Pine Street is a Welcoming Church, Glorifying God through Worship, Fellowship and Service in the World.
Eighteenth Sunday After Pentecost
Merciful God, in Jesus Christ, you do not call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. In this hour of worship, draw us away from the easy road that leads to destruction and guide us into paths that lead to life abundant, that in seeking your truth and obeying your will, we may know the joy of discipleship. Amen.
THE RINGING OF THE CARILLON
VOLUNTARY Great Is Thy Faithfulness arr. by Virginia Halberg (Please use the opening voluntary as a time of silent meditation and preparation for worship.)
SALUTATION
One: How can a mortal receive eternal life?
Many: For God, all things are possible.
† Those able are invited to stand. Bold text is read or sung by all.
Elyse Rogers
INTROIT Be Still and Know that I Am God Eric Thiman Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations: I will be exalted in the earth.
One: Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth; Many: sing the glory of God's name; give God glorious praise.
One: Because of your great power, your enemies cringe before you.
Many: All the earth worships you; they sing praises to you, sing praises to your name.
One: Come and see what God has done; he is awesome in his deeds among mortals.
Many: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have understanding. God’s praise endures forever.
One: So we lift our voices in worship, saying to God: Many: How awesome are your deeds!
Compassionate Christ, you send us to cure the sick, but we blame the sick for their choices. You ask us to restore the unclean, but we separate them into high-risk pools. You compel us to raise the dead, but we insist some are beyond help. In your patient and persistent mercy, forgive us, O Lord. Teach us to heal without condition and help without limitation. Enable us to love one another as you love us, that as recipients of unmerited grace, we may freely shower care upon all people.
SILENCE FOR PERSONAL CONFESSION

One: In the name of the One who restores the lost, raises the dead, and reigns on high, I proclaim to you that your sins are forgiven. Believe the good news of the gospel:
Many: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, healed, and made whole.

The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
† THE PEACE
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

God has called us, and how can we but raise our voices, echoing God’s praise? God has called us, and let us answer with our lives. God has changed us, and how can we live as servants of the Spirit’s gift? God has changed us, and let us worship with our lives. God has changed us, and how can we but ask for wisdom for the Christly task? God has charged us, and let us labor with our lives. God has called us, and how can we but raise our voices, echoing God’s praise. God has called us, and let us answer with our lives.
