GATHERING IN THE NAME OF THE RISEN CHRIST

PRAYER

OF PREPARATION

Praise be to you, O God of resurrection, for you have defeated the powers of sin and death. In resurrecting Christ Jesus, you displayed your holy power and transformed all of creation. In your steadfast love, you have redeemed us once and for all. Where we once saw pain, scarcity, and despair, we now see wholeness, abundance, and hope. Holy Spirit, inspire us to live as your new creation, working to make things on earth as they are in heaven. Amen.

†PRAYER OF CONFESSION Rev. Seelman

Almighty God, in raising Jesus from the grace, you shattered the power of sin and death. We confess that we remain captive to doubt and fear, bound by the ways that lead to death. We overlook the poor and the hungry and pass by those who mourn; we are deaf to the cries of the oppressed and indifferent to calls for peace; we despise the weak and abuse the earth you made. Forgive us, God of mercy. Help us to trust your power to change our lives and make us new so that we may know the joy of life abundantly given in Jesus Christ, the risen Lord.

† SILENCE FOR PERSONAL CONFESSION † KYRIE

† ASSURANCE OF PARDON

One: Hear the good news of God’s promise: I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved

Many: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God.

RESPONDING TO THE WORD

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

† THE PEACE

One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM Christ our Passover

Will C. McFarlane, edited and arranged by Thomas Gobbs Christ, our Passover, is sacrificed for us: therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more: death hath no more dominion over Him. For in that He died, He died unto sin once: but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin: but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Christ is risen, is risen from the dead: and become the first fruits of them that slept. For since by man, for since by man came death: by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam, for as in Adam all die: even so in Christ shall all be made alive. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: World without end. Amen.
