curious? life drawing 4.30pm - 6pm £5

Don’t miss Harold Offeh performing ‘Covers’, alternative drag performances and a flash costume sale and dress up with ballet LORENT.

A curious? life drawing session suitable for beginners, celebrating the human form in all its diversity. Come along and practice your drawing skills with a nude transgender model. Materials provided.

The Featherstonehaughs, an all male dance company imagined that Fassbinder’s seminal work The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant is a score for choreography, the result is Edits. A poetic documentary of the dance and includes costumes by Sandy Powell and appearances by Club Duckie’s Jay Cloth. If you are attending curious? events at Baltic a curious? guide will be walking to Bamburgh House Festival Hub at 7pm.


curious? live triple bill 7.30pm - 8.30pm 2nd Floor Bamburgh House £7.50 A triple bill of new dance and Live performance ‘Replicas’ An extract of a work in progress Choreographed by Jennifer Essex ‘Replicas’ uses real-life text messages from couples at various stages of their relationships as inspiration for dance duets, each exploring how we communicate in the digital age. Messages are sent to audiences in real time, giving us an inside view of the onstage relationships. To trial this please head to replicasdance.com. Please note this is an extract of a work in progress.

‘Bound’ Created and performed by Lucy Hutson. A show about the slippery nature of identities, the ones you give yourself, the ones forced onto you and the ones which were once strong and now are just clinging onto. More specifically it is a show about breasts, gender using urinals and baring all.

curious? 2016 commission ‘A Blighted Life’ Choreographed and directed by Gavin Coward. A concoction of world dance, raw physicality and fleeting commentary. Three performers explore the contrasting and extreme attitudes towards homosexuality from around the globe, where Queer clashes with cultures. Set to an eclectic soundtrack of joyous orchestral symphonies, obscure alternatives, afro beats, and classic love songs. Followed by a short artist talk

snap like a diva 9pm - 10pm 2nd Floor Bamburgh House £5 The Snap Like a Diva experience is led by artist’s Harold Offeh (aka Divana) and Steve Nice and provides entry to the glamourous world of snapping or clicking. Snapping is the high art form derived from the Black American gay subcultures of the 80s and 90s and consists of series of grand movements that allows participants to communicate and attain grand diva status!!

curious? film screening various times between 7pm & 10.30pm 2nd Floor Bamburgh House FREE ENTRY A chance to see two film works by performance artist, choreographer and queer academic Nando Messias ‘Walking Failure,’ created in collaboration with Sam Williams and ‘Sissy!, a short-film,’ created in collaboration with Judy Jacob.

A 90 minute life drawing session suitable for beginners, celebrating the human form in all its diversity. Come along and practice your drawing skills with a moving model, who will be participating in a solo ballet class. curious? presents ‘over’ curious? is proud to be working with artist Stuart Langley, who creates amazing public art installations and last year launched ‘over’. The installation captures the wonder of a rainbow in a modern sculptural form.
