Pine Street is a Welcoming Church, Glorifying God through Worship, Fellowship and Service in the World.
Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Almighty God, Giver of Life and Maker of all, we brought nothing into this world and we can take nothing out of it. So, let us regard those with nothing as your own and our own. Make us instruments of your providence and justice and partners in your work of salvation, which you work for the glory of your name, and that our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Robert Jones
(Please use the opening voluntary as a time of silent meditation and preparation for worship.)
One: Let our words and thoughts be acceptable to God; Many: the Lord is our rock and our redeemer.

INTROIT Praise God for this Holy Ground (All sing the refrain as indicated.) John L. Bell
Praise God for this holy ground, place, and people, sign, and sound. (R)
Praise God in whose word we find food for body, soul, and mind. (R)
Praise God who through Christ makes known all are loved and called God’s own. (R) Though praise ends, praise is begun where God’s will is gladly done. (R)
One: You who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, say to the Lord
Many: My refuge and my fortress; my God in whom I trust.
One: The Lord executes justice for the oppressed, gives food to the hungry, sets the prisoners free, opens the eyes of the blind, lifts up those who are bowed down, watches over those who are estranged, and upholds the orphan and the widow.
Many: The Lord loves the righteous, but the way of the wicked God brings to ruin
One: Come, people of God,
Many: let us pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. Let all generations praise the Lord!
God of justice and righteousness, you lift up the lowly and fill the empty; yet we adore the high and the mighty. You reach out to the poor; yet we ceaselessly pursue wealth. You talk about treasures in heaven; yet we hoard up treasures on earth. Correct our misguided ways. Forgive our lack of generosity. Free us from striving for more and more. Change our hearts so that we can tend to things that matter and find our life in Jesus Christ.
One: Without regard for the cost, the precious love of God is poured out in Jesus Christ. This is good news!
Many: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!

SERMON “Signed, Sealed...and Buried” The Rev. Seelman
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy ghost, the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM Give to the Wind Your Fears
Robert J. Powell
Give to the winds your fears, have hope, be not dismayed, God hears your sighs and counts your tears, God shall lift up your head. Through waves and clouds and storms, God gently clears the way; Wait his own time, so shall this night soon end in joyous day. Leave to God's sovereign sway to choose and to command, so shalt thou, wondering, own that way, how wise, how strong his hand! On God the Lord rely, and safe shall you go on; on God's work fix your steadfast eye; so shall your work be done.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Christ, all people here below; praise Holy Spirit evermore; praise triune God, whom we adore. Amen.
