Lord of the Flies - Senior School Play
Towards the end of the Spring Term, we welcomed the Pipers Community to the Senior School play; Lord of the Flies Our students delivered a thoughtful and compelling interpretation of Golding’s novel, brought to life by our allfemale cast spanning Years 7 to 12 This cross-year casting added real depth, with shifts in power, vulnerability and authority played out with clarity and purpose.
There was a strong sense of control throughout, with students demonstrating focus and a clear understanding of the play’s underlying psychological tension. Rather than relying on standout moments alone, it was the strength of the ensemble that truly carried the piece, allowing the group dynamic to shape the narrative in a cohesive and engaging way.
Lighting and transitions (overseen by the Students) were a particular highlight; carefully considered,and enhancing the atmosphere without ever overwhelming the action Overall, it was a mature and ambitious production that trusted both its cast and its source material, resulting in a powerful piece of theatre that highlighted the talent and collaboration across the Senior School

Our Pre-Prep students planned and led a Whole-School assembly inspired by ‘Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World’ by Kate Pankhurst
Over this half-term, each student researched a woman who inspired them, exploring her work, the challenges she faced and why her story mattered By stepping into these roles, the children brought those stories in to the present, confidently sharing them with over 700 staff and students, making these wome STEM feel closer and more conne to their own experiences.

Rotary Young Artist Competition Winners
Congratulations to Lucy G and Henrietta P for winning Highly Commended and Junior First Prize respecitively in the Amersham Rotary Young Artist Competition; ‘Happiness in Nature’. A wonderful achievement for them both and we cant wait to see where their artistic talents lead.
Our Year 7 Scholars were busy last term immersing themselves in a wide range of self-chosen, independent projects across Art, Drama, Music, Academia and Sport. Given the freedom to explore areas that genuinely interested them, students took ownership of every stage of the process, from shaping their initial questions to carrying out research and developing their final ideas.
Project topics reflected both curiosity and ambition, ranging from the Psychology of Sport and the History of the West End, to how the NHS has changed over the last 50 years, analysis of the Theatre Industry, and the impact of Music and Art on mental health Each project was entirely student-led, encouraging scholars to think critically, work independently and engage deeply with subjects beyond the classroom curriculum.

Harry Potter Night
In the lead-up to the Easter break, our Year 7 and 8 students stepped into a living storybook at our muchloved Harry Potter–themed evening – now a firm highlight of the School calendar.
With the UK celebrating the National Year of Reading, the event was a wonderful reminder of how stories can leap from the page and spark imagination through immersive experiences.

Cansat 2026
A team of Year 9 and 10 students recently took part in the UK CanSat Competition, a national aerospace challenge that sees students design, build and launch a miniature satellite
After months of preparation, the team successfully launched their CanSat aboard a rocket and analysed live data during its descent
The experience gave students valuable hands-on insight into engineering, teamwork and realworld problem-solving in a professional STEM setting
Sixth Form Heart Dissection Demonstration
Year 6 students showed impressive curiosity and confidence during a recent Science lesson led by our Sixth Form Biology students, who delivered a live heart dissection demonstration
Guided by their Sixth Form peers, students engaged thoughtfully with the anatomy of the heart, asking insightful questions and sharing knowledge beyond their years
The session proved equally inspiring for the Sixth Form, with one student noting that some of the contributions suggested more advanced understanding; an encouraging example of academic curiosity in action
From Concept to Costume: Research‐Led Learning at the V&A
Our Year 11 GCSE Textiles students visited the Victoria and Albert Museum to deepen and extend the conceptual research underpinning their Non-Examination Assessment (NEA). The visit was designed to shift students’ thinking beyond surface inspiration, encouraging them to engage critically with costume and performance as vehicles for meaning, narrative and identity.
Through focused encounters with professional practice and curated collections, students explored how designers respond to creative briefs, translating abstract ideas into material form Attention was given to the ways in which costume communicates character, movement and context, a well as how construction, material choice and embellishment support conceptual intent

To introduce Careers Week, we were pleased to welcome Lucca Bevan, a University College London Neuroscience graduate and World Pay’s youngest Director, to speak to our students about career choices, taking accountability and being proactive

Acclaimed Photo Journalist Returns to Pipers
GCSE students had the privilege of learning from awardwinning photojournalist Rick Findler, whose work has taken him to some of the world’s most challenging conflict zones. His visit offered powerful insights into the role of photography in telling untold stories and bearing witness with courage and compassion.
Students gained a deeper understanding of the resilience and integrity required in frontline journalism, and how storytelling can shape global perspectives.

