Pine Street is a Welcoming Church, Glorifying God through Worship, Fellowship and Service in the World.
Sixth Sunday after Pentecost
Eternal God, Author of our life and End of our pilgrimage: Guide us by your Word and Spirit amid all perils and temptations, that we may not wander from your way, nor stumble in the darkness; but may finish our course in safety, and come to our eternal rest in you; through the grace and merit of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

SALUTATION
One: Surely the Lord is in this place! Many: Let us enter the house of God.
† Those able are invited to stand Bold text is read or sung by all
John Luciew
One: Take refuge in the Lord. Do not trust in abundant riches or seek refuge in wealth.
Many: I am like a green olive tree in the house of God. I trust in the steadfast love of God.
One: Do not boast or plot destruction. Your tongue can be a sharp razor, and it’s too easy to love evil more than good.
Many: I will thank God forever and ever for what God has done for me.
One: Words that devour are a deception. The righteous see and fear God.
Many: So in the presence of the faithful, I will proclaim the name of the Lord, for it is good.
One: Let us worship God!
† HYMN 309 Come, Great God of All the Ages
† PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Merciful Savior, you stand beside us, yet we prefer to stand on our own. You choose us, yet we choose to worry. You attend to us, yet we attend to our work. Forgive us, gentle Teacher. Call us by name and visit us once more that we might find at your feet our joy, our purpose, and our hope.
FOR PERSONAL CONFESSION
One: By his body, Jesus reconciles all who were once estranged. Through him, the glory of God lives within us. Believe the good news.
Many: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven!
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

SERMON “Show and Tell” The Rev. Seelman
from the Barmen Declaration (Germany, 1934) Jesus Christ, as he is attested for us in Holy Scripture, is the one Word of God which we have to hear and which we have to trust and obey in life and in death. We reject the false doctrine, as though the church could and would have to other events and powers, figures and truths, as God’s revelation. As Jesus Christ is God’s assurance of the forgiveness of all our sins, so in the same way and with the same seriousness is he also God’s mighty claim upon our whole life. Through him befalls us a joyful deliverance from the godless fetters of this world for a free, grateful service to his creatures.
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us
Dale Wood Savior, like a shepherd lead us; much we need your tender care. In your pleasant pastures feed us, for our use your fold prepare. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, you have bought us; we are yours. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, you have bought us; we are yours. We are yours; in love, befriend us, be the guardian of our way; keep your flock, from sin defend us, seek us when we go astray. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, hear us children when we pray. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, hear us children when we pray. Early let us seek your favor, early let us do your will; blessed Lord and only Savior, with your love our spirits fill. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, you have loved us, love us still. Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus, you have loved us, love us still. You have loved us, love us still.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
