The Phenom 100EV is the third iteration of Embraer’s successful EMB-500 Very Light Jet (VLJ) model marketed under the Phenom 100 designation. The Brazilian manufacturer decided to enter what was then a booming VLJ market in 2005. The 2017 EV model introduces a touchscreen flight deck powered by the Garmin G3000 Avionics Suite and several performance improvements thanks to a more powerful Pratt & Whitney Canada PW617F1-E engine. In July 2023, Emirates announced the launch of an on-demand regional charter service, offering flexibility, convenience, privacy, and comfort for customers who want to make short trips in the GCC from Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). The new service offering is operated by the airline’s Phenom 100 fleet. The Emirates Flight Training Academy placed an order for five Phenom 100 business jets at the 2015 Dubai Air before upgrading this order to the newer Phenom 100EV aircraft, becoming one of its launch customers and the first in the world to use the Phenom 100EV as a training platform for cadets.

BIZLINERS Boeing Business Jets
A conversation with Adam Mertz, Head of communications Boeing Business Jets At EBACE 2023, Boeing announced orders for up to four ultralong-range BBJs including an option for a BBJ 777-9, how do you see the capabilities of this new BBJ flagship jet changing the game in the Bizliners segment? What is a true differentiator for the BBJ 777-9 is its globespanning range. The airplane will be capable of connecting any two cities in the world, non-stop. To put that in perspective, its range exceeds half the circumference of the globe, enabling customers to fly from Dubai to destinations like Santiago, Auckland, Los Angeles and everywhere in between. The BBJ 777-9 also incorporates our most modern advancements derived from the BBJ 787. Some of those features include the low cabin altitude system, larger electronic dimming windows and smooth ride technology to counteract and reduce the effects of turbulence. Combine those with the benefits of flying a business jet built off our robust commercial platform, the BBJ 777-9 is an attractive option for customers. Since the first BBJ 787-8 delivery in December 2013, The BBJ 787 has become one of the most popular platforms for VIP and VVIP transportation, what makes these widebody jets so popular? The BBJ 787 Dreamliner provides an unparalleled passenger experience along with enhanced performance, range and efficiency. What passengers notice is the airplane’s lower cabin
16 | ELITE WINGS MAGAZINE
altitude, increased cabin air humidity and advanced smooth ride technology to counter the effects of turbulence. These all work together to significantly enhance passenger comfort. With its visionary composite airframe, the BBJ 787 Dreamliner delivers fuel savings with a range up to 9,945 nautical miles (18,420 km). The combination of design and performance strongly position the BBJ 787 Dreamliner in the market. The Government market, including Head of State transportation, is one of the key markets for BBJ. How does BBJ plan to maintain its leadership in this segment? We maintain our leadership in this market by always putting our customers at the center of everything we do, and ensuring we continuously deliver the most reliable, technologically advanced jets in the world. From the BBJ 737 MAX to the BBJ 787 Dreamliner and BBJ 777X — the BBJ family offers globe-spanning range capable of meeting the mission requirements for head of state travel. We provide a seamless, smooth experience from purchase and interior completion to operation and maintenance support for all of our BBJ customers. Everyone has different requirements, and we are focused on demonstrating the flexibility of a BBJ to meet their needs.
Last month, at the 2023 NBAA-BACE in Las Vegas, Boeing Business Jet revealed a new turnkey offering for the BBJ 737-7 marketed under the “BBJ Select” designation. Can you walk us through this new offering? BBJ Select offers a new, streamlined approach to designing a unique, comfortable and functional interior for our BBJ 737-7 jet. For customers who may not have the time or desire to create a fully bespoke interior, they can select from our catalog of predesigned cabin layouts and configurations. From guest rooms and private offices to family rooms and VIP passenger seating configurations, there are 144 possible combinations in three different color palettes.
BBJ Select accelerates the interior installation and reduces completion costs, allowing us to offer the BBJ 737-7 at a very attractive, fixed price.

