Opening Hymn O Lord my God! when I in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds thy hands have made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy pow’r throughout the universe displayed, Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to thee; How great thou art, how great thou art! Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to thee; How great thou art, how great thou art! When through the woods and forest glades I wander And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;

Rev. Morna Christmas-Frazer How Great Thou Art

When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze; And when I think that God, his Son not sparing, Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in; That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin. When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration And there proclaim, my God, how great thou art!

Scripture Reading – Psalm 23

Darlene Parsons

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art

4

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Scripture Reading – Isaiah 25: 6-9

Joy Francis-Penn

6 And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it.

7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.

9 And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

8 He will swallow up death in victory; and Scripture Reading – 1 Corinthians 15: 50-58

Lena Thomas-Mongra

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on

57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Gospel Reading - John 14:1-6, 27 14 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Apostles Creed

Congregation I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Amazing Grace

Hymn Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found Was blind, but now I see. ‘Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear, And Grace my fears relieved. How precious did that Grace appear The hour I first believed. Through many dangers, toils, and snaresI have already come .’Tis Grace hath brought me safe thus far

And Grace will lead me home. The Lord has promised good to me. His Word my hope secures. He will my shield and portion be As long as life endures. When we’ve been there ten thousand years Bright shining as the sun, We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise Than when we’d first begun

Sweeping Through the Gates

Who, who are these beside the chilly wave, Just on the borders of the silent grave, Shouting Jesu’s power to save, “Washed in the blood of the Lamb”? “Sweeping through the gates” of the new Jerusalem, “Washed in the blood of the Lamb,” “Sweeping through the gates” of the new Jerusalem, “Washed in the blood of the Lamb.” These, these are they who, in their youthful days, Found Jesus early, and in wisdom’s ways Proved the fullness of His grace,

“Washed in the blood of the Lamb.” These, these are they who, in affliction’s woes, Ever have found in Jesus calm repose, Such as from a pure heart flows, “Washed in the blood of the Lamb.” These, these are they who, in the conflict dire, Boldly have stood amid the hottest fire; Jesus now says, “come up higher,” “Washed in the blood of the Lamb.” Safe, safe upon the ever shining shore, Sin, pain, and death, and sorrow are all o’er; Happy now and evermore, “Washed in the blood of the Lamb.”

Eulogy

Our beloved Walter Crandall was born on December 1st, 1928 to Florence Todman and Charles Crandall. He was the first-born of both parents and had two other siblings by his father, Bernice and Maria, and then seven siblings by his mother, Granville, Sylvia (deceased), Iona, Frank (deceased), Rudel, Yvette and Brendalee. Walter grew up in Johnny Ghut and began his formal education at the Cane Garden Bay Methodist church. However he was unable to complete his studies. His mother said that she could no longer afford to support him and send him to school and he would to find employment and assist her with providing for his other siblings. Walter said he cried when his mother told him this, but being the eldest child, he realized and accepted the responsibility. Then, in 1942, at the age of 14, his mother Florence decided to send him to St Thomas to seek employment. She paid Captain Raffie Callwood $5.00 to take him into St Thomas on his father’s boat, the Dixie. Of course, he had no documentation so Captain Raffie Callwood took him in “through the window”. For this inaugural trip, his Aunt Hilda Dawson’s husband, Emile, made him a brand new “pantalone” and his mother made him a shirt using the bag from the Very Best flour. Walter recalls being very seasick and weak on that boat ride to St Thomas. As fate would have it, the Immigration Department eventually got word of his illegal entry and employment and he was subsequently deported back to Tortola. That did not deter him. He still continued to travel to St. Thomas and ultimately got his papers and was able to live and work legally. In 1960, after a three-year courtship, Walter married Mavis Leonard of Johnny Hill. This union produced three children, Renelda, Charles and Rosetta. Another son, Christopher, who was just one year older than Renelda, also grew up in the matrimonial home from the tender age of two. Through the years, Walter also introduced his family to two other children, Russell and Butch, whom were excitedly welcomed with open arms. His nephew, Franklin Jones, was also taken into the fold and lived with him for a few years as his very own son. Walter entered the field of construction and worked alongside Owen and Mark Simmonds. Under their guidance he developed his skill as a Mason and took the utmost pride in his work. He worked in construction for many years both in Tortola and in St. Thomas. When he finally

