2025 PJCC Impact Report

Page 1

A Message from PJCC Development Committee

Chair & Chief Development O cer

Reflecting on this past year, we are continually inspired by you, our PJCC community. We have heard many powerful stories about how PJCC has met, and often exceeded, your needs. A common thread runs through them all: our mission to foster belonging and meaningful connections for a diverse community rooted in Jewish values and traditions truly resonates. Because of your generosity, this mission comes to life every day — through programs that bring people together, spaces that feel welcoming and inclusive, and experiences that build lasting friendships and community.

Partnership is at the heart of everything we do. We work collaboratively across our community, bringing together volunteers, members, supporters, and leadership to ensure that diverse perspectives are heard and valued. Together, we respond to evolving community needs, expand access to meaningful programs, and ensure that no one is turned away. Your investment sustains what exists today and makes growth and innovation possible for the future. We are grateful for all that you do in helping us strengthen our vibrant, connected community and look forward to continuing this partnership.

In the wake of October 7th, I found myself searching for a meaningful way to respond, one rooted not in certainty, but in listening, learning, and showing up with humility. Participating in the PJCC Allyship Cohort became a profound gift, offering a depth and clarity I had not known before. The bridge the cohort builds from education, to relationship, to action truly works, and offers a hopeful and scalable path forward.

– PJCC Allyship Project, 2025 Cohort Member

Enhancing Jewish Journeys

The PJCC’s pluralistic, inclusive, and welcoming environment is an important destination for families seeking to raise Jewish children. Our Preschool, Treehouse afterschool program, engagement opportunities support development of lasting Jewish identity.

Our daughter was hesitant to switch Hebrew programs, but after trying a class at the PJCC, she came home excited. She loved the teacher, connected with classmates, and even met a peer from her high school she didn’t know was Jewish. We’re so grateful she’s now learning Hebrew here, building friendships and Jewish connection in our own community.

Improving Quality Of Life

The PJCC is a trusted lifeline for adults, addressing physical, mental, spiritual, and communal needs in a supportive environment. Cultural activities and regular fitness are known to extend lifespan and improve quality of life. Our weekly discussion groups, regular concert series, art exhibits, supportive transportation programs, and physical wellness activities serve to stimulate minds, elevate souls, and combat social isolation by building a vibrant community that

I came for exercise, but what I found was a lifeline. After moving to a new community, I needed connection just as much as I needed to stay physically active—and here, I found both. This is a place where kindness is constant, friendships take root, and people truly look out for one another. Now, I’m even teaching bridge here, trying to give back to a community that has given me so much. It keeps me strong, engaged, and part of something larger. At this stage of life, that isn’t just meaningful—it’s essential to my well-being.

Enriching Community

The PJCC engages thousands of people in joyfully exploring Jewish values, ideas, and traditions each year. We provide a welcoming space to enrich Jewish identity and deepen community connection learning opportunities, community-wide educational programs, and holiday celebrations.

It feels like home here. From the moment I walk in, I’m welcomed with warmth and kindness. There’s a real sense of safety, belonging, and connection to Jewish culture and community. It’s a place where people truly care—where you can come to be with friends, enjoy music, celebrate, and feel supported at every stage of life.

Building Relationships & Understanding

The PJCC stands as a beacon of unity, fostering relationships across diverse religious, ethnic, and civic communities. Our membership reflects the incredible diversity of our local population, with programs helping shape attitudes and raise generations of people from all backgrounds with an understanding and respect for Jewish values and people, providing an antidote to hate and bias, in a world where antisemitism and bigotry persist.

I feel truly grateful to be part of the PJCC community. As someone navigating health challenges and limited resources, the financial assistance program gave me the opportunity to join and take meaningful steps toward improving my physical and mental wellbeing. The warm welcome by staff and members, and a sense of belonging has made all the difference. Coming from an Iranian background, I also deeply appreciate the opportunity to learn more about Jewish culture and connect across communities. PJCC is more than a gym, it’s a place of support, inclusion, and genuine care.

PJCC Member, Financial Assistance Recipient &Donor

&A

PJCC Chai Society brings together a dedicated group of donors who contribute $1,800 or more annually to sustain our vibrant community. Chai, represented by the number 18, means life in Hebrew,  and that’s exactly what these gifts provide: helping ensure the PJCC remains a vibrant, welcoming place for connection, culture, and community for years to come.

What is your PJCC story? What connects you and your family to the PJCC and our mission?

There has never been a time when the PJCC was not a part of my life. I attended PJCC summer camp at the Belmont site when I was a young girl, where I met other  Jewish kids from the Peninsula. When I had my three children, they attended PJCC Preschool and  summer camp until they were old enough to attend sleep away camp at Camp Newman and Maccabi Sports Camp. The PJCC brings people together and I will be forever grateful for the decades-long friendships I have made through the Center and preschool.

For those who may not be familiar, what is the Chai Society?

Chai Society includes donors giving $1,800 and more to support many of the mission-driven programs that are offered at the Center. Many PJCC members are unaware that PJCC is a not-for-profit organization, and Chai Society bridges that gap so vital programs can be offered to our patrons. Donations through Chai Society ensure that families, individuals, and seniors have access to educational opportunities, wellness programs, and cultural experiences that enrich lives and strengthen our community.

Q: This year marks 10 Years of Chai  Society. What  does this milestone mean to you and why did you choose to make a special "10  for 10" gift this year?

A: I was honored to be asked this year to be the Chai Society Chair. Lorna Siepser, who serves as Founding Chai Society Chair, and our professional staff, have worked tirelessly over the past ten years to create Chai Society and build a culture of belonging for our donors. In the next several months I am looking forward to getting to know more of our amazing donors and cultivating relationships of my own.

Danny, my husband, and I have made yearly donations to the PJCC over the past 27 years. In 2025, our twins graduated college and we finally had the opportunity to make our largest gift to date of $10,000 in honor of Chai Society’s 10th anniversary. Danny and I know that the programs funded from our donation will support preschool families through seniors: L' Dor V' Dor – from generation to generation. This Hebrew phrase was embedded into our minds by our parents and grandparents, to give back to our community.

Q: What would you say to someone considering joining the Chai Society?

A: Future generations and community are why I decided to join as Chair, and I would highly encourage anyone to join Chai Society! These additional funds provide programs to individuals, families, and seniors. These generous donations create lifetime experiences where all of our participants are included.

Q: Looking ahead, what excites you most about the future of the Chai Society?

A: In the upcoming months, I am very excited to meet our Chai Society donors to discuss what they love about the PJCC and why they choose to give. I aim to be a liaison to discuss all these important topics, being a PJCC center member myself. Secondly, being Chai Society Chair gives me a chance to say "Thank You" to our donors. Without them, none of our additional programming would be possible.

The PJCC gratefully acknowledges the following individuals, foundations, community partners, and corporations who made generous contributions from January 1-December 31, 2025.

Thank you for partnering with us to positively impact lives. You and your gifts matter, and we apologize for any inadvertent omissions or errors. Please contact us with questions at development@pjcc.org or 650.378.2705.
