PEMBERTON—The “top” or “upper administration” of the Pemberton Township School District is facing immense criticism from numerous school employees who have gone public with their concerns at the past two Pemberton Board of Education meetings to contend that the district’s Coronavirus response is not only lacking collaboration and communication, but is largely disorganized, and that while district administrators have said their decisions ensure the “safety, health and well-being” of both students and staff, their “actions do not match your words.” Sup er i ntendent Jef frey Havers, i n particular, is being accused of “adding fuel to the fire” over the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend when he made an apparently abrupt decision to change the district’s Coronavirus quarantining policy, which reportedly had blindsided the school nurses in the district’s nine schools, with several contending they only found out about it through an email sent by the superintendent during the holiday weekend. As a result of Haver’s actions, according to both numerous veteran educators and school nurses, “chaos” ensued upon the resumption of school on Tuesday, Jan. 18, with the school nurses “caught off-guard”
