‘A GLOBAL PANDEMIC DIDN’T STOP US!’ The Class of 2021 Graduates in Commencement Exercises Throughout Region, Remembered for Perseverance, Resiliency, and Innovation During Pandemic with an Area Class President Declaring, ‘We’re More Than the Class of COVID’
By Douglas D. Melegari Staff Writer
PINE BARRENS—The Class of 2021 at each of the area’s six high schools endured “constant disruptions,” many “obstacles” and life-altering events over the past four years, including the biggest of them all during the end of their junior year lasting into their senior year, the Coronavirus pandemic, but should be defined not by those events, but by what emerged from it all, including their perseverance, resiliency, adaptability, along with their ability to learn new ways to connect with each other and innovation in a constantly changing world. Those were some of the main takeaways from the commencement speeches of class presidents, student council presidents, salutatorians, valedictorians and school administrators at Cherokee, Lenape, Seneca, Shawnee, Pemberton and Pinelands Regional high schools over the last week.
