Response to Chloe’s Mad Libs from the May Issue Ferency "It was a glittering summer morning. The members of Ferency woke up to the sound of a wombat scavenging for food in the kitchen. They had just met to have their weekly getting a degree in underwater basket weaving night the previous evening so everyone was feeling a little anguish. The Board of Director Member took charge and headed for the kitchen. They set the house speaker to Lin Manuel Miranda radio and prepared for battle. Grabbing some bleach, they approached the wombat with American caution. The intruder was startled but quickly responded by reciting the house norms to the tune of American Dynasty. The wombat agreed to do the sweeping twice a week without complaining. The house members were thoroughly impressed and promptly offered the animal a permanent spot in the house.

Patrick Spring – Raft Hill I just want to recommend a band I’ve been enjoying for the past year, and that band is T-Square. I’ve listened to them high, drunk and sober and they never miss for me.

The vibes and feelings I get when listening to this band is euphoric and exciting. So I want to do a review of my favorite songs for when you get in the mood to listen to new music. Their genre is what I would call funk-jazz-pop fusion. If I’m ever in a bad mood they uplift me and when I’m bored they hone in on my focus. So here is a list of my favorites. (Grammar be damned I’m drunk) Daylight-Album: AI Factory -This song starts laid back, but don’t let that fool you. The sax and drums will pull you into a more energetic mood. While the sax sings for a while, the guitar sneaks up and lifts you higher through a quick scale.

This song will make you feel like you're bumbling with the clouds! That sax will make you soar.

AI Factory- Album: AI Factory -AI Factory is the first song of the album. It’s playful and I like that. It starts with more modern/futuristic sounds before the guitar kicks in for a more laid back sway. The synth becomes the guitar's companion, but both have their moments in solos where you can feel the passion of the musicians where they let out their energy. Overall a great opener to a great album.

Hank&Cliff- Album: The Water of the Rainbow -My most loved song from this band. The beginning piano rift makes me go through dimensional portals. While the piano is the interlude a synth makes the head of this song. Singing through it all while backed up by a funky bass. When I listen to this song I feel like I’m rolling through the credits of a sassy drama. Everything in this song from the drums to the backup just gets me in a good mood.

Sabana Hotel-Album: The Water of the Rainbow -The build up to the explosion of mellow and smooth jams is sure to pull you in. The flow of the guitar and sax has this explosive energy that feels like an itch I didn’t know that needed scratching. If you're a fan of Mario Kart music this song will fulfill that role. In fact the song was played at a Japanese raceway back in the 80s. Just a feel good song that mellows you out like a good cup of tea.

Hit and Run- Album: SPORTS -Everytime I listen to this song I just imagine two castles facing each other with two sides facing in full combat. There’s times of rest but the build up of the conflict always remains, and when it unleashes; it does so in the best way possible. It’s fun, it’s playful and it’s powerful. Go listen to it.

Overhead Kick-Album: SPORTS -All I have to say for this song is that I’m in a dogfighting arcade. I'm a pilot going through the clouds doing barrel rolls. Need I say more?

Camel Land-Album: SPORTS - Mushroom land is what this song should be called. I'm in a MUSHROOM CAVE! Sailing the Ocean-Album: Gravity - My favorite song in my least favorite album. Such a feel good song with the sax rocking along for some sea legs. And GODDAMN the sax solos just HIT, I feel high just listening to the solo, pure euphoria! The piano has a marvelous set up for the sax solo that makes it just hit so good! My neurons just activate when that solo hits. MMMM, great song to a mid album.

I will say these are all instrumental so if that’s not your thing be warned. All songs can be easily found on Youtube just type in T Square and the song name or album.

Food Safety Slides Chloe (New Comm)

Recommendations for Local Walking Trails Chloe (New Community) 1. Hunters Orchard Park 7242 Old River Trail, Lansing, MI 48917 This is a nice well shaded walking trail with views of Grand River. It is right next to Delta Mills Park, which has a playground, pickleball courts, kayak/canoe launch site, and other amenities.

2. The Ledges at Fitzgerald Park 133 Fitzgerald Park Drive Grand Ledge, MI 48837 Miles and miles of trails! A little bit of a drive but amazing views and lots of local wildlife. (Last week alone I saw two baby raccoons swinging around on tree branches within my first five minutes at the park).

3. Harrison Meadows Park 1700 Roxburgh Ave, East Lansing, MI 48823 This park entrance has easy parking, a basketball court, and a small playground.

Deer sightings are common and there are lots of colorful wildflowers. The trails are paved, but if you follow the trails north past Lake Lansing road towards East Lansing Soccer Complex you will find multiple wooded areas with dirt trails. It can get pretty sunny on the trails outside the woods, so bring sun protection!
