Pine Street is a Welcoming Church, Glorifying God through Worship, Fellowship and Service in the World.
Ninth Sunday after Pentecost
Grant us, O Lord, the grace always to do and think what accords with your purpose; that we, who cannot exist without you, may be enabled to live according to your will. In this hour of worship, teach us to trust in you and the powerful transformations you are already bringing about in our lives. Amen.

Deb Anderson
One: From the rising of the sun to its setting,
Many: God the Lord speaks and summons the earth.
One: Out of Zion and the perfect beauty of his creation,
Many: God shines forth.
One: Our God comes and does not keep silent:
Many: Hear, O, my people, and I will speak. I am God, your God.
One: Those who bring thanksgivings as their sacrifice, those who go the right way, I will show the salvation of God.
Many: Let us give thanks and praise to the God of the covenant.
HYMN 339 Lift Every Voice and Sing
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of the ages, God of the old, old story, we hear of our ancestors and are astounded by their faith. They trusted you, but we waver. They believed your promise, but we cling to our own ideas. Forgive us and free us from fear, that we may follow with joy wherever you may lead; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
ASSURANCE OF PARDON
One: From age to age, generation to generation
Many: God’s mercy never fails.
One: So, hear the good news.
Many: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven!
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
† THE PEACE
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

Howard Helvey
For the bread which you have broken, for the wine which you have poured, for the words which you have spoken, now we give you thanks, O Lord. By this pledge that you do love us, by your gift of peace restored, by your call to heaven above us, hallow all our lives, O Lord. With our sainted ones in glory seated at the heavenly board, may the church that’s waiting for you keep love’s tie unbroken, Lord. In your service, Lord, defend us, in our hearts keep watch and ward; in the world where you have sent us, let your kingdom come, O Lord.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Christ, all people here below; praise Holy Spirit evermore; praise triune God, whom we adore. Amen.

Many: And also with you.

Many: It is right to give God thanks and praise.
… of the universal church and the heavenly choir:
The prayer continues.
… as we share this joyful feast:
One: In your mercy, Many: Lord, hear our prayer.
… now and forever
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
One: The gifts of God for the people of God. Many: Let us keep the joyful feast.