8

returned to Tortola, he constructed the building, CRANDALL’S, where his dear wife Mavis set out to develop and expand her passion for baking and cooking. Shortly thereafter, Crandall’s Pastry Plus was established. After he returned home to Tortola from St. Thomas, Walter hung up his hard hat and donned a cap and a fishing line and set sail to sea. He then began the other chapter of his life as a fisherman. He spoke very fondly of his memories on the ocean with his voyages with the Captain of Ms. Roby going to Anegada on M/V Lady Kate with his friend Wendell Parsons and later his fishing trips with his dearly departed friend, Rupert Herbert. He was an excellent fisherman and knew his craft. He would return from his fishing voyages laden with fish, the majority of which was for the family business. He took pride in being able to provide the business with his catch and would also clean and season the fish for his wife to cook in the restaurant. Walter was a dedicated and committed member of the Great Britain Unity Band, which was headed by his grandmother Rosanna Smith. He was not a lead singer but he took pride in driving them around. He looked forward to the Christmas season and serenading with Great Britain. He was always instrumental in getting the band to Road Town early on Christmas morning to participate in the sing out at the Methodist Church. Over the years, many persons were privileged to benefit from the treasure chest of knowledge that Walter had stored up. His memory of the past was immaculate and he would sit down and trace back generations of families, places and events. To sit around him and listen to him tell the tales of his childhood experiences growing up between Johnny Ghut, New Bush and Soldier’s Hill. His many adventures getting the animals to the pasture before he went to school in Cane Garden Bay. His many romantic encounters with various sweethearts both in Tortola and St Thomas. He also recalled fond memories of living in St. Thomas with his Auntie Esme, and working as a bartender and waiter with Jenny Lockhart, playing at his father’s office in West End with his friend Eileen Parsons. His recollection of the names of person and their siblings was indeed remarkable. His stories were hilarious and entertaining. He could sit for hours and just file through his memory bank and dispense troves of history about the life and culture of the BVI past. If you were one of the many that was privileged to sit in on one of those sessions, you would have been blessed and amazed at his wealth of knowledge and recollection.

Wherever Walter went he was the life of the party! His jovial, free spirit, charming personality and good looks led many to love him! He loved life, people, and above all, he had a profound love for his family! He was a stern father (except when it came to Rosie) and very principled in work ethics and fair dealings with others. Honesty, fairness and value for money were important to him. He taught his children to be fair and honest in their dealings with others and to always do and give of your best in everything that you did. He taught his children and anyone around him to not give up easily, to persevere and believe that you can do anything that you put your mind to do. Walter lived a long and good life. He worked hard from a young age and worked for many years, but in his older years he was able to reap the rewards of his labor. He did things how he wanted and when he wanted. He had time to sit around and interact with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He traveled much on family vacations and attended many college graduations in the US. He enjoyed many birthday and Christmas celebrations. Many sailing trips to the other islands and cays of his beloved Virgin Islands. Walter loved his country and his people. He was always delighted in meeting up with friends both old and new. He also loved his Lord and served Him faithfully as a member of The Road Town Methodist Church where he was a member of class number two (2). He attended church regularly and he was never late. He would leave home early and park outside the church and take a nap until it was time for church. He was a faithful member of the Men’s Fellowship and participated in all their activities. These included singing on fourth Sundays and rendering selections at the Men’s Rallies around the island. He enjoyed their trips to the other churches and especially those to St. Thomas. Despite his health challenges, he participated fully. It was only after the Covid pandemic that his attendance dropped off for the obvious reasons. He would say that he didn’t have to be in church to worship God. His last few months on earth were challenging but being true to his convictions and beliefs, he fought to the very end. He went down fighting. He may have lost that battle here on earth, but we believe that he would have heard that “Well done good and faithful servant” when he stood before his Lord. May his soul Rest in Peace.

