Senior Starfish Awards

New this year, the Senior Starfish Award is proudly presented to those teachers, faculty, and staff members whom our graduating seniors have identified as making a lasting difference in their lives.

Once upon a time, there was an old man strolling along the beach. As he walked, he noticed a young boy repeatedly dipping his hands into the sand, picking something up, and throwing it into the sea. Intrigued, the old man approached the boy and inquired, "May I ask what you are doing?"

The young boy responded, "I am throwing starfish into the sea."

Perceiving the old man's curiosity, the boy continued, "You see, the tide is receding. If I don't return these starfish to the ocean, they will die."

The old man furrowed his brow, puzzled. "But, my young friend," he questioned, "don't you realize that this long beach is teeming with starfish? Surely, you cannot make a difference!"

Upon hearing these words, the boy stooped down, plucked another starfish from the sand, and flung it into the sea. A smile spread across his face as he replied, "It made a difference for this one."
