Florence Community Services Activity Guide

A LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR

DearFlorence Community,
Summer is just around the corner, and we’re excited to welcome another season of fun and community connection here in Florence. As school wraps up and kids begin their well-earned break, our Community Services team has been busy preparing a wide variety of programs and events designed to help residents of all ages make the most of the months ahead.
Whether you’re looking for ways to keep kids active, opportunities for teens to connect with friends, or family-friendly activities to enjoy together, this Summer Activity Guide is filled with options for everyone.
The Florence Aquatic Center will once again be a go-to destination during the warmer months, offering open swim, swimming lessons, and our Junior Lifeguard program. In preparation for a busy summer season, the Town has completed several improvements at the facility, including new plaster resurfacing inside the pool, upgraded synthetic turf for a clean and consistent look, and refreshed slide surfaces to ensure a smooth and enjoyable ride. Throughout the season, we’ll also host themed swim nights and special events that make pool days even more memorable.
Our summer programs and camps remain some of the most popular offerings of the season, providing kids with a safe and engaging environment filled with games, crafts, outdoor activities, and opportunities to build new

friendships. Teens will also find special events designed just for them, offering fun spaces to stay active, connect with friends, and enjoy the summer together.
Sports lovers won’t want to miss the return of our popular basketball league. A longtime community favorite, the league brings exciting games, friendly competition, and plenty of energy as players take the court and families cheer from the sidelines. Families are also encouraged to participate in the Summer Reading Program at the Viney Jones Library, where kids can continue exploring books and learning through fun activities and reading challenges throughout the summer.
One of the season’s biggest highlights will be Freedom Fest on July 4 as part of the community’s America 250 celebration. This exciting evening will feature live music, family activities, and a spectacular fireworks show that brings our community together each year.
We invite you to explore this guide, try something new, and join us throughout the summer. Our goal is simple: to create opportunities that bring neighbors together and help make Florence an even more vibrant place to live, play, and grow.
We look forward to seeing you this summer — at the pool, at camp, at the library, and at the many events happening across our community.
Warm regards,
Paul King Director of Community Services Town of Florence