Cast in Memory

I spent very few moments with Mr. Crandall, moments enjoyed very much and they were enough to feel loved and accepted by him. It’s difficult to see a loved one leave this living world regardless of age, nothing prepares us for this moment. All that remains is to remember him as he was in life and treasure every moment in which we were happy at his side. Those memories will keep him alive forever in my mind and heart! RIP Benita Vialet

Remembering Walter, my father in law, of many talents, but most importantly, the great fisherman that knows his craft. He never used the same technique for all fish. On our fishing trips he made clear before hand what species we will target. Whether it was Bullhine, yellow tail, kingfish or hard-nose, the approach was always to the fish type or kind. On these fishing trips he would share valued lessons. He was that skilled. Walter could issue a decree of the species just by the way it nibbled at the bait on his line. He loved challenging a competition. I learn quickly not to enter a fishing competition with the master at his craft, which always resulted in his catching the most fish. Because he knew my love for fresh fish, letting him know of my arriving from the USA, he would at times surprise me with a nice piece of fish with all the island trimmings not ordered... but prepared by himself. On one occasion, we were supposed to be cooking pigtail and boiled sugar apples together. Observing my little knowledge, he decided to be the chef while I looked on. Truly he made me feel special and no doubt a great privilege. I will miss the many stories and laughters we shared over the years, watching western movies and wresting matches, his favorite tv show and by the way, he knows all the characters by name. Our conversations were at times very complex. He always expressed a challenging spirit on any issue, never leaving you to wonder or guessing his position because he did not hesitate to let it be known. Walter no doubt was a “great giant” but is now resting in a deep sleep and very soon I looked forward to see him again when he is awakened from his sleep according to the promise made by Jesus Christ stated at John 5:28,29. At that time I will be able to confirm his falling to sleep was not on the account of me talking him to death. Liston Molyneaux Son-in-Law

Not enough time: I will say I am happy to have spent these last months with you I can remember that Saturday morning when I heard you in the kitchen moving around. I got up, came out to you and said good morning. You said, “ you want to go on an adventure today” I jumped and said yes, even before you had the chance to say get dressed, I rushed to my room and got ready. I was waiting on the hill excited to go. We crossed the street and you said. “ Listen I have 3 rules: 1. Anything coming from your stomach put it in the water. 2. Don’t go bawling to go back home. 3. Not too much talking”. Once the three rules were established then I got my instructions on how to fish . I noticed that every time I dropped my line a fish came up, you were so excited for me. After you would say ,now we need to start cleaning our ketch to head home. This is where I got the love for fishing. You never sent me back to St. Thomas without fish or shark in my bag. We had some conversations that I will treasure. Coming up to Tortola to spend weekends, holidays with you cannot be replaced. I enjoyed helping you prep items for the shop: cutting up onions and sweet pepper, boiling lobster, cleaning conchs, cracking coconut and processing them. I looked forward to doing these things while listening to your childhood stories. Sitting under that tree and hanging out , quenching our throat with (them) cold beverages will be missed. These last months every opportunity I had I made sure they were spent with you. Thank you for being there for me, Tiffani and King Charles (as you call him). Rest in Eternal Peace. Love Always your baby girl Lorrie

REMEMBERING COUSIN WALTER I have known Cousin Walter all my life. As a young girl who loves children, I always frequented the home of his mom, Aunt Florence. She always had grand babies around. I was glad to help her with them. I would be there often when he came to visit. He was a good-natured friendly soul who told many funny stories. He would have everyone in a great mood by the time he was ready to leave. He loved family and he would not go back to town without visiting Uncle Zander and his family. Again you would be treated to many humorous stories before he departed for town. I admired his devotion to his family and his diligent attention to the things of God. To his children and the rest of the family on behalf of my family I extend sincerest condolences to all of you. You can be comforted in the knowledge that he had a long happy life. He loved you and he loved and served his God. This God promises you His comfort as you turn to Him. I encourage you all to get to know his God so that one day you will meet around God’s throne. May his soul rest in peace. Lovingly, Sylvia & Edwin Adams & Family.

My Brother Walter was the comedian of the family. There was never a dull moment when he was around. Even from his hospital bed he had us laughing. We will surely miss his jovial spirit and the fun times we used to have. Sleep in peace my dear brother, until we meet again around God’s throne. From Rudel Parsons and Family Thank you for being around from my youth, onward to my adult life. I’ve learnt a lot and gained a lot. Our relationship was different from most, but your love for your grands remained the same. You were rough but it filled with love towards us. Always would be the toughest man that was apart of my life. Thank you for always being there. Always and forever until we link up again. Akhi To Grandpa: We will always remember that special smile, that caring heart, and that warm embrace. Everytime we will come to see you, you was always there for us. You being there for us through good times no matter what. We’ll always remember you Grandpa, because there will never be another one to replace you in our hearts, and the love we will always have for you. Since you left us, words can’t express how I feel. I can’t wait for the day for us to see you again. See you later until that time. Love, Val A’saiya and Ziia

