Pine Street is a Welcoming Church, Glorifying God through Worship, Fellowship and Service in the World.
Twentieth Sunday After Pentecost
At this hour, Almighty God, send your Holy Spirit into our hearts to rule and direct us according to your will, to comfort us in all our temptations and afflictions, to defend us from all error, and lead us into all truth; that we, being steadfast in faith, may increase in love and in all good works, and in the end obtain everlasting life. Amen.

SALUTATION
One: Be glad and rejoice in the Lord our God, Many: who pours down grace in abundance.
INTROIT Show Us Thy Mercy, O Lord Eric Thiman Show us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.
† Those able are invited to stand. Bold text is read or sung by all.
One: The river of God is full of water; you visit the earth and make its harvest plentiful.
Many: You drench the furrows and smooth out the ridges; with heavy rain, you soften the ground and bless its increase.
One: You crown our years with goodness, and the hills are clothed with joy.
Many: So we praise the Lord in Zion. To you, the one who answers prayer, all flesh shall come.
One: We have come, happy to dwell in the beauty of God’s house.
Many: So let us worship God in the holiness of his temple.
† HYMN 309 Come, Great God of All the Ages
† PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Loving God, too often we hide beneath the veil of religion or trust too much in the good things we do. Smug and safe in our pews, we look down on those not here, thankful we are not like them. Shatter us with the truth that all have sinned, even us. We have failed to love as the people you call us to be. Cleanse us and restore us, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Savior.
SILENCE FOR PERSONAL CONFESSION

One: Whether we are close or whether we are standing far off, God’s love in Jesus Christ seeks us out and gathers us in. This is good news!
Many: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
† THE PEACE
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM Awake, My Heart

Jane M. Marshall
Awake, my heart, and render to God thy sure defender, thy Maker, thy preserver, a song of love and fervor. Confirm my deeds and guide me: My day, with thee beside me, beginning, middle, ending, beginning, middle, ending, will all be upward tending. My heart shall be thy dwelling, with joy and gladness swelling; thy word my nurture, thy word my nurture, given to bring me on toward heaven. Awake, my heart, and render to God thy sure defender, thy Maker, thy preserver, thy maker, preserver, a song of love and fervor.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Christ, all people here below; praise Holy Spirit evermore; praise triune God, whom we adore. Amen.
One: The Lord be with you.
Many: And also with you.
One: Lift up your hearts.

The prayer continues.

One: In your mercy,
Many: Lord, hear our prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
One: The gifts of God for the people of God.
Many: Let us keep the feast.
