Naela Shuman, a proud Palestinian woman and owner of, Shuman's Homewood, has dedicated herself to serving communities across Pittsburgh alongside her son Muhammad. She has been in business since 2015, using her work as a way to stay connected to the people around her. Their service has touched countless lives: cooking for victims of the East Hills fire until they were rehoused, preparing meals for grieving families during funerals, and providing food for back-to-school events, holiday celebrations, and community gatherings
This year, they helped prepare one thousand containers of food on Thanksgiving Day and delivered them to high-rise residents and other seniors in need throughout the community