So long Uncle Walter, You have lived for 94 years here with us, and it is time to take another voyage, and we will miss your jokey spirit dearly.. You have shared with us joy, fun, and laughter for many years, no one leaves your presence without a bellyful of laughter. Auntie Bren and I visited you on my last trip home, and we walked away with delicious gifts and a bellyful of laughter. I am glad I took the time to visit our Clan Leaders and spend some time with you. Uncle, it is a blessing that memories do not leave like people. You will be missed, so no more coconut dumb bread and oatmeal porridge, our memories will have to do. Loved you much Uncle Walter, you will be missed. As you often say when we meet “This Carmen fi Ewette” with a big smile..LOL. Blessings!!

On behalf of the Coakley family, we extend our deepest condolences to our loved ones, the Crandall family. Walter will always be remembered for his candid humor, hearty laughter, and signature white beard. Though no words can heal the pain of loss, the family will find peace in the cherished memories. Rest in heavenly peace, Walter. The Coakley Family Berenice, Herby, Calbert and Wilbert As a little girl I can always remember you lending a hand wherever you can and always giving away the fruits of your labour - this is how you loved. Shark balls from fishing, pineapples reserved just for me from your garden. Grating coconut, sweet potato, seasoning and carrot, shelling peas, and cleaning fish for Mommy & Crandall’s. As I grew up and you grew older, you were one of the funniest persons I know. You always had a story to tell, something fast to say and I loved mocking you. When my hair was orange, one afternoon you stopped me, “why you do that to your hair? I don’t like it”. It’s red now - your color and I hope yuh like it buddy. You wanted to see me become a captain and I know you will be looking on to see it happen and watching over my voyages. The little rhyme you told me has been stuck in my head and makes me giggle every-time: The captain was a duck, with a parcel on his back When the ship started to move, he said “quack, quack, quack”. I hope to grow as wise, funny and full of life as you were. I love and miss you. Rosie “Big Pretty Girl” & Your Captain forever, Jonese Grandpa, better known as Daddy, It was good to be your friend and to take care of you especially these past few months. There were good times and bad times but the God of all mercies brought you through it all. You were always helpful and kind to everyone including my family. Thank you for caring and I will never forget the years we spent. May the God of Grace welcome you home with open arms. Peace and Love. Faith is a virtue. Rest in peace . Love Always Adalia In fond remembrance of our beloved grandfather, a beacon of love and wisdom in our lives. His passion for fishing was surpassed only by the depth of his love for family. With every cast and ripple on the water, he taught us patience, resilience, and the beauty of finding peace in nature. May his spirit live on in the stories we tell and the love we continue to share. Gone fishing in a realm of eternal tranquillity. Rest in peace, dear Grandpa. Love Tisha and family.

I have known Grandpa Crandall all my life. My siblings and I grew up in his household at Fisher’s Lane in the 70’s and early 80’s. I recall many fond memories of my life in the Crandall household both in Fisher’s Lane and Estate Thomas, in St. Thomas, USVI. I remember clearly days sitting on the house step calling out to Antilles Seaplane as it landed in Road Harbour and Grandpa Walter telling me to stop the noise; Grandpa picking up his children and I for lunch and after school at the roundabout in Road Town and we better not had him waiting. I remember many conversations where he would recall his relationships with my grandmother Ilva Simmonds (who was his aunt), my father-in-law and mother-in law Irad and Rosemond Maduro like it was yesterday. You can basically say my siblings and I were his oldest grandchildren. As I reminisce on our last in person conversation in August, he told he wouldn’t be there when I returned back to Tortola for Christmas. Being the naïve person, I am I refused to accept what he was saying. Though it would be sad to not hear his life stories anymore we must be thankful for the ninety-four years he was able to share with each one of us in a special way. On behalf of my siblings Elaine, Alston and I, my husband Chappy and our four children Reba, Machino, Malik and Maliika I extend heartfelt sympathy to our dear family members on Grandpa Walter’s passing. The Bible states in the book of Revelation 21:4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” We can be reassured by these words. Francine, Chappy, Reba, Machino, Malik, and Maliika Maduro