The most noticeable feature of the 777X is the folding wingtips addition, allowing it to fit the 235-foot wingspan limit of standard airport gates. The 777X is the third generation of the original 1999 Boeing 777 dual-engine wide-body airplane developed by US-based Aerospace conglomerate Boeing. Launched in 1990 with the first order from USbased United Airlines, The Boeing 777 was the largest twinjet ever developed, taking full advantage of higher engine reliably and newly developed standards and regulations for Extended Twin-engine Operations (ETOPS). The first Boeing 777 completed its first flight on June 12th, 1994, prior to entering service in 1995 with launch customer United Airlines. Original 777 models were powered with a choice of engines from three manufactures: General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, and Rolls Royce. The following generations dropped the
multiple-selections in favor of the recordbreaking GE90-115B engine from General Electric equipping both the very popular 777300ER and the less popular, ultra long range 777-200LR. The Boeing 777 completely changed the commercial long-haul operation contributing to the large decline of the fourengine airliners. Launched in 2013, The third generation 777X comes in two models, the 777-8 and 777-9 both featuring stretched fuselage with an advanced composite wing and the latest generation GE9X engine from General Electric. The first 777-9 model completed its first flight on January 25th, 2020, kicking off the certification campaign prior to projected service entry in 2025.
As the Boeing 777 family took over the 747 as the workhorse for the long-range commercial air transport industry, the BBJ 777-9 is getting ready to take over the 747 as the pinnacle of luxury aviation. In a significant milestone for the aviation industry, Boeing has officially announced the cessation of production for the iconic 747-8, marking the end of an era for the legendary jumbo jet. The decision to halt production comes as a reflection of evolving market demands and a shift in focus towards more modern, fuel-efficient aircraft. The double-decker 747, Queen of the Skies is operated by several governments for VVIP and Head of State transportation. 19 | ELITE WINGS MAGAZINE

Adapted from Lufthansa Technik's EXPLORER concept, the sophisticated projection technology transforms the enclosed cocoon into an almost immersive wellness and entertainment world if required, displaying a wide variety of customized digital content ranging from a cinema screen to 180° impressions of the next travel destination or virtual works of art. If there is less need for seclusion, rotating and sliding lamellae can open the cocoon to the rest of the cabin to provide access to the exercise or dressing rooms on the side, or to allow more daylight into the VVIP area. In this way, the feeling of space is maximized by the enormous cabin width of the BBJ 777-9.

The Work & Balance area adjoining the cocoon also makes full use of the cabin width and is designed to be multifunctional. In the two flexibly rotating and sliding seats, guests here can not only gather around the large VVIP desk for audiences, but also turn and move their seats to the side divans for conversations with additional guests. A cleverly integrated swivel mechanism also allows the surface area of the tables in front of the divans to be expanded as needed. Another highlight of the design in this room are the numerous trapezoidal wall niches, for example for exhibits, which can be closed with an invisible mechanism if required and then disappear seamlessly into the linear wall structure.

Adjacent to the Private Suite is the Celestial Lounge, through which passengers enter the aircraft like a lobby. With an elegantly integrated bar for refreshments and several stylish seating arrangements, it ensures the perfect first impression and provides the adequate setting for welcoming high-ranking guests on board or preparing them for meetings in the Work & Balance area. Intermediate doors shield guests aesthetically and acoustically from the outer functional doors of the aircraft cabin, creating an all-around pleasant feeling of space in abundance. When the corridors are open, the Celestial Lounge merges almost seamlessly into the adjoining Conference & Dining area.

The Conference & Dining area is a multifunctional zone combining the functions of a majlis, the traditional Middle Eastern gathering and meeting room, and an eleven-seat meeting or dining table. seats can easily be rotated from a dining or conference position at the large center table toward the surrounding divans and moved outward for conversations on the side. State-ofthe-art communication and conference technology, such as monitors that can be fully retracted into the table, connects this room, and the entire aircraft, with the world. Particularly eye-catching are the large window shades with electrochromatic dimming, which are fully integrated into the oriental-inspired design.

Since the CelestialSTAR concept primarily targets customers from royal families in the Middle East, who usually fly around the world with large delegations, the second half of the cabin offers generous accommodation - for example – for the advisory staff and other personnel. High-ranking ministers or state guests can be accommodated in the six Deluxe Suites, modern firstclass compartments that have been specially adapted to this VIP cabin design. For additional passengers, there are also 32 seats in the so-called Executive Area, which corresponds to state-of-the-art business class seating. This is followed at the rear of the cabin by the Entourage Area, a premium economy cabin.

