G ATHERING IN THE P RESENCE OF THE R ISEN C HRIST

PRAYER OF PREPARATION

Grant us, O Lord, the grace always to do and think what accords with your purpose; that we, who cannot exist without you, may be enabled to live according to your will. In this hour of worship, teach us to trust in you and the powerful transformations you are already bringing about in our lives. Amen.

God of the ages, God of the old, old story, we hear of our ancestors and are astounded by their faith. They trusted you, but we waver. They believed your promise, but we cling to our own ideas. † AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

† THE PEACE

One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM For the Bread which You Have Broken

Howard Helvey

For the bread which you have broken, for the wine which you have poured, for the words which you have spoken, now we give you thanks, O Lord. By this pledge that you do love us, by your gift of peace restored, by your call to heaven above us, hallow all our lives, O Lord. With our sainted ones in glory seated at the heavenly board, may the church that’s waiting for you keep love’s tie unbroken, Lord. In your service, Lord, defend us, in our hearts keep watch and ward; in the world where you have sent us, let your kingdom come, O Lord.

† PRESENTATION OF THE GIFTS

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Christ, all people here below; praise Holy Spirit evermore; praise triune God, whom we adore. Amen.
