The Burlco GOP, Which Had Dismay for ‘Outsider’ David Richter After He Entered the 3rd Congressional District Race and Proceeded to Bash Its Favorite, Kate Gibbs, Is Now Aboard His Campaign Train By Bill Bonvie Staff Writer

MOUNT HOLLY—With less than two months remaining until Election Day 2020, the race between 3rd Congressional District Democratic incumbent Andy Kim and former Hill International CEO David Richter, his GOP challenger, has now gone into high gear with the latter having belatedly received the blessings of the Burlington County Republican Committee, whose chosen candidate in

the GOP’s July primary, former Freeholder Director Kate Gibbs, he defeated after an especially caustic war of words. In an Aug. 24 press release, Burlington cou nt y GOP Chair man Sean Earlen e ndor s e d R icht e r, c ont e nd i ng t h at “following a hard-fought primary, it is time for us to come together as one party and work towards our common goal of defeating Andy Kim.” “I have heard from leaders across Burlington County who are ready to come

together and I look forward to fighting alongside David as we secure victories across our municipalities, take back two seats on the Freeholder Board (recently changed to Board of Commissioners) and kick Andy Kim out of Congress,” Earlen said. The New Lisbon Water System, according to a Sept. 1 press release provided to this newspaper by Hornickel, was constructed by Burlington County in the 1970s to service the former main campus of Burlington County College, which was located off PembertonBrowns Mills Road, and several other county facilities in the area, as well as approximately 50 homes in the New Lisbon section of the township. “Since the closing of many county facilities, we targeted this particular facility as a potential asset for our water system,” Mayor David Patriarca told this newspaper in July. “My personal belief is that water is a tremendous See WATER/ Page 7
