GATHERING IN THE PRESENCE OF THE RISEN CHRIST

VOLUNTARY Amazing Grace Frederick Swann

INTROIT Lord, You Know Me Through and Through Mozart; arr. by Hopson Lord, you know me through and through, yea, completely; you know the days yet before me. Lord, you know my resting, my rising, you know my thoughts from far away. Lord, you are behind me; Lord, you are before me. You know all the words I speak long before I speak them. You lay your hand upon me. Where can I go from your spirit, or where to flee from your presence? You are in my joy; you are in my sorrow. O search me and know my heart and soul. Lord, lead me in your truth. Guide me, Lord, hear my prayer.

SALUTATION Rev. Matt Drumheller

One: The Lord is merciful and gracious, Many: Slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

CALL TO WORSHIP

One: Here we find courage:

Many: Courage to follow our call, courage to live out our faith.

One: Here we find hope:

Many: Hope for a better world, hope that refuses to let us go.

One: Here we find truth:

Many: Truth that lives in sacred community, truth that lives in ancient stories.

† Those able are invited to stand Bold text is read or sung by all

One: God welcomes us here. May we find that which we seek, Many: And in our seeking, may we know God.

† HYMN # 483 Sing Praise to God, Who Reigns Above MIT FREUDEN ZART

† PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Merciful God, we confess that we often tuck our faith into our pockets. We hide in a place of comfort rather than proudly declaring, “We are Christian. We believe. This faith has changed me.” Forgive us for whispering when we could be singing. Forgive us for staying quiet when we could be part of rewriting the narrative. Forgive our misplaced values, and draw us into your extravagance, that we, too, might be generous with our love.

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH A Brief Statement of Faith

In life and in death, we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve. With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.

THE PEACE

One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

THE OFFERING OF TITHES AND GIFTS TO GOD (Text 267-367-4910 to give)

ANTHEM When I Survey the Wondrous Cross H. Hopson

When I survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of glory died, my richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride. Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast, save in the death of Christ my God; all the vain things that charm me most, I sacrifice them to his blood. See, from his head, his hand, his feet, sorrow, and love flow mingled down; did e’er such love and sorrow meet, or thorns compose so rich a crown? Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were a present far too small; love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.

PRAYER OF DEDICATION

SEALING THE WORD SACRAMENT OF THE LORD’S SUPPER

One: The Lord be with you.

Many: And also with you.

One: Lift up your hearts.

Many: We lift them to the Lord.

One: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

Many: It is right to give God thanks and praise.

COMMUNION PRAYER

… who forever sing to the glory of your name:

The prayer continues. … crucified and risen.

INTERCESSION, SUPPLICATION, AND CONSECRATION

One: In your mercy, Many: Lord, hear our prayer.

LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

One: The gifts of God for the people of God. Many: Let us keep the feast.

Pine Street Presbyterian Church will follow CDC guidelines to ease masking requirements and allow in-person gatherings, including food. While Dauphin and Cumberland Counties are in the low or medium community levels (according to the CDC’s “COVID-19 by County” page found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019ncov/your-health/covid-by-county.html), masks will be optional for all Pine Street events, including worship. Session and staff will monitor the community levels and change health and safety guidelines if the local counties are high. Worshipers are welcome to wear masks if that helps them feel comfortable in worship.
