Architect Reveals Floor Plans and Artistic Renderings for Future Combination Library-Municipal Building By Douglas D. Melegari Staff Writer
MEDFORD—A plan to construct a twofloor, over 20,000-square-foot Medford Township combination library-municipal building at 51 Union St. has been unveiled to the public. “It has been a long discussion and here we are at the finish line,” said Brooks W. Garrison, an architect with Garrison Architects, who unveiled the proposed combination building’s floor plans and artistic renderings during an
Aug. 7 Medford Council meeting. The library is slated to be constructed on the first floor of the proposed building, and most of the amenities slated for the proposed building’s first floor are associated with the library. The first floor of the building, according to Garrison, is expected to consist of a “great, new space” that allows for “quiet studying, along with work group and work activities.” As seen in floor plans released a few days later on Medford Township’s website and
discussed by Garrison on Aug. 7, the first floor includes a 2,379-square-foot “Main Library,” a 1,385-square-foot “Children’s Library,” a 514-square-foot technology center, a 136-square-foot “Friends Room,” a 136-square-foot study, a 222-square-foot “Teen Room,” a 192-square-foot book holding area, a 574-square-foot library staff suite, a 221-square-foot breakroom and a 623-squarefoot lobby and café.