ELITE WINGS MAGAZINE | 31
Aloki Batra, CEO, FIVE Hospitality answers Elite Wings Magazine questions about the launch of Fly FIVE
During the 2021 Dubai Airshow - the first in-person post-covid aviation gathering – FIVE group announced a surprising order for the first Airbus ACJ TwoTwenty from Comlux. What was the vision that drove this acquisition decision? As a boundary-breaking disruptive hospitality entity that is world-renowned for excellence in customer delight, Fly FIVE is a natural evolution of FIVE’s bouquet of immersive entertainment offerings. As with FIVE Hotels and Resorts on the ground, Fly FIVE welcomes guests to experience an ultra-luxe, bespoke in-air entertainment experience, allowing passengers to indulge in the most opulent surroundings in the skies. Fly FIVE is truly a FIVE-Star experiential offering for the discerning private jet aficionado. Fly FIVE has also taken off into a new sustainability frontier. Dedicated to entirely offsetting FLY FIVE’s emissions, an estimated 600 hours per year, the company has partnered with Nature-Based Carbon Credits, becoming a direct champion of rainforest preservation. By acquiring credits attached to forest conservation projects, FIVE has taken key action to protect the Earth’s crucial biodiversity. With the delivery of the first ACJ TwoTwenty registered 9H-FIVE- in May this year, FIVE announced the start of a new chapter in its awardwinning entertainment-driven hospitality portfolio. Can you give us an overview of your new ‘Airborne’ experience offering? The Fly FIVE ACJ TwoTwenty is a dare-to-be-different jet. Its spacious cabin for up to 15 passengers boasts all the conveniences of modern luxury living but in the sky. The main cabin offers an open lounge and a dining table for up to 8 passengers sharing a meal together. The aft lounge combines privacy and technology with an ultra-large 55-inch screen that could rival in-home theater experiences. The Master suite embraces a serene setting with a king-sized bed and spa-like shower for the ultimate experience in luxurious travel. All passengers can benefit from nonstop streaming and ultra-high-speed connectivity. Installed throughout the cabin, smart technology touchscreens provide all the comfort and conveniences right at your fingertips. The electrochromatic window shades offer passengers unparalleled panoramic views of the world below.
32 | ELITE WINGS MAGAZINE
FIVE group is known for its leadership in sustainability with some of the highly ranked “Smart and Sustainable” hotels in the world. How did this commitment contribute to the selection and operation of the new ACJ TwoTwenty - The most efficient aircraft in its category? FIVE's 'Sustainable Indulgence' Ethos is all about breaking beyond the mold and pursuing an innovative, not restrictive, approach. The fact is, sustainable development requires the buy in of the whole world, not just the stereotypical spaces and interpretations; it has to be backed by science but adapt to meet all varieties of stakeholders and industry spaces. Planes are not disappearing nor is luxury. Rather the types of questions FIVE pursues is how we can take these spaces and products and deliver them in a cleaner, more efficient and climate-forward way while maintaining and even enhancing their quality and luxury. Sustainability must not result in a world of reduced quality and consumer optionality - the fundamental raison d'etre of Sustainable Development is that it exists, and is in fact the only way, to unlock an even greater level of experience and development potential in our world. In this way, FIVE embraces luxury and flight within its Sustainability ethos, and will continue to approach its products with a collaborative, iterative and innovative mindset, not one of cynicism and restriction. The Comlux ACJ TwoTwenty offering is very particular in the Bizliners segment – Modified Airliners - as it allows for a modular interior design similar to the purpose build business jets offering. Can you walk us through the FIVE configuration and some of the key features in the FIVE jet? The aircraft, 9H-FIVE, pronounced Nine-Hotel FIVE, has a performance range of 5,200 nm (with 4 Additional Fuel tanks) and an average speed of 460 kts / 850 km/h. The first-of-its-kind cabin dimensions are 78.1 ft in length and 10.8 ft in width with a height of 6.6 ft. The inflight entertainment system includes high-speed WiFi connectivity of up to 50 Mbps, two 55’’ inch screens, individual iPads Pro for each passenger, airshow full streaming, and personal device mirroring. With a home base in Dubai, the cabin seats 15 and sleeps 8 comfortably. With a crew of 2 pilots and 2 flight attendants, the aircraft can accommodate over 60 large suitcases European standard size.