The night on October 25 was tough. I got the dreaded news that my dear daddy had fallen asleep in death. I was expecting it to happen but I was hoping I could make it back home in time to give him and receive one last hug. But I knew he was tired. He held on as long as he could. When I spoke to him on the Monday before his passing, he said, “Nel, how far are you?” I said “two days.” He paused and said. “I want to give you a hug so I will wait for you.” He told me he loved me in a breathless voice and I felt its power. His death has caused me much grief and sadness, especially because I didn’t get that last hug that he promised me. But I look forward to the promises that my heavenly father Jehovah has promised. He promised to bring billions of people back to life to enjoy life forever. He will resurrect them! The Bible promises: “There is going to be a resurrection.” (Acts 24:15). Jesus will soon resurrect billions to enjoy life forever on a paradise earth. He said that “all those in the memorial tombs”—even those who may seem to be forgotten but are in God’s memory— will be resurrected.—John 5:28, 29. I am comforted by these words. So all of you who were very close to him who are grieving and are saddened by his passing, be comforted by these promises. And be assured that the day will come when Jehovah will “wipe out every tear from [our] eyes”!—Rev. 21:4. Neloz The love child.

Memories from the First Grand by Kimberly Carey-Ivy What an honor and privilege it is to carry the many memories of my one and only beloved Grandfather in my heart. To be the first grandchild he held in his arms and told, “I love you” is the greatest gift I could have asked for. After loosing my father, Grandpa filled the void I held in my heart for a little girl who looks up to her father and longed to be “Daddy’s little girl”. I remember him going fishing on the vessel he called “Kimberly” and the time he came back with a shark asking Grandma, “Mavis, what you got to eat?” As you cleaned the fish. I remember him sitting on the porch, shelling peas, grating coconut and peeling buckets of onions with no tears. He always made sure I had a few bottles of his vinegar pepper to take back to the States with me. I remember him climbing coconut and mango trees up until he was 93. We couldn’t keep him out the trees. He had the sweetest pineapples growing in the yard, so sweet you could eat the core. There were sugar apples & passion fruit too. I remember the many goats that have been slaughtered for “Goat Water” during the festival season, I could never bring myself to eat mutton, I still hear the cries of the goats echoing in my thoughts. I remember the radio always playing on ZBVI and his TV playing in “black and white” I remember how he liked to tell stories, oh how we loved his stories. 1928, imagine all the stories a person created from that time until now. He walked, rode horses and donkeys and drove a car all in his lifetime. I remember the story he told me about when he told Grandma he couldn’t marry her because he didn’t have no where to put her. So he built her a house with his bare hands. The first house I came home to, the first place I called, “Home” I remember his Snow White beard, the ONLY facial accessory I’ve known him to wear. During this holiday season, we called him our real life Santa Claus, except he didn’t sport that big ole gut. I remember our final goodbye. He said, I love you, take care of yourself and take care of Dizzy, make sure she knows I love her. Then he gave me a hug, a squeeze and one final kiss. With that my heart was at peace even when I asked, will you still be around when I get back and he said, “I will try, but I can’t make any promises.” I accepted, in that moment, that that would be the last time I would see my Grandpa amongst the living. He will forever live on in my heart, mind, soul and spirit. I will leave you with the last words of advice that he gave me, “Can’t should NEVER be in your vocabulary, if you don’t want to do that something then don’t, because you can do whatever you want”

A life well-lived, forever cherished. Today we honor Grandpa, who blessed our lives with memorable moments. Our fondest memories encompass conversations about his journey through life from smuggling to St Thomas in a coal boat to trying to catch fish while we throwing up on the side of the boat and then the fish starting to finally bite, teaching AJ how to piss behind a tree (lol) to having deep conversations on the porch about family and life in general. Grandpas amazing 94-year journey inspires us. His gentle guidance taught us to appreciate each moment and find solace in nature’s embrace. I will be forever grateful for all the lessons grandpa taught me especially to be my true authentic self. I’m even more grateful that my wife and kids were also able to spend time with and meet the legendary grandpa! I will never take anything he said for granted. His legacy lives on, empowering us to face life’s challenges with unwavering resilience. As we bid farewell, his spirit remains eternally alive in our treasured memories. Rest in peace, Grandpa You’ve left an enduring legacy of love, wisdom, and cherished moments that will continue to guide us. With deepest sympathies, Ashawn Charles Walter Crandall

