G ATHERING IN THE P RESENCE OF THE R ISEN C HRIST

PRAYER OF PREPARATION

Loving Jesus, in a broken and fearful world, you continue to reveal yourself to us each day, bringing your peace and the gift of the Holy Spirit. You are our steadfast companion. So as we enter your life in this time of worship, give us the courage might follow you before any human authority and the assurance of your love’s saving power. Amen.

† HYMN 233 The Day of Resurrection! LANCASHIRE

† PRAYER OF CONFESSION

O God, your love is boundless and your grace exceeds our imaginations. You keep finding ways to be among us, even when the doors of our hearts are locked. Graciously, you seek us out. We cannot hide, but we can confess that sin has us in its grip. It has led us from your ways and corrupted our best intentions, tempting us to believe that you don’t notice, that you aren’t even present. Correct our vision. Cleanse our hearts. Create in us a place where we can welcome you and receive the fullness of what you have given us in Jesus Christ.

† ASSURANCE OF PARDON

One: Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the power of sin has been defeated. God’s love is stronger still. This is good news!

Many: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven!

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy ghost, the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Pam Bauer

† THE PEACE