Year 10 Prep Mentors lead Assembly
Our Year 10 mentors introduced themselves in Assembly, launching a student-led initiative to support Prep students during break times
By offering guidance, encouragement and a friendly presence, they are helping to foster a culture of connection and wellbeing across the School
This mentoring scheme not only supports younger students in building confidence and belonging, but also gives our older students the opportunity to grow as leaders and role models

Year 13 Textiles Eco Printing Workshop
It was great to see our Year 13 Textiles students have an Eco printing workshop with our fantastic Technician, resident Eco printing and natural dye expert, Mrs Ramsay.
The students mixed Chemistry with Textiles and created chemical reactions to create colour, texture and pattern. Using natural solutions like Aluminium Sulphate, Ferrous Sulphate (Iron) and Gall Nut (found on Oak trees), they dipped fabrics to combine them in a variety of ways Adding resists shapes made from masking tape and sticky back plastic, as well as leaves treated with Madder, Onion skins and Log wood, which all create different colours when steamed
They will use these samples as preparation for their Externally Set Task projects, building towards their A Level exam in May Fantastic work!

West End Vocal Coach Returns for Senior School Production of Sweeney Todd
Senior School students were delighted to hear the unveiling of the new Senior School production, set to be performed in October 2026.
The performances will mark ten years since the Pipers Arts Centre Theatre first opened its doors, and the production promises to be a fitting celebration of this significant milestone.
We are delighted to welcome back acclaimed West End vocal coach Russell Scott, who will conduct a live orchestra for the performances at the start of the Autumn Term Auditions will begin shortly, and anticipation is already building
Before half-term, Year 6 students gathered in the Arts Centre Theatre, continuing the now-established tradition of the Junior Production announcement
They were treated to a ‘premiere’ of carefully revealed clues, which sent them on a lively trail of guesses about what this year’s show might be.

More netball success to celebrate as Sienna R and Emilia F helped their team Futures Netball Academy secure second place overall in the season. A brilliant achievement and a great reward for their teamwork and commitment

The U14B and U15B Netball teams took part in the Wycombe District Tournament hosted by Great Marlow School. Both teams played brilliantly, winning all but one match across the evening. They responded well to feedback and communicated effectively as a team, finishing second overall.

The U16 Hockey team had a fantastic day at the District Hockey Tournament hosted by Wycombe High They played some excellent hockey throughout and remained unbeaten all day A brilliant team performance.
The U14A and U15A Netball teams competed at the Wycombe District Nebtall Tournament showing great teamwork and determination against local schools. The U14A team went unbeaten across the tournament to finish first overall, while the U15A team secured third place.
Celebrating Community and Environment
Year 10 students have recently launched an inspiring new charity initiative, choosing to support the locally run organisation Lives in Focus During the first half of the Spring Term, students learned about the charity’s vital work and its mission to ensure that every child has access to the essentials they need to thrive Lives in Focus supports children around the world by improving access to basic classroom resources, creating opportunities beyond the classroom, and, crucially, helping to ensure that no child goes hungry
The year group was fortunate to hear directly from the charity’s founder, who visited Pipers to speak about the impact of the organisation’s work and the difference that even small acts of generosity can make. Inspired by the visit, Year 10 students have chosen to champion the charity and share its mission with the wider Senior School community.
As part of this partnership, Pipers is proud to be twinned with Rongoma Primary School in Tanzania. Through this meaningful relationship, students and staff will support Rongoma Primary School by raising much-needed funds, while also learning more about the lives, experiences and education of the students and teachers there Over time, the partnership will allow the Pipers community to see the tangible impact of its fundraising efforts as the relationship develops

Hunger Awareness Day 2026
To mark Hunger Awareness Day, the School simplified its lunch menu for one day, offering a nutritious selection of soup and bread. This small change enabled us to donate £500 worth of food to Wycombe Food Hub.
Thanks to the generosity of one of our food suppliers, the donation was increased to £750 worth of non-perishable items, helping make a meaningful difference locally.

We’re thrilled to share that our Young Enterprise Team Afternoon Seed, won the High Wycombe Area Finals, meaning they’re through to the Regionals on Wednesday 13 May 2026!
The success didn’t stop there; the team also picked up the Area Award for Best Company Report and Marketing and Trade tand, plus several Eden Centre awards, including; Best Marketing;
Runner-up for Corporate Image and Bronze for Sustainability. Achievements that are a real testament to the students’ creativity, teamwork and determination.
Prestwood Nature and HOPE
Where did the money go from our HOPE Fashion Exchange fundraiser last year?
Sam P in Year 7 was able to find out when she joined forces with volunteers from Prestwood Nature at Bougs Meadow where she helped with the planting of a new 20 metre hedgerow, funded entirely from the profits of the HOPE event
This hedgerow will act as an important wildlife corridor, supporting biodiversity for years to come We can't wait to revisit later this year to find out how it's grown!

We are delighted to announce Pipers’ first-ever Dog Show, a relaxed, family-friendly event celebrating the much-loved dogs that are part of our community.