Dearest Walter, May you rest in eternal peace and power. You will be greatly missed. Your step daughter, Monica

In life it’s so hard to say good bye or farewell to the one that we love and care about. I want to give my Sincere Condolences to the Family of Uncle Walter. I will truly miss your presence. It’s so hard right now I can’t even think about what to say but I can say this that I love you and always will. So until next time Uncle Walter safe travels on your transition. In Loving Memory of My dear Grandpa Walter It is hard to put into words the impact that you have had on our lives. Your memory lives on in the lessons you’ve taught us, your stories of the past, your laughter and love you generously shared. You may be gone from our sight but you’ll never be gone from our hearts. Rest In Peace Tiffani

We fondly remember the highlights of the holidays when Uncle Walter and Aunt Mavis arrived in Ballast Bay bringing goodies. Uncle Walter had a very jovial personality and shared old jokes that made us laugh until we cried. He also loved to sing and was a proud chauffeur for the Great Britain Band of carolers, led by his grandmother, the late Rosanna Smith. We thank God for him and the way in which he assisted Rosie, as an avid fisherman, with his passion and hard work to ensure that the legacy of Crandall’s Pastry Plus continued. His love for his family, both immediate and extended, will always be remembered. To our cousins, we pray that God will strengthen and comfort you during this difficult period of loss. Rest in peace Uncle Walter, until we meet again. The descendants of the late Ivan and Christiana (Shanna) Dawson

Sound the battle cry! See, the foe is nigh; Raise the standard high For the Lord; Gird your armor on, Stand firm, everyone; Rest your cause upon His holy Word.

O Thou God of all, Hear us when we call, Help us one and all By Thy grace; When the battle’s done, And the victory’s won, May we wear the crown Before Thy face.

My Brother, you were also my dear Friend. I thank God for your long and fruitful life on earth and the kindness you showed me and my family. Just this past February on my birthday, you visited me and we sang our Great Britain Unity Band Christmas hymns together. I will cherish this memory forever. I am eternally grateful for your steadfast and dedicated service to the Band; such a faithful member over the many decades! I recall that sometimes it was only you and I, but you never wavered, always came through. I know that there is a place for you in God’s Heavenly choir. Oh, how we love you, my Brother, but God loves you more. Sing on!! Your Sister Iona & Family and The Great Britain Unity Band

When great men die, It’s like a shady tree in the forest; the air around us becomes light, rare, sterile. We breathe, briefly. Our eyes briefly, see with a hurtful clarity. Our memory, suddenly sharpened, examines, Chew on kind words unsaid, promised walks never taken. I was fortunate. Like a shady tree, daddy will be missed. The stories he told, jokes and laughter, would forever remain with me. Daddy taught me many lessons of life. Those lessons molded me to be the man I am today. Though his ways of teaching may have been tough at times, as I grew into manhood, I understood more and more what he meant. Words can’t express how much he will be missed. May He Rest In Peace. Charles (Charlesz)

A Loving Cousin in Heaven As the sun sets upon your life And your body is laid to rest We know you will be up in Heaven Because God only takes the best We know you are watching over us And it takes away the pain We will carry you in our hearts Until we meet again Our world is a little darker Now that we’re apart You touched the lives of those you loved And we wanted you to stay But you were needed up in Heaven And God whispered “Come this way” We know whenever we’re lonely And our smiles become frowns We’ll look up to the sky above And there’ll be an Angel looking down.. I found a grandfather in you from the time I met you nine years ago as I became an employee at Crandall’s. The more times we met the more our encounters became ones to look forward to. Grandpa, you were the historian and I was the student who was always willing to listen and learn. At almost every encounter you reminded me of your earlier years of when and where you first tiled a floor. You were excited to let me know that your first tiling effort was at Treasure Isle. But I enjoyed even more, how lustily you recalled the story of how you met your wife whom you referred to as a sweet soul. I also got rich history lessons of your life in St. Thomas. You recounted your life with much joy and passion. Every encounter was one filled with laughter. I knew how much you valued our relationship especially during mango season. You made sure that you brought me my share of mangoes every afternoon and I saw the joy in your eyes every time you handed me my parcel of mangoes that I enjoyed with my family. Grandpa you meant so much to me and I know with you gone it will never be the same. I find comfort knowing that I was able to say my final goodbye at the hospital. Sleep peacefully, Grandpa. Sandy Walt, I will miss our laughs greatly but I know that I will see you in the resurrection. Always love you Cinty.

