In the olden days, people lived in harmony with nature and often, the shade of a big old tree provided the space for people to trade their craft, friends to play board games or chat over a cup of coffee. With this in mind, the developers of Tamarind Square (Tujuan Gemilang Sdn Bhd) created an eco- system where creativity in all its forms can thrive. C r e at i v e L a b b y Artscape MY Creative Lab, an art exhibition collaboratively produced by TSQ CommUNITY Fest & Artscape MY will be featuring an array of uniquely curated artworks by 10 local artists. The artists who derive from different cultural backgrounds will be showcasing artworks of different styles and themes ranging from abstract, illustration, doodle and contemporary art that beautifully encapsulates their views on society, perspectives, inspirations and culture. Featured artists include Adeline Shatsala, Dhanika, Hasif Azizan, Jennifer Teh, Jiet Wong, Nimalesh, Riezal, Sanuri Zulkefli, Sarah Salim and Shazlin Jalil.

Creative Lab aims to elevate the local arts scene by celebrating emerging artists regardless of their background and to provide a platform to explore their artistic concepts. Other programmes during the exhibition include doodle workshops, art sharing sessions and live caricature sketch sessions.

- A Duo Travel Photography Exhibition

RETURN TICKET, a Duo Travel Photography Exhibition by Barathan Amuthan and Satish Kumar showcases travel photographs by the talented pair, each with contrasting styles: Barathan’s cleverly framed photos shows his eye for creative composition while Satish’s candid photography shows life as it really is.

Armed with 10 years of experience in the photography industry, Penang-born Barathan Amuthan considers allowing viewers to see through his eyes as his best asset. Carrying the title of Canon EOS Youth Ambassador Malaysia, his numerous accolades also include the PPAM Certification in which he attained the “Advance Photographer” distinction.

Barathan’s evident knack for eternalising moments through stills paved way for his photos to be published by Canon Malaysia, Canon Asia and Canon Philippines on their social media platforms.

Barathan’s shots in Return Ticket visually captures the rich cultural diversity reflected in the country’s architecture, people and their lifestyle. He says, ‘Photography does not only allow me to learn about other cultures, but a big part of the process is also about learning who I truly am.’

Satish is an avid photographer who also moonlights as an actor.

He began his foray into photography as a hobby until his then soon-to-be-wife gifted him her dad’s Canon EOS888 (a film camera) a few years ago - the beginning of his film and experimentation days. In 2017, Satish finally bought a mirrorless digital camera, the Fuji XT-1 which helped him grow and progress exponentially as a photographer, culminating in 2 shows : ‘Real & Reality’ at Chapter One (2016) and the ‘Merdeka Group Show’ at University Malaya (2018).

Return Ticket will showcase curated photographs taken from the places Satish visited including Vietnam, Indonesia and India that reflects his intention to capture the essence of the moment of lives being lived-- a way for him to return to the life he’s lived. As he says, “Every time I return home I have memory cards heavy with data, but my heart is as light as a feather.”

Return Ticket officially opens at 2pm on the 30th of November and will be launched by local Malaysian art patron, collector and aficionado; Dr. Rampal followed by sharing sessions by the participating photographers.

Performing together with her will be little Ginelle Yeong who decided to follow her sister’s footsteps.

Poetry Session & Mime by Mosyuki, Ash, Adam & Jasad Come watch how the literary works of four art activists from different art fields are adapted into a stage performance - Mosyuki Borhan (Poet) & Ash Mime (Mime Artist) on 30th November and Alifdalmim (Poet) & Jasad Bersiong (Poet) on the 1st of December.

Established in 2016, TAPAK is the first food park in Malaysia that brings local food truck owners and Malaysian together to share one common interest – the love for food. Serving a variety of local and international food daily, TAPAK has been partnering with Tamarind Square since January 2019 for the monthly LEPAQ programme that takes place on every last Saturday of the month.
