† CALL TO WORSHIP

David Colestock

One: We gather in the presence of God: Many: Who knows when we wake up, when we go to sleep, and in all the moments in between.

One: We gather in the house of God:

Many: Who has created a family for us, here and in every corner of the world.

One: We gather to be the people of God: Many: Who appeals to us to follow in love, in faith, and in service.

One: Come. Let us worship the Lord!

† Those able are invited to stand Bold text is read or sung by all

† PRAYER OF CONFESSION Rev. Lucy Bowerman God, you who are our provider, we hold all we have so close we have trouble sharing. We are so connected to our pleasures that we cannot feel the pain of those around us. We are so stuck on ourselves, we cannot sense our souls slipping away into the shadows. Reforming God, loosen us from the grip of the world, so we may feel your healing touch. Separate us from our sin, so your Spirit might bind us to you. Reshape us, redeem us, renew us, so we may follow our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to new life.

† SILENCE FOR PERSONAL CONFESSION

† ASSURANCE OF PARDON

One: The God who calls us is the God who created us; the God who formed us is the God who forgives us. This is the good news: we are God’s new creation.

Many: In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God. Amen.

ANTHEM How Can I Keep from Singing

Taylor Davis

My life flows on in endless song above earth’s lamentations. I hear the real, though far-off, hymn that hails a new creation. Through all the tumult and the strife, I hear its music ringing. It sounds an echo in my soul; how can I keep from singing? While though the tempest loudly roars, I hear the truth, it liveth. And though the darkness round me close, songs in the night, it giveth. No storm can shake my inmost calm while to the rock I’m clinging. Since love is lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing? When tyrants tremble sick with fear and hear their death-knell ringing, when friends rejoice both far and near, how can I keep from singing? In prison cells and dungeon vile, our thoughts to them are winging, when friends by shame are undefiled, how can I keep, how can I keep, how can I keep from singing?
