This project aims explore the relationship between facade and actual mass.

The wrapping envelope and the physical manipulation of the mass focuses on the interplay of framing and interior space in the act of balancing rather than structural realism. The design derives from a cubic system with "un-leveled" floors and differentiatied programs. Balance and imbalance through physical applications and rotation and tilting of tectonics emphasizes on contrasting visuals and delineates the separation of a rigid exterior and sloped interior strategy.

Connection Systems

CO-SELF is a lab that details the fusion of privacy and sharing and notions of supply and demand. The lab is an almost enclosed space, utilizing abundant connection systems and moving panels which create transitory spaces between public and private. Customer areas are reminders of private spheres blending into the public setting on the lower level, while the upper level, composed of a network of catwalks, is strictly employee access. The warehouses, monolithic columns, stock exaggerated bulk supplies and display the oversupply of used bottles. Situated in a materialized digital world of bulk supplies, the lab closely focuses not only on personal self-care routines in the shared zones but also highlights the over-abundance supplyand yet minor consumption of inventory.

The LONGO competition wishes to consider how the coronavirus pandemic will impact the design and occupation of urbanism within the University of MichiganAnn Arbor campus and the city of Ann Arbor. This project, Argon, focuses on Far-UVC lighting spatial experience that provides students with a safe and healthy outdoor environment during and post-COVID-19. The Argon houses the Vessel (a social pod), the Gateway (a walk-through dry shower), the Hub (a mobile chargning and sanitation) and the App which utilizes Far-UVC lighting to create a safe outdoor environment for students. Incorporating the individual, pairs, or entire system, the Argon can adapt to the demands and services of the specific functions of the space and encourage users to navigate with fluid movement. This system intends to provoke a potential experiential and spatial interest of Far-UVC lighting during and post-COVID-19 pandemic, allowing the reimagination of the public space.

FETCH market was realized through the understanding and reinterpretation of the supermarket typology in response to the global pandemic, COVID-19. The first stages involved a precedent study on Markthal Rotterdam by MVRDV, a new typology that encompassed housing, parking and a market hall. Then, the next analysis was examining closer to the site of a local supermarket, Way 1 Supermarket, located in Plymouth Road Plaza, Ann Arbor. Anlayzing the site context, similar to Markthal Rotterdam, there hosts many activities one can complete within this plaza. However, circulation around this plaza is more serviced for vehicle travel, where one goes about driving from one end to the other. As such, in the conclusion of this study, the site is reimagined to improve the circulation and illustrate more fluid movements between the various shops.

This reimagined space encourages people to be more easily able to engage in different opportunities provided by the services of the community.

The experimentation of different materiality on developed massings explore graphical possibilities such as visual applications or defining programs of space. The material explorations also contribute to the aptitudes of representational devices in the way people move, interact, access, and experience the spaces. The obelisk, a beacon of FETCH market, is a physical signage and representative icon for the market and embraces functionality, which is also reflected in the logo.

FETCH market promotes a FETCH lifestyle where consumers can eat, drink, shop for groceries, and more. FETCH hopes to contribute to the convenience and accessibility to grocery shop and acquire essential items while enjoying other amenities in the space. FETCH market proposes to investigate the hypermarket quality to be able to shop and also enjoy additional amenities.
