VISIONING
PlaceWorks believes that parks are essential community infrastructure—providing a range of environmental, health, economic, and social benefits. Informed by our expertise in landscape architecture, GIS, and community engagement, our multidisciplinary approach to open space visioning and master plan development is effective at all scales and results in actionable plans to create, enhance, and preserve open space resources throughout California.
PARK EQUITY AND ACCESS
PlaceWorks is one of the leaders in planning for equity in California. We work on projects throughout California communities that emphasize providing equitable access to parks and open space. We work to develop park equity strategies, urban greening plans, and community-based park assessments and planning. We work with local partners and community-based organizations to increase public park space, investment, access and use, and to connect local residents with outdoor recreational spaces and nature.

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
PlaceWorks works closely with communities and clients to develop programs that meet user needs in a sustainable manner. Using a variety of tools ranging from in-depth interviews with individual stakeholders, to online surveys and committee meetings, we gather community and agency input as part of an analysis process that includes consideration of the physical characteristics of the landscape and agency policies to create programs that connect people to the land.
