PEMBERTON BOROUGH—Hanover Street, one of two main thoroughfares that run through the Borough of Pemberton, is scheduled to be closed for about six months, beginning this weekend, to allow for a bridge replacement. The Hanover Street Bridge, built in 1932, which carries Hanover Street over the Rancocas Creek’s north branch, is scheduled for replacement by Burlington County following several temporary emergency repairs to it over the past few years. The replacement project start date has been pushed back a number of times over the last several years, but this time traffic message board trailers have been posted in the area warning motorists that the structure will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning on or about June 7. “The road will be closed on each side of the bridge, while access to the Goodwill Fire Company will be maintained from the south,” said Nicholas Gangemi, a public information officer for Burlington County. “The road will be reopened to vehicular traffic in December 2019.” He added that additional work at the project site will be performed after the road is reopened, with the expectation that all work will be completed in May 2020, except for the removal of steel pilings from the creek, which will be completed in July 2020. The project costs, Gangemi said, are being federally funded through the New Jersey Department of Transportation’s Division of Local Aid and Economic Development, except the design and permitting for the replacement See BRIDGE/ Page 31
