PRAYER OF PREPARATION

O Lord, your loving-kindness is better than life. There is nothing that can separate us from your enduring love. Move us out, draw us close, and keep us steady, that we might serve you all the days of our lives. All glory, power, dominion, and majesty are yours from eternity to eternity. Amen.

† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH from a Brief Statement of Faith

Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we serve. We trust in God the Holy Spirit, everywhere, the giver and renewer of life. In a broken and fearful world, the Spirit gives us courage to pray without ceasing, to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior, to unmask idolatries in Church and culture, to hear the voices of people long silenced, and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace. In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit, we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks and to live holy and joyful lives, even as we watch for God’s new heaven and new earth, praying “Come, Lord Jesus!”

† THE PEACE

One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

ANTHEM How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings

Katherine K. Davis

How lovely are Thy dwellings, O Lord of Hosts. How lovely are Thy dwellings, O Lord of Hosts. My soul longeth, yea, fainteth, longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. My soul longeth, yea, fainteth, longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. How lovely are Thy dwellings, I Lord of Hosts. My soul and body cry aloud, yea, for the living God. My soul and body cry aloud, yea, for the living God, for the living God, yea, for the living God. How lovely are Thy dwellings, O Lord of Hosts. Yea, the sparrow hath found a house and the swallow a nest for herself where she may lay her young. Yea, the sparrow hath found a house, and the swallow a nest for herself where she may lay her young. Even thine altars, even thine altars, O Lord, O Lord of Hosts, my King and my God, my King and my God. How lovely are Thy dwellings, O Lord of Hosts. How lovely, how lovely is Thy dwelling place, O Lord of Hosts.
