Banging Denmark program

DIRECTORS NOTE

BANGING DENMARK is more than just a comedy; it’s a mirror to the absurdity of the world we navigate in our quest for connection and love. The play’s humour is a vehicle for deeper conversations about how we relate to one another in an era where digital personas can overshadow our true selves. It challenges us to question the narratives we subscribe to about gender, attraction, and what it means to genuinely connect with someone.

In staging this production, we aimed to bring to life the vibrant, chaotic, and sometimes bizarre world of internet culture, while also grounding the

characters in relatable, human emotions. As you watch “Banging Denmark,” I invite you to laugh, reflect, and perhaps even reconsider the ways in which we pursue love and connection in the digital age. This play is a bold, unapologetic romp through the complexities of contemporary relationships, and I hope it sparks as much joy and thought for you as it has for our cast and crew.

We are excited to include the audience in this production, our final and most important element. Buckle up, we invite you to step into the arena with the actors.

SET & COSTUME DESIGNER HELENA

Banging Denmark’s playful and dynamic battle of the sexes is set on a stage reminiscent of a tennis match.

Watch as the actors serve, lob and drop shot’s between each other.

No need for elaborate set design, these characters bring all the colour and vibrancy to this simple stage design themselves.

35MM: A Musical Exhibition

Music & Lyrics by Ryan

A picture is worth 1,000 words -- what about a song? Can a picture inspire a song or fifteen?

In 35mm, each photo creates a unique song, moments frozen in time; a glimmer of a life unfolding, a glimpse of something happening. This intricately woven collection of stories told through song re-imagines what the modern musical can be.