BIZLINERS TURBOPROPS
HighLine The new Luxury Turboprop Offering by
ATR
34 | ELITE WINGS MAGAZINE
Thanks to the efficiency of turboprop technology, ATR HighLine offers a responsible choice for business aviation Operators with up to 45% less fuel consumption and associated CO2 emissions than equivalent jets. 35 | ELITE WINGS MAGAZINE
ELITE WINGS MAGAZINE | 35
Can you walk us through the new ATR Highline collection? ATR HighLine is our brand new series of luxury cabin interiors, designed for our ATR 42 and ATR 72 aircraft models. This collection is comprised of five distinct configurations, each meticulously crafted to cater to the unique operational needs of operators who aim to enhance the flying experience and create a distinguished atmosphere for their passengers. Among these configurations, you will find: ▪ the "Multi-Class" cabins, tailored to meet the needs of US-based airlines for instance, featuring a spacious layout with a 50-seat interior including a dedicated first class; ▪ the "Premium-Flex" interiors, ideal for boutique airlines and charter operators; ▪ the "All-Business class" cabin, providing a semi-private experience; ▪ the "Multi-Section" interior, designed for Heads of State and governmental operations; ▪ the "Bespoke VIP" cabin, which embodies the sophistication of a typical business aircraft interior. The customisation options for each of these configurations are numerous, and the notable advantage of ATR Highline comes as well from the aircraft itself, as the ATR offers a cabin that is as wide as that of the largest private jets in the world, while emitting 50% less CO2. The collection underlines ATR’s commitment to providing tangible and immediate solutions to current environmental challenges, with more responsible options than thirsty business jets. Modified Airliners or “Bizliner” cabin completion process can be complex with multiple third parties involved; can you provide more explanation about the new ATR Highline completion process? The cabin completion process varies depending on the particular interior type in our collection. In-house, we handle the design, certification and installation of some of the configurations, following a straightforward process. For interiors that demand a higher level of customisation and the incorporation of unique elements, we collaborate with external VIP cabin completion centres. We are very meticulous in our selection of partners who then take on the responsibility for certification and installation following an initial green aircraft delivery. When we outsource the cabin implementation process, it remains quite transparent for the end operator as ATR remains accountable for the final delivery, providing a seamless turnkey solution for our customers. Business aviation has very aggressive sustainability objectives as it is working to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Can you explain how the adoption of large turboprops such as the ATR family can accelerate the industry's sustainability objectives? In Europe, it is worth noting that a significant 68% of business aviation flights occur on very short routes, spanning less than 500 nautical miles (approximately 1,000 kilometers). Among these, the most frequently traveled route is the one between Geneva and Paris, which is notably shorter in terms of flight distance. The preference for business jets over established business turboprops can be attributed to the former's higher level of comfort and cabin space. This is precisely where ATR stands out, by introducing a distinctive and innovative offering to the market. With the introduction of the ATR HighLine cabin collection, we now provide a turboprop aircraft that offers the same cabin volume as the largest business jets, while simultaneously achieving a substantial reduction in fuel consumption and, consequently, a notable decrease
36 | ELITE WINGS MAGAZINE
in CO2 emissions, amounting to at least a 50% reduction. Furthermore, our aircraft boasts a 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) capability, and we have a clear roadmap in place to achieve 100% SAF certification by 2025. This combination immediately positions us as a lowest emission choice within the business aviation community. ATR regional aircraft are known for their incredible short-field performance and the ability to operate from unpaved surfaces, how do you think these capabilities can contribute to expanding government and business aviation operators' offerings? Business aviation is renowned for the remarkable freedom it offers, and the ability to land as closely as possible to the final destination is a crucial factor. The distinctive advantage of our aircraft lies in its ability to access locations that are inaccessible to traditional jets of the same cabin volume: much shorter runways (1000m), unpaved runways, narrow runways (14m). And our capacity to serve the most remote locations will be even greater with the ATR 42-600S, our Short Take-off and Landing variant that is currently in development, as it will reduce take-off and landing distances down to just 800m. Entry into service is scheduled for 2025. This advancement will make our aircraft the largest one capable of operating from such runways, consequently providing the most spacious and comfortable cabin in this category. Government operators, particularly those responsible for transporting heads of state and officials, share a similar interest in the capability to bring their dignitaries as close as possible to their intended destinations.

