† CALL TO WORSHIP
One: O Lord our God, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
Many: Your glory is chanted above the heavens out of the mouths of infants and children.
One: When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and stars you have set in their courses,
Many: what are mere mortals that you should be mindful of them, human beings that you should care for them?
One: Yet, you have made them to rule over the works of your hand, all wild beasts of the field and whatever passes along the paths of the sea.
Many: Let us lift up the name of our God in worship!
† HYMN 1 Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty
† PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of grace, love, and communion, we confess that we have failed to love you with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our enemies as ourselves. We ignore your commandments, stray from your way, and follow other gods. Have mercy on us. Forgive our sin and raise us to new life that we may serve you faithfully and give honor to your holy name.
SILENCE FOR PERSONAL CONFESSION

† ASSURANCE OF PARDON
One: God did not send the Son to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Many: Thanks be to God.
† GLORIA
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

SERMON “Beyond Belief” The Rev. Seelman
† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
† THE PEACE
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM My Hope Is Built
Tom Trenney
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand; all other ground is sinking sand. When darkness seems to hide his face, I rest on his unchanging grace; in every high and stormy gale, my anchor holds within the veil. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand; all other ground is sinking sand. When he shall come with trumpet sound, O may I then in him be found, dressed in his righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand; all other ground is sinking sand. On Christ, the Rock, I stand.
