthcare services provided in a shame-free, compassionate environment. Texas is in a public health crisis as highlighted by Texas’ maternal mortality and unintended pregnancy rates. In Texas, Black women die at more than twice the rate of white women following pregnancy1 and 54% of pregnancies in Texas are unintended2, more than the national average of 45%.3 Unintended pregnancies increase the likelihood of negative health outcomes including delayed prenatal care, premature birth, and other health complications.4 Many Texans face barriers to healthcare access that further deepen health disparities. These disparities disproportionately impact uninsured, low-income, and undocumented Texans, communities of color, and LGBTQIA+ Texans.

Planned Parenthood healthcare services support sexual and reproductive health and include screenings for hypertension, anemia, diabetes, intimate partner violence (IPV), and postpartum contraception.

Patients receive patient-centered contraceptive counseling that is comprehensive, high quality, and covers the full range of birth control methods available. Our goal is for our patients to feel seen, heard, and respected in their decision-making.

EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY IMPACT

“Most importantly, this experience reinforced my commitment to patient-centered care and health equity. Seeing how policy decisions directly impact access to healthcare reminded me why I want to become a physician, so that I can advocate for my patients not only in the exam room but also at the policy level."

Alexis, Waco Student Leader

"This was such a great topic. Often times we have never received information about this and I'm glad we have this space."

Talk First! Parent Education participant

"My role with Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas helped me better understand how we can build partnerships and lock arms with people across issues for overall community betterment."

Sarah, El Paso Student Leader

"We truly appreciate you taking the time to share such important information with our class. The insights and perspective you provided are things we could not have offered on our own, and your contribution made a real impact."

Program lead for disabled young adults education workshop

"The most exciting part of the program was being in the community and educating people about Planned Parenthood services and providing people educational pamphlets and emergency contraception."

Vysh, Fort Worth Student Leader

"I plan to take this and not do the things that can cause harm to my body."

Education workshop participant in foster care

“I met organizers, volunteers, and staff who have dedicated themselves to advocacy and hearing their perspectives gave me a deeper understanding of this work in Texas. This program strengthened my belief that leadership means creating opportunities for others to participate and feel seen. It also helped me connect my own goals in medicine and public health to a broader vision of community health and equity. ”

Kaitlin, Dallas Student Leader

Sex Education Services

Parents

Teens who talk about sex with their parent(s) or another trusted adult are more likely to postpone having sex and make healthier decisions about sexual behavior. Get the conversation started through Talk First! or ¡Hable Primero! workshops, at no cost.

Educators

Planned Parenthood's community health educators are trained to implement effective sex education interventions tailored to each group of adolescents or adults. Science based lessons and curriculums are selected to meet the needs of youth and adults in after-school programs, schools, community partnerships, detention programs, shelters, foster homes and other community settings.

Peers

The Teen Advocacy Board (TAB) is a program empowering teens in Austin and Dallas to advocate for and educate their communities about sexual health.

TeenAge Communication Theatre (TACT) is an award-winning health education program featuring high school volunteers performing interactive theater pieces for other teens in the Dallas area. For more than 40 years, TACT performances have promoted discussion and communication about sexual health issues important to teens.

TEACH & Ask the Experts

TEACH (Texas Educators and Advocates for Community Health) serves as a network for community collaboration. Originating in Dallas, TEACH expanded into Austin, El Paso, and Lubbock. TEACH workshops strengthen local partnerships and create opportunities for community education and dialogue. In 2025, TEACH conversations covered PPGT healthcare, menopause and perimenopause education, online safety for young people, AI companionship and digital safety, and as a space to highlight local community partnerships.

The Ask the Experts online video series features PPGT Community Health Educators answering common questions about sexual and reproductive health, in relatable, short form videos. In 2025, 29 Ask the Experts videos were viewed nearly 85,000 times on Tik Tok, Instagram, and other platforms, connecting viewers with science-based, medically accurate and inclusive information.

"Loved every bit of the event! The program leaders did a fantastic job creating a fluid and fun, deeply connecting event."

Community Health Education

Texas has the ninth highest rate1 of teen births and the second highest rate of repeat teen births2 in the United States.

Planned Parenthood’s three-part approach to community health education engages parents, educators, and peers to reduce the rates of unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections in Texas. Our signature education programs provide the skills and support individuals need to make informed decisions about relationships and sexual health.

Community health education programs are donor and grant-funded, and available, at no cost, as a community resource for young people and adults.

Advocacy for Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare

Planned Parenthood Public Affairs staff provide year-round opportunities for supporters to learn about our services and programs, volunteer, advocate for their rights, and understand the healthcare needs of their communities.

Supporters contributed nearly 3,000 volunteer hours assembling period and emergency contraception kits for local homeless shelters and area nonprofits, as well as assisting with PPGT events such as Texas Capitol Lobby Day.

During the Texas Legislative Session, 262 volunteers participated in Planned Parenthood’s Legislative Lobby Day in Austin, advocating for increased access to vital healthcare services for Texans.