THE BIZLINERS ECOSYSTEM MODIFIED AIRLINERS
Green BBJ enroute to outfitting
Bizliners are commercial airliners modified for a lower passenger count usage in business aviation missions. They are mainly used for government transportation including Head of state (~45% of the market), private including corporate operations (~40%), and charter operations (~15%). Since most regional and narrow-body ranges are fuel limited at lower payload, OEMs or completion centers will certify Auxiliary Fuel Tanks (ACT) installation on these jets to increase their range capability. Boeing in collaboration with General Electric launched Boeing Business Jets in 1996 followed by Airbus who entered the market in 1997 with the launch of Airbus Corporate Jets business unit. Bizliners have a large number of benefits in comparison with purpose-built business jets, notably their large cabin and baggage capability but also some drawbacks in terms of performance, mission capabilities, and versatility.
COMPLETION CENTERS A Boeing 787 at Greenpoint Technologies, a Safran Company, for interior completion
In contrast to purpose-built Business jets that are delivered ready for operations straight from aircraft OEMs. Bizliners are delivered “green” (generally) not painted with only a green primer application. The interior is literally empty and requires design and outfitting at a completion center. Completion centers often offer customized interior design, engineering, and certification of the interior outfitting and additional modifications such as airstairs, connectivity, in-flight entertainment systems, and even airborne protection systems for government and VVIP aircraft. Completion centers will also perform the interior installation and final certification. Completion centers also specialized in bizliners in-service maintenance and follow-on cabin retrofits.
INTERIOR DESIGN
A Lufthansa Technik, Middle-Eastern Inspired BBJ 777-9 VIP cabin concept London-based ALTEA offers Bizliners completion management and VVIP interior design
Bizliners offer the ultimate customization opportunity for having a jet crafted absolutely down to the last detail in accordance with customers’ needs. Interior designers will design the optimum cabin through a thorough understanding of client needs, cultural requirements, and expectations. Although most completion centers offer their internal design team, independent interior designers are often hired by customers or completion centers. These independent interior designers will not only bring their experience in aviation but also from other luxury markets such as yachts or luxury homes and or hotel designs.
COMPLETION MANAGEMENT Although the completion process may seem complex, customers can rely on completion managers who will work closely with the interior designer and completion center, to transition design intent into a cabin that is comfortable, functional, and reliable, and then oversee the entire outfitting process to ensure that client expectations, budget and quality standards are met.