Grandpa, Words can’t express how I feel, but it can say how grateful I was to be able to call you grandpa. Your last words to me was “ be good till I get better” you always say don’t talk all so here is where I say, might be gone but not forgotten. Miss you. Sleep In Eternal Peace Claudia

Grandpa may your soul rest in Peace. I will miss your talks of history of the BVI , your jokes and old phrases, but most of all your smile. Denise Grant

A thousand years wouldn't be long enough to learn all the lessons and wisdom you had to share. Thank you for being unapologetically YOU. Your legacy is a life well-lived and a family that was blessed to have a patriarch like you. Rest in eternal peace and power Grandpa Walter. Your presence will forever be missed. Love Kevin, Vanessa and Adonis.

Grandpa Walter, In your life's journey, I was fortunate to observe someone who is hard-working, kind, and a true example of a servant leader to the family. I remember myself as a young boy watching you and grandma create a business from a vision and now manifested into a family legacy that embodies tradition, perseverance, grit, and most importantly love. From reflection, even now as a man, I recognize the principles and characteristics that you exhibited as the patriarch of the family being applied in my own life. Some of the elements I actively exhibit as a husband and father to my children I owe to observing you in action. And now that you are at rest with grandma, I hope you stay as active, joyful and at peace as you always are. I appreciate you and until we meet again PS- Please don’t continue to climb the coconut trees in heaven, please go sit down somewhere :) Lucien

Where do I begin? To the most strongest and willing person I’ve ever met, Grandpa. Grandpa you will be missed. Thanks for all the knowledge that you gave me. I will definitely miss laying in your bed listening to all those stories(lol). I’m happy that I got to enjoy the last moments with you. I must say you did well and your legacy will live on. I’m not going to say Goodbye but see you on the other side. The family’s personal Santa. Love alone Seanelle “Nellie” Jones & Children (J’Sean, J’Seanna & Ke’Seanna)

Dearest Uncle Walter, I am truly saddened by your passing but take comfort in knowing that you lived a good, long life. You made me laugh. We even had this private joke between us when we met. Because that wasn’t too frequent, you would always ask, “who it is”? and I would respond “who it is? Tis Lorrily for Iona, and you would say, “yea, I know you”. Many things stood out about you, Uncle. Your love for family was one of them. I saw the way you interacted with your sister Iona, my mother. On your last day at the hospital, you asked me to deliver a message to her and you also told me you loved me. You are gone Uncle, but you’ll never be forgotten! Rest in eternal peace. Who it is? Your Niece, Lorrily, for Iona

Pa, It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we bid farewell to a remarkable father figure, mentor, and provider. I will forever cherish the memory of the first job opportunity you provided me in brandywine. It was through your unwavering support and belief in my abilities that I gained the confidence to embark on my journey. You saw potential in me when others doubted, and for that, I will be eternally grateful. You were always there, offering guidance, wisdom, and a listening ear. Your presence in my life was a constant reminder that I was never alone, and your words of encouragement pushed me to strive. Your legacy will continue to inspire me as I navigate the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead. Pa, you will be deeply missed, but your memory will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives you touched. Thank you for being the incredible father figure that you were. May your soul rest in eternal peace. Franklin”lil Fla” Jones

When I started traveling to MSSU in Missouri for college, he would tell me the same thing. 7 times to be exact, “ I going wait on you to finish school”, “you goin meet me here when you get back”. You did in fact wait for me to finish school and I did meet you there when I got back. I started my business, you didn’t asked what I did at work. But you would always ask how’s business. My sisters claim I’m your favorite because I’m “white”. so Grandpa this book is my tribute to you, Designed in Red your favorite color, showcasing your voyage here on earth, Send me some big fish! Hymns At Graveside Leaning on the Everlasting Arms

What a fellowship, what a joy divine, Leaning on the everlasting arms; What a blessedness, what a peace is mine, Leaning on the everlasting arms.

