Robert Louis Ashford II (Bobby), born on August 9, 1971, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Rusteen Ashford, was a man of remarkable character He attended Holy Family Elementary School and Homewood High School, where he not only excelled academically but also was a proud member of the Varsity Swim Team. Bobby’s dedication and hard work led him to win the State Championship title in the breaststroke. His love for swimming began at an early age, and he earned numerous trophies and medals throughout his athletic journey.
After high school, Bobby continued his education at the University of Alabama, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems. During his time at the University, he also became a proud member of the Eta Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and the Mens NCAA Swimming & Diving Team Throughout his career, Bob dedicated himself to excellence in the field of quality assurance He served as a System Analysis at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama and a Quality Analyst at Regions Financial Corporation, BBVA Compass, and Infinity Insurance, and later as a Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer at ProAssurance. His attention to detail and commitment to his work were evident in everything he did, and he left a lasting impact at each organization he was a part of
Bobby was a man of kindness, loyalty, and intelligence, with an incredible aptitude for numbers. He was a loving and devoted father, with his son, Robby, being the light of his life. From the moment Robby showed an interest in sports whether it was basketball, football, or baseball Bobby was right there beside him, offering his unwavering support at every practice and game He was eagerly looking forward to watching Robby play his final season of college football at Wake Forest University.
Bobby’s life and memory will be cherished forever by his loving Mother Rusteen J Ashford, beloved son, Robert (Robby) Logan Ashford, his brother, Dr Robin (Billette) Ashford, bonus daughter, Brandi (Damien) Square, his uncle, Dr. Rowell (Rosemary) Ashford, his nieces, Lauren Ashford, Alexia Patterson, Dr. Mallori Ashford, and Taylor Ashford, as well as a host of cousins, other relatives, fraternity brothers, and friends. His legacy of love, dedication, and warmth will live on in all of them
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing 2 Timothy 4 : 7-8
