Pine Street is a Welcoming Church, Glorifying God through Worship, Fellowship and Service in the World.
Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost
Give me, O Lord, a steadfast heart, which no unworthy affection may drag downward; give me an unconquered heart, which no tribulation can wear out; give me an upright heart, which no unworthy purpose may tempt aside. Bestow on me also, O Lord my God, understanding to know you, diligence to seek you, wisdom to find you, and a faithfulness that may finally embrace you, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
VOLUNTARY Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee Fred Bock (Please use the opening voluntary as a time of silent meditation and preparation for worship.)

One: In you, O Lord, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame.
Many: In your righteousness, deliver and rescue us. Incline your ear to us and save us.
One: Be to me a rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me, for you are my rock and fortress.
Many: Rescue us, O God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel.
One: For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust from my youth.
Many: From our births, we have leaned upon you. Our praise is continually of you.

† HYMN 403 Open Now the Gates of Beauty UNSER HERRSCHER
† PRAYER OF CONFESSION
O God of mercy, we confess that we live self-centered lives. We tolerate injustice and cruelty. Complacent in our corner of the world, we neglect the needs of others. In your righteousness, deliver and rescue us. Turn us to your way and lead us in your light, that we might serve you and care for all creation.
One: The Lord is our hope and our trust, our light and our salvation. Believe the good news!
Many: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM Praise to the Lord, the Almighty arr. by Richard Walters Praise to the Lord, the almighty, the King of creation! O my soul, praise him, for he is thy health and salvation! Come, ye who hear, brothers and sisters, draw near, praise him in glad adoration! Praise to the Lord, who o’er all things so wondrously reigneth, shelters thee under his wings, ye, so gently sustaineth! Hast thou not seen all that is needful hath been granted in what he ordaineth? Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee; surely his goodness and mercy here daily attend thee. Ponder anew all the Almighty can do, He who with love doth befriend thee. Praise to the Lord! O let all that is in me adore him! All that have life and breath, come now with praises before him. Let the amen sound from his people again; gladly for aye we adore him.