O how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way, Leaning on the everlasting arms; O how bright the path grows from day to day, Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Leaning, leaning, Safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, Leaning on the everlasting arms.

What have I to dread, what have I to fear, Leaning on the everlasting arms? I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, Leaning on the everlasting arms.

When We All Get to Heaven Sing the wondrous love of Jesus Sing His mercy and His grace; In the mansions bright and blessed, He’ll prepare for us a place.

While we walk the pilgrim pathway Clouds will overspread the sky; But when travelling days are over, Not a shadow, not a sigh.

When we all get to Heaven What a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all see Jesus We’ll sing and shout the victory.

Onward to the prize before us! Soon His beauty we behold; Soon the pearly gates will open, We shall tread the streets of gold.

Pass Me Not O Gentle Savior Pass me not, O gentle Savior, Hear my humble cry, While on others Thou art calling, Do not pass me by. Savior, Savior, Hear my humble cry; While on others Thou art calling, Do not pass me by. Let me at a throne of mercy Find a sweet relief; Kneeling there in deep contrition, Help my unbelief.

Trusting only in Thy merit, Would I seek Thy face; Heal my wounded, broken spirit, Save me by Thy grace. Thou the Spring of all my comfort, More than life to me, Whom have I on earth beside Thee? Whom in heav’n but Thee?

What a Friend We have in Jesus What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer! Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged: Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find a friend so faithful, Who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness: Take it to the Lord in prayer. Are we weak and heavy-laden, Cumbered with a load of care? Precious Saviour still our refuge: Take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer; In His arms He’ll take and shield thee, Thou wilt find a solace there.

Nearer my God to Thee Nearer, my God to Thee! Nearer to Thee! E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me, Still all my song shall beNearer, my God to Thee! Nearer to Thee. Though, like the wanderer, the sun gone down, Darkness be over me, my rest a stone, Yet in my dreams I’d be Nearer, my God to Thee! Nearer to Thee! There let the way appear steps unto heav’n; All that thou sendest me in mercy given; Angels to beckon me

Nearer, my God to Thee! Nearer to Thee! Then with my waking thoughts bright with Thy praise, Out of my stony griefs Bethel I’ll raise: So by my woes to be Nearer, my God to Thee! Nearer to Thee! Or if on joyful wing cleaving the sky, Sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I fly, Still all my song shall beNearer, my God to Thee! Nearer to Thee!

God Be with you Till we Meet Again God be with you till we meet again; Loving counsels guide, uphold you, May the Shepherd’s care enfold you; God be with you till we meet again. Till we meet, till we meet, Till we meet at Jesus’ feet. Till we meet, till we meet, God be with you till we meet again. God be with you till we meet again; Unseen wings, protecting, hide you,

26

Daily manna still provide you; God be with you till we meet again. God be with you till we meet again; When life’s perils thick confound you, Put unfailing arms around you; God be with you till we meet again. God be with you till we meet again; Keep love’s banner floating o’er you, Death’s threat’ning wave before you; God be with you till we meet again.

When the Roll is Call up Yonder When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound and time shall be no more, And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair; When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore, And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there. When the roll is called up yonder, When the roll is called up yonder, When the roll is called up yonder, When the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise, And the glory of his resurrection share; When his chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies, And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there. Let us labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun; Let us talk of all his wondrous love and care. Then when all of life is over and our work on earth is done, And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.

Blessed Assurance Blessed assurance Jesus is mine Oh what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

Perfect submission, perfect delight, Visions of rapture burst on my sight Angels descending, bring from above Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Saviour all the day long. This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Saviour all the day long.

Perfect submission, all is at rest I in my Saviour am happy and bless’d, Watching and waiting, looking above Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

Shall We Gather at the River

Shall we gather at the river, where bright angel feet have trod; With its crystal tide for ever, flowing by the throne of God? Yes, we’ll gather at the river, the beautiful, the beautiful river, Gather with the saints at the river that flows by the throne of God. On the bosom of the river, where the Saviour, King we own, We shall meet, and sorrow never, ‘neath the glory of the throne.

Ere we reach the shining river lay we ev’ry burden down, Grace our spirits will deliver, and provide a robe and crown. Soon we’ll reach the shining river, soon our pilgrimage will cease; Soon our happy hearts will quiver, with the melody of peace.
