Donald Bourne, (MD/PhD ‘27) presented at Health Sciences Alumni weekend. His poster “Changes in Medication Utilization and Adherence Associated with Homeless Adults’ Entry into Permanent Supportive Housing,” displayed his School of Public Health Dean’s Day 2022 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion award-winning research into the permanent supportive housing (PSH), an intervention that combines affordable housing with voluntary support services to ad dress chronic homelessness. Bourne’s research aims to un derstand the association between PSH and the utilization/ adherence of medication among Medicaid enrollees The work found that people who participated in PSH programs showed an increased utilization of prescription drugs and improved adherence to anti-depressant medication.
