CONNECTIVITY 2023 NBAA-BACE Updates

Oct 17, 2023 Viasat harmonizes its Viasat Ka-band offering with ex-Inmarsat Jet ConneX Following the recent acquisition of Inmarsat business, Viasat will now be offering an expanded range of service options to business aviation customers using Viasat’s existing GAT-5510 terminal, as well as three upcoming next-generation Jet ConneX terminals - Satcom Direct’s Plane Simple Ka-band, Orbit’s AirTRx30, and Honeywell’s JetWave X. These will be available in early 2024 for aircraft equipped with the GAT-5510 and upon entry-into-service for aircraft with any next-generation Jet ConneX terminal. Customers will benefit from the strength of Viasat’s network, which has more Ka-band capacity than any other in-flight Wi-Fi provider, in addition to the innovative technology and lightweight designs of the next-generation terminals, which optimize performance and reduce costs, while also simplifying installation and maintenance Viasat has also announced an incentive for business aviation customers that use its SwiftBroadband (SBB) and SwiftJet Lband in-flight connectivity, and upgrade to any Viasat Ka-band solution, so they can benefit from near-term savings and other benefits that SBB offers.

Honeywell unveils unveiled JetWave™ X, a next-generation high-speed in-flight connectivity solution optimized for the business aviation industry. JetWave X will provide customers with unprecedented coverage and data speeds by leveraging Viasat’s Ka-band network, including its ViaSat-3 satellites and the Global Xpress (GX) satellites from its recently acquired Inmarsat business, offering the highest capacity available in the market today. JetWave X builds upon the success of Honeywell’s JetWave™ SATCOM system by being easier to install and having greater service network flexibility, with the capability to connect to any Viasat Ka-band satellite. In collaboration with Viasat, Honeywell has designed JetWave X to unlock significant increases in data rates for the business aviation industry, enabling access to speeds that exceed increasing passenger demands and the most data-hungry applications of the future, with typical speeds consistently greater than 30 Mbps and as high as 100 Mbps, even in the busiest flight corridors.