BUSINESS JETS LONG RANGE
Bombardier Global 7500 Raising the bar in the ultra-long-range segment Bombardier once again strengthened its position as an industry leader earlier this fall, announcing the 150th delivery of an ultra-long-range Bombardier Global 7500 jet, a program that has redefined the ultra-longrange sector. The smooth ride, sophisticated design, proven performance, and advanced technology have garnered industry recognition internationally. The exceptional capabilities have ensured an impressive fleet dispatch reliability of over 99.8% and more than 100,000 flight hours. 42 | ELITE WINGS MAGAZINE
The Global 7500 business jet delivers an impressive range of 7,700 NM and at 51,000 ft can hold a top cruise speed of Mach 0.925. This aerodynamic efficiency is record-setting. In October 2019, the Global 7500 recorded the longest flight in business aviation, flying 8,225 nautical miles from Sydney, Australia, to Detroit, Michigan. It recently added a further 20-speed record mission on several key routes, showcasing its impressive performance attributes. Innovative design elements set the benchmark for an exceptional cabin. With a height of 6 feet 2 inches and a width of 8 feet, its interior spans 54 feet 5 inches to accommodate up to 19 passengers in superior comfort. Four true living areas offer a forward lounge for meetings, an entertainment area, a flexible and configurable dining area served from a superbly equipped kitchen, and a relaxed like-home bedroom with a full-sized bed and ensuite. Bombardier’s patented, ergonomic Nuage seat features the industry’s first zero-gravity position and is complemented by the Nuage chaise. Bombardier’s advanced Soleil lighting system helps to balance circadian rhythms and combined with the Bombardier Pũr Air purification system circulating 100% fresh air, reduces jet lag. The innovative nice Touch Cabin Management System (CMS), tailored specifically for the Global 7500 jet, adds to the onboard experience with its elegant environmental control technology. Productivity and entertainment are enabled through a consistent, high-speed broadband connection. The ultra-fast capabilities and impeccably designed interior enable videoconferencing by day and streaming movies by night to the industry’s only 55-inch high-definition TV screen. The expansive interior enables a streamlined transition from the terrestrial world to flight above the clouds.

Set to enter into service in 2025, the Global 8000 aircraft program takes the incredible attributes of the Global 7500 aircraft to another level. Boasting an industry-leading range of 8,000 NM and an unbeatable top speed of Mach 0.94, the Global 8000 program has already executed nearly 150 flight test hours on the aircraft, including ground testing, and clocked up close to 1,000 hours on the ground systems. It is the world’s fastest and longest-range purpose-built business jet, the fastest civil aircraft since Concorde, and the fastest aircraft assembled in Canada in five decades. Flying faster and farther than any aircraft in its class, the Global 8000 is capable of more than 4,200 nm at an average cruise speed of Mach 0.92 at altitudes of 51,000 ft. To reach and achieve these in-service speeds and, more importantly, to qualify the aircraft, Bombardier had to fly supersonic, achieving 1.01 Mach in test flights. Bombardier contracted the services of a NASA F/A 18 Hornet to serve as a chase plane and official observer. During the validation, the Global 8000 test pilots made history, becoming the fastest men in business aviation, and Bombardier delivered another legendary moment, flying supersonically on sustainable aviation fuel. In addition to the phenomenal speeds, the Global 8000 jet retains the award-winning pedigree for which the Global 7500 aircraft is renowned. Its short-field performance unlocks more city pairs than other similar and even smallersized jets can reach, including Dubai to Houston, London to Perth, and Singapore to Los Angeles. The 4th generation

Smooth Flĕx Wing delivers a signature smooth ride. The aircraft is designed through a sustainable lens, reflecting both the company’s and a growing number of its customers' priorities. The meticulously crafted features of the Global 7500 business jet are echoed in the interior design, but the Global 8000 aircraft goes further. The healthiest cabin in the industry features Bombardier’s Pũr Air and advanced HEPA filter technology for the cleanest and fastest fresh air replacement. At 41,000 ft., the cabin altitude is 2,900 ft., making it the lowest cabin altitude in the industry. The next-generation fly-by-wire technology, the Bombardier Vision flight deck blends cutting-edge avionics with exceptional ergonomics and aesthetics for remarkable comfort and control for the crew. Current Global 7500 owners and operators can also enjoy the enviable Global 8000 experience as the performance improvements will be available as a retrofit for existing Global 7500 aircraft customers.

