Wellbeing Well How primary school pupils look after their wellbeing

This pupil's wellbeing activity is sitting in their bedroom reading a book. The guitar next to them could also show they play music to help them feel better too.

“When I am sad a hug with my sister will make me happy.”

Kydon, age 9

This pupil shows both of their favourite wellbeing activities - swimming and singing on stage.

“When I feel sad, I go to a football pitch with my dad. And I love drawing. Sometimes when I’m anxious, I sit next to a tree.”

Tasha, age 10

This pupil has drawn four of their wellbeing activities - going on the computer, drawing, playing their ukulele and watching shows about our solar system.

“When I am feeling sad, I dance, and it makes me feel safe. Basketball makes me happy. When I am feeling worried, I do cheerleading, and it makes me feel relaxed and calm.”

Skye, age 10

This pupil's favourite wellbeing activity is playing rugby with their teammates.

“When I am anxious, I do some drawing. Drawing helps me calm down and my stomach feels less sick.

Place2Be is very good because you can tell them you are upset. Mindful colouring helps me a lot.”

Shumaylah, age 9

This pupil shows how they like to sit at their desk and read or draw pictures of the planet, Saturn.

“When I am sad, I like to play noughts and crosses with my Mum.” Isabella, age 9

This pupil loves to be outdoors either walking their dog in the park or riding their bike.

“When I feel sad, I like to go and get some fresh air.

When I get back, I play with my brother and sisters.

They are only two, but they make me feel safe and joyful. Sometimes I play hide and seek with them, and I cuddle with them.”

Kylan, age 10

A pupil has shown both of their wellbeing activities, including drawing pictures of flowers and archery.

“When I am sad or angry, I like to sketch. I like to sketch because it keeps me calm. I also like to go on a call with my friends because they cheer me up but, most of the time, I have a shower to feel fresh.”

Sumaya, age 10

This pupil has drawn three wellbeing activities that they love to do - playing basketball, dancing and cheerleading.

“When I feel sad, I like to talk to my friends because they make me feel happy and safe. I also like to make things up with my friends like handshakes and games. Most of all I like to talk to my family because that makes me feel LOVED!” Isla, age 9

This pupil shows that they like to go for walks as their wellbeing activity, even in the rain.

“I like to draw because it is mindful and calm.

I like to sing because it’s fun.”

Sophia, age 9

Another pupil shows three of their favourite wellbeing activities - singing, shopping and drawing.

“When I’m feeling sad and worried, I go to my bunnies to play with them and it makes me really happy. I love them so much! They are very playful, and I love seeing them munch on food because it sounds really cute.”

Elina, age 10

This pupil likes to be creative and produce videos to look after their wellbeing.

“When I’m sad or upset I will paint or draw.

Drawing makes me feel calm and happy. I also like to FaceTime my friends because I can make them laugh. If I am sad or upset, I would go in the bath.”

Bethan, age 9

This pupil shows four different activities that help their wellbeing - drawing, playing with animals, reading books in bed and playing with their cuddly toys.

"When I feel sad, I like to bake for the family and draw lots of pictures. I like to bake chocolate cakes and rocky road. I like to draw people and animals. When I make people laugh it makes me happy."

Grace, age 9

This pupil drew themselves growing and planting seeds in the garden, to help their wellbeing.

“When I’m feeling sad and upset, I draw and, sometimes, I go into my room to have a little ‘me time’. It makes me feel happy again and, when I come back downstairs, I say to myself, ‘I feel happy again’.

Hakeema, age 9

This pupil had lots of ideas of ways to help their wellbeing; including sitting in the sun, baking, and playing football.

“When I’m feeling upset, I like to read, and it makes me feel relaxed. When I’m feeling angry, I colour pictures and it makes me feel calm. When I feel annoyed, I play with my teddies and it makes me feel happy. When I’m feeling nervous, I play with my cat and it makes me feel confident.”

Halima, age 9

This pupil said that their pets help their wellbeing, and drew a picture of their dog, cat and other animals.

“When I feel sad, I talk to my parents and sometimes I play games with my brother. My family and I used to go on picnics but when the lockdown came, we stopped. But at home I played with my brother, watched movies, and spent time with my family. All these things cheer me up.”

Arshia, age 10

One pupil drew themselves dancing on stage.

“When I feel sad I like to write it in my diary. I also like to talk to my mum and give her a big hug – that always makes me feel better! When I feel anxious, sometimes I talk to my friends. I also love to talk to my family about it. Sometimes, when I feel bored, I play with my little sister. She always makes me feel better.”

Hannah, age 9

This pupil enjoys picnics in the sun, and says they cheer them up when they're feeling sad.
