PRESIDENT’S QUARTERS THE LADY

Inspired by the story of Clermont Monty Lee, the first registered female landscape architect in Georgia and the visionary behind the historic restoration of the gardens at the Thomas Owens House. The lady is the embodiment of the new southern woman. Strong-willed, independent, feminine, kind, the perfect hostess, and unafraid to speak her mind, she exists as the ideal of what a woman from the South should be. Her home is a sun-filled celebration of her position as the head of the garden society and a dedication to her many interests. Guests will enter through the sun room, a plant filled, light, and bright space. Guests of the hotel will be welcomed to explore the various rooms of her home and learn a little more about this character through multiple visits. A bird room will highlight her knowledge of the local flora and fauna, or a guest could choose to stay in her drawing room that displays her collection of fine art. Guests will leave inspired by their visit to the bright side.

An avid historian and curator of art, literature, and artifacts, the Admiral is more of a representation of the area than any one person. He is the mirror that reflects the beautiful parts of the history of Savannah and helps us to contextualize through the pieces he displays. The admiral’s home is moodier, filled with rich deep tones that serve as back drops for his many maps and artifacts. He is a well-traveled man who has collected many interesting historic pieces. His library, study, trophy room, and curiosity room, will be open to guests interested in learning more about this character. In contrast to the bright sun room from the Lady’s home, guests will be greeted with a smoky cocktail and offered to pull up a distressed leather seat and experience a little of the romance and intrigue of Savannah.
