What’s roaring dinos! It’s PHS KC Media Manager, Cristian Fonseca. Hope everyone is having a great summer. Honestly, I’m still in denial about school starting back again. I don’t want to go back. But we have to either way, so why not make it a great year with Key Club, full of community service and spending time with those in the club. Senior year is going to be hard, but I’m ready to go into it head-first! I hope you guys are ready as well!
The month of July has been full of events. We started the month with a BANG! Literally. Attending the 3 of July event, held by the Sebastopol Kiwanis group, whom we thank very much for inviting us to come help. The day was full of fun and exciting things, from helping set everything up to making sure everything went smoothly at the bouncy house, and going through it a few times. To end off this fantastic event, we sat down and watched the fireworks show they had. P.S. we also got awesome shirts. Also, this month, to raise money for the officer to attend DCON, our club had two bake sales. Mostly officers helped, but special thanks to Alexander and Jaye for helping out so much during BOTH bake sales. You guys helped us a lot!

What’s roaring dinos! It’s Julie Tran, the president of Piner Key Club!! Hopefully you guys had a great summer but I am so readyyy for more Key Club events to start rolling in, with new faces, new people, and new members! Honestly, this summer was so much fun, the new officers and I had a great time at officer bonding and volunteering together at almost all the events.

I am currently 16 years old and I am a junior, I am one of 8 children. I love volunteering and getting to meet new people. I am also apart of the division leadership team and serving as the executive assistant for the 2025-2026 term. I look forward to helping our club reach its full potential and getting more involved with our division as a whole.

I’m a sophomore at Piner High School and I like solving Rubik’s Cubes, playing with my dog and volunteering. I joined Key Club to connect with people and help our community at the same time

I’m a sophomore at piner high school and I enjoy volunteering, crocheting, and visiting places with beautiful scenery when I have the time. Why I joined: I joined key club as a way to connect with others through a common interest; community service.

I am currently 17 years old and I am a senior. I am part of the Piner XC team, in my second year. This year is going to be my third year running track as well. I have four other siblings. Being a part of the officer team in Key club has helped me greatly. Not only getting community service hours, but also helping me make new friends.

This summer, Key Club members and officers came together to volunteer at the Redwood Empire Food Bank in Santa Rosa. The food bank plays a vital role in providing meals across Sonoma County and surrounding counties, supported by dedicated volunteers who pack boxes, distribute food, and help ensure families have access to quality meals.

I love volunteering at the food bank because you can see the direct impact it has on our community. Everyone deserves access to meals, even if it’s just a small assist, and being part of that process is so rewarding. Plus, I got to meet so many people—it really helped strengthen my connections and teamwork skills. It was a wonderful experience that gave our school a positive reputation and made a lasting impact on the community, one meal at a time. Interview With a Member!

This month’s Division Council meeting was full of spirit and creativity. We went over the cheers we’ll be doing at Fall Rally, where we’ll head to Six Flags to show our Key Club pride. Members also participated in a fun activity called “Shark Tank: Volunteer Edition,” where they pitched new service project ideas. To finish off the meeting, we played a classic game of Heads Up, Seven Up, keeping everyone engaged and connected.

Interview with a Member!

What was your favorite part about this month's DCM? “I got to play heads up seven.” Would you recommend other members to come to the next DCM? “Hell, [yeah]!” -Alex Nguyen

At Club Rush on August 28, we had an incredible turnout with over 100 students signing up for Key Club. It was great to see so many new and returning members interested in serving our community and being part of the club. Our first meeting will be held next Thursday, where we’ll go over upcoming volunteer opportunities, fun social events, and more. In addition, this Sunday we have a Division Council Meeting (DCM), and all of the details are posted in Google Classroom.

Andrea

“Hi, my name is Andrea, and I think Club Rush this year went really well. I enjoyed helping make the Instagram frame, Sonny Angel cutout, and balloon arch since I like being creative. Working with the officers made me feel welcome, and seeing over 100 people sign up made it all worth it. I’m excited to help plan more events in the future.” –

This August, our club had the opportunity to volunteer at the Gravenstein Apple Fair! We helped transport goods throughout the event, making sure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes. Even though it was a lot of work, our members had such a great time being part of the fair and experiencing the lively, fun atmosphere. A big thank you to all our Key Club volunteers for their hard work, and to the Kiwanis for inviting us to take part in such an amazing community event. We’re so glad we got to help out and can’t wait to come back next year!

This year, Key Club members had the opportunity to volunteer at the Santa Rosa Marathon by helping with the water and electrolyte distribution. Volunteers were split between two stations: Station 4, which arrived bright and early at 5:30 AM, and Station 3, which started at 6:00 AM. Both groups worked hard setting up tables, organizing cups, and handing out water and electrolyte drinks to the runners as they passed by. The experience was both fun and a little stressful — keeping up with the steady stream of runners definitely tested our speed and focus. Still, the energy of the marathon and the teamwork among volunteers made it an exciting and rewarding morning. Everyone got to cheer on the athletes while playing a vital role in keeping them hydrated throughout the race. After the event, members celebrated their hard work with some well-deserved food.
Volunteers from Station 3 headed to Fire Wings for a post-shift meal, while others joined together at a buffet. It was the perfect way to wrap up a morning of service, laughter, and teamwork.

What was your favorite part about volunteering? “Um, probably getting to hang out with other people and seeing the runners run really hard.” Was this your first time volunteering, and would you do it again? “Um, definitely. I would definitely do that again, yeah.” What was one fun or funny moment memory you'll remember? “Probably when the guy started stacking up all of the cups and making, like, a really tall tower with them.” -Emmanuel Ramirez
What did your group do at the station? “But essentially, what we were doing was handing out water and electrolytes to the people. We actually ran towards them.” Why do you think events like these are important for Key Club members? “'Cause it helps socialize and they build integrity.” Would you want to do it again? “Yeah.”