CARBON OFFSETTING PROGRAMS
THE GLOSSARY OF BUSINESS AVIATION SUSTAINABILITY
CARBON FOOTPRINT ASSESSMENT A Sustainability program requires first a solid assessment of operations’ carbon footprint. To maximize integrity total gallons of fuel used each month should be privileged vs simply using aircraft flown hours
SUSTAINABLE AVIATION FUEL (SAF) Sustainable Aviation Fuel – SAF - is any next-generation aviation fuel, made from 100% renewable waste and residue raw 51 | ELITE WINGS MAGAZINE materials, like used cooking oil. SAF highly reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to fossil jet fuel and can be used as a direct replacement (drop-in) for fossil jet fuel as it is chemically similar. It is fully SAF compatible with existing jet engines and fueling infrastructure, requiring zero additional investment into them. SAF has the potential to reduce net CO2 lifecycle emissions by more than 75% compared to conventional jet fuel The current issue with SAF is the limited availability and logistical challenges that can be solved through Book & Claim solutions as they effectively transfer sustainability claims to final customers.
Offsets are generated through carbon credits from projects that reduce or avoid carbon emissions, such as reforestation projects and renewable energy initiatives. Project examples include helping make the transition from fossil-based power generation to renewable sources and projects like the protection of existing forests.
AIRCRAFT EFFICIENCY Newer generation more efficient jets can bring a large contribution to reducing Carbon and Non-Carbon emissions together with the reduction in the noise footprint. Over time the improvement rate in Business Jet Engines specific fuel consumption (SFC) was roughly 1% per year.
ELCTRIFICATION & HYDROGEN Sustainable Aviation Fuels play a major role in the decarbonization of aviation, especially when it comes to long-range missions. Air Transport electrification (eg eVTOLs, eCommuter) or hydrogen will contribute at a shorter range Electrical power and propulsion systems will lead the way for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), enabling silent short and vertical take-off and landing capabilities while lowering emissions and reducing fuel consumption.

CONNECTIVITY QUICK GUIDE
52 | ELITE WINGS MAGAZINE
THE CONNECTIVITY ECOSYSTEM NETWORKS Business aviation connectivity relies on the availability of communication networks covering the geographic area of operation. There are two types of networks used in aviation: ▪ Satellites-based networks (SATCOM) ▪ Ground stations-based networks called Air-ToGround (ATG).
AIRCRAFT HARDWARE A large offering of cabin connectivity hardware is available in the market for either line-fit installation by the aircraft manufacturer or as a retrofit by MRO centers. The hardware can be divided into three main sub-systems, the antenna system including the radome and steering electronics, the avionics transceivers allowing for data reception and transmission to the antenna, and the cabin subsystem allowing for laptops, tablets, and smartphones to connect to the cabin network

Cabin Connectivity installation is available from either the aircraft manufacturer for installation prior to aircraft delivery (Line-fit) or from a network of sales and installation providers in the after-market (Retrofit). These installation centers develop and install aircraft connectivity hardware through Supplemental Type Certificate (STC). In opposition to the Line-fit market where the offering is very limited by the aircraft manufacturer, the retrofit market offers a large choice of solutions and should be considered even for newly delivered aircraft.
SEVICE PROVIDERS Most communication networks rely on business aviation dedicated service providers. These service providers offer tailored plans typically on a monthly subscription basis, as well as 24/7 technical support, billing, and value-added services to help manage usage and optimize bandwidth. These added-value services usually include WIFI Call and text apps, Acceleration and compression technology, Ground to Air Call service.

LIGHT MTOW < 7,000 lbs With their large mission versatility and efficiency, Light helicopters are the most popular helicopters in the civil market. The Light category is divided into two sub-categories: single and Twin-engine. The primary differences between single and twin-engine helicopters lie in their power and speed capabilities. Twinengine helicopters provide greater overall power and speed when compared to their single-engine counterparts. The engine redundancy is especially valuable when flying over water, densely populated areas, or inhospitable terrains.
INTERMEDIATE 7,000 lbs < MTOW < 10,000 lbs The Intermediate category combines light helicopter versatility with increased cabin size and range capabilities making them perfect for a large number of missions ranging from Emergency Medical Services to Search & Rescue and offshore operations.
MEDIUM & SUPER-MEDIUM 10,000 lbs < MTOW < 20,000 lbs Developed primarily to support the offshore oil and gas industry, the Medium and Super-Medium category helicopters have proven very popular in corporate transportation applications as their large and unobstructed cabins can embody the hallmarks of elegance, style, and sophistication. These helicopters can often be equipped with state-of-the-art telecommunications and entertainment systems, dedicated workspaces, and refreshment and stowage areas.
HEAVY 20,000 lbs < MTOW Designed primarily for the long-range offshore oil and gas market, Heavy helicopters are very popular on the VVIP market for government officials and heads of state transportation.
