Pine Street is a Welcoming Church, Glorifying God through Worship, Fellowship and Service in the World.
Eighth Sunday After Pentecost
Sovereign God, your Spirit is ever present with us. Where can we flee your presence? You are the beginning and the ending, the first and the last, and all that exists in between. When your Spirit seems hidden from us, teach us to recognize your presence and to respond, for your name’s sake. Amen.
RINGING OF THE CARILLON
SALUTATION
One: Surely the Lord is in this place! Many: This is the house of God.
VOLUNTARY Jesus, Lead Thou On setting by Paul Manz (Please use the opening voluntary as a time of silent meditation and preparation for worship.)
INTROIT Lead Me, Lord Samuel S. Wesley
Lead me, Lord, lead me in thy righteousness, make thy way plain before my face. Lead me, Lord, lead me in thy righteousness, make thy way plain before my face. For it is thou, Lord, thou, Lord, only, that makest me dwell in safety. For it is thou, Lord, thou, Lord, only, that makest me dwell in safety.
† Those able are invited to stand. Bold text is read or sung by all.
† AFFIRMATION OF FAITH from a Brief Statement of Faith
Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we serve. We trust in God the Holy Spirit, everywhere, the giver and renewer of life. In a broken and fearful world, the Spirit gives us courage to pray without ceasing, to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior, to unmask idolatries in Church and culture, to hear the voices of people in long silences, and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace. In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit, we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks and to live holy and joyful lives, even as we watch for God’s new heaven and new earth, praying “Come, Lord Jesus!”
† THE PEACE
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Many: And also with you.

THE OFFERING OF TITHES AND GIFTS TO GOD
ANTHEM The Lord Is My Shepherd
Thomas Matthews
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me, they comfort me, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anoitest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell, I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever, forever.
† PRESENTATION OF THE GIFTS
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Christ, all people here below; Praise Holy Spirit evermore; praise triune God, whom we adore. Amen.
